Welcome to the Wonderful World of Black & Decker Tools.

Your new Low Temperature Glue Gun is designed to apply special, lower melting , temperature (225®F) hot melt adhesives. The lower application temperature of the adhesive will allow the bonding of many heat sensitive materials such as
polystyrene foam white
maintaining eicellent bond strength. This feature dramatically expands the' versatility of your new gun for gluing applications in a
countless variety of hobby
and cratt projects.
WÆÉ
Your Low Temperature Glue Gun can be used only with the special ova! shaped Low Temperature Giue sticks designed specificaliy for this gun. These are available in
standard and extended setting
time formulations.
For personal safety and for proper operation of your glue gun, please take the time to carefully read all the safety rules and instructions in this
booklet.
Thank you for selecting Black

followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and persona! injury, including the following:
KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN. Cluttered areas and benches invite injuries.
CONSIDER WORK EMVIRONMEMT. Don’t expose power tools to rain. Don’t use
power tools in damp or wet locations. Keep work area well lit.
3.
KEEP CHILDREN AWAY. All visitors should be kept away from work area. Do not let
visitors contact tool or extension cord.
STORE IDLE TOOLS. When not in use, tools should be stored in dry, high or locked-
up place - out of reach of children.
5.
USE SAFETY GLASSES.
6. DON’T ABUSE CORD. Never carry or yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord from heat, oil and sharp edges.
7. DON’T OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance. Do not use overhead.
8. DISCONNECT TOOLS. When not in use, before servicing and when changing accessories.
9. This tool is recommended for indoor use only.
10. STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operafe too! Vv^hen you are tired.
11. DO NOT TOUCH THE HEATED NOZZLE OF THE GLUE GUN OR THE HOT GLUE. The operating temperature of this tool is 225" F.
12. Never attempt to use any other material than recommended adhesive, sealer, or caulk sticks in the gun. Use ONLY oval shaped low temperature glue sticks. Mot for use with
crayons or candles.
13. Do not use hot melt glue to take the place of structurai fasteners.
14. The adhesive ivill soften above 132®F, Don’t use on objects subject i ..- temperaiures of
132°F or above.
15. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE UNUSED PORTION OF A GLUE STICK
FROM THE TOOL. F’^urge unused glue from gun through nozzle only. DO NOT remove from rear of gun.
16. Never attempt to force cool the gun after use by immersing any part of it in water or any other liquid. Allow gun to air cool only.
17. Supen/ise the use of this tool by children.

19. WHENNOTINUSE,DONOTLEAVEGLUEGUN PLUGGEDINFOR AN EXTENDED
TIME. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED.
20; ALWAYS BE SURE THAT THE GLUE GUN IS COOL BEFORE STORING IT.
21. AVOID ACCIDENTAL GLUE DISCHARGE. Feeding or pushing adhesive stick with too much force into a heated gun may cause hot adhesive to be unexpectedly expelled from nozzle.
22. DO NOT store the giue gun in dire ct sunlight for extended periods. MOTE: This too! will become quite warm during use. This is normal and do-ss not indicate a problem.
SAVE THESE SAFETY RULES FOR FUTURE USE,
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Extension Cords
Only round jacketed extension cords should be used and we recommend that they be listed by Urfderwriters Laboratories (UL). An extension cord must have adequate wire size (AVVG or American Wire Gauge) for safety, and to prevent loss of performance. The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cable; that is, 16 gauge has more capacity than 18 gauge. \A/hen using more than one extension cord, be sure each individual extension contains at least the minimum wire size appropriate for the total length of your extension.
To determine the minimum size required, refer to the chart below:
CHART FOR mmmum wire size (awg) of extension cords
NAMEPLATE RATING-WATTS TOTAL EXTENSION CORD LENGTH-FEET
0-120
Install wire stand by spreading apart legs and inserting ends of wire into holes in nose of guru (202 LT only)
Insert oval stick of Low Temperature adhesive into inlet tube of gun’s rneii chamber. Squeeze trigger or push with thumb to set adhesive sack firmly in chamber. Plug in gun and wait 3-5 minutes for gun CO neat. WARNING: TOOL iS “ON” AS SOON AS IT IS PLiJGfiEZ- fl07E: On initial use, a second stick of adhesive may be required to be itiaded into gun immediately after advancing the first stick to produce flew. CAUTION: Feeding or pushing adhesive stick with too much force into a heated gun may cause hot adhesive to be unexpectedly expelled from nozzle. Apply adhesive by squeezing tnogsn ~nw more the trigger is puHecl, the more glue will flov^ out of nozzle. When gun stops feeding glue, release trigger and squeeze again. When one adhesive stick is depressed to the level of inlet tube lip, iriseft another.

Tips On Using Your Low Temperature Glue Gun (continued)
9. Do not use Low Temperature Glue in place of structural fasteners to hold heavy loads.
10. Low Temperature Glue can be stored indefinitely, even in the gun, and be remelted at future uses with full bonding capability.
11. Low Temperature Glue can be used to bond items on both latex and mylar balloons. The glue should be applied to the item being put on and not directly to the balloon. Press the item with glue applied to it and position on the balloon. Always wear eye protec tion.
12. Two types of Low Temperature Glue are available: Ail Purpose - Normal Setting Time Slow Set - Extended Setting Time
13. Some paints and stains containing petroleum distillates can weaken the adhesive. Test before using. You may need to paint or stain before gluing.
14. Hardened glue may be removed by peeling, scraping or reheating with the hot tip of gun.
Cleaning
Use only mild soap and a damp cloth to dean the tool. Many
household cleaners contain chemicals which could seriously damage the plastic. Also, do not use gasoline, turpentine, lacquer or paint thinner, dry cleaning fluids or similar products. Never let any liquid get
inside of tool; never immerse any part of the tool into a liquid.
Operation (continued)
In between applications use stand to keep the unit upright for good
ventilaiioR., Simply roíate stand form^ard for use. (202 LT only)
MOTE: We recommend placing a piece of scrap material under
nozzie to prevent damage to surface the unit is resting on.
When ail gluing operations are completed, simply unplug tool and
allow it to cool to room temperature. Store away in safe, dry place. DO
NOT ATTEMPT TO
USE. Any unused adhesive can be reheated and used at a future date
without any loss of bonding strength. WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT
UNIT HAS COOLED DOWN BEFORE PLACING IN STORAGE.
rips
1.
Make sure the surfaces to be bonded are clean and free from dirt
or oily films. Clean surfaces always bond best so take time to prepare the surfaces prior to gluing.
Surfaces should be pressed together within 10 seconds of the adhesive being applied. Thin beads will dry fastest.
3.
Working time can be extended to 30 seconds or more by applying the adhesive in large heavy pools (1/2" diameter).
4.
Working time can also be extended by preheating the surfaces to be bonded. This can be done with a hand held hair dryer. This will also improve bond strength.
It is always best to work in a room with an ambient temperature of
68° to 72°F. Extreme cold will quicken set-up time.
6. The use of clamps or holding devices is usually not required.
7
Bonding large areas is not recommended since adhesive will set before positioning can occur.
Low Temperature Glue begins to soften at temperatures exceeding
S.
132°F. Low Temperature Glue should not be used on items subjected to temperatures above 132°F.
