Safety Information
• Keep this manual for future reference.
• R ead all safety information before setting up the Video Extender — 4K HD MI, USB, Fiber.
• Before cleaning, unplug the extender from its wall outlet. Clean with a damp
cloth; do not use harsh cleaners.
• Use only the external power supply that you received with your extender
receiver and an approved power supply (optional) for the extender transmitter; do not use damaged power cords or wall outlets.
• Avoid using the extenders in wet, flammable, or magnetic environments.
• Grounded 3 -pin power outlet s are required.
• Do not place heavy equipment on top of the extenders.

2. Overview
2.1 Introduction
Use the Video Extender — 4K HDMI, USB, Fiber to transmit Ultra HD /4K HDMI up to 1000 feet (300 meters) and USB up to 650 feet (20 0 meters ) via one 50/125 µm OM3 multimode fiber cable with an LC conne ctor.
The extender transmits low- speed USB 1.1 at speeds up to 187.5 kbps at distances up to 650 feet (20 0 meters ) and full-speed USB 1.1 signals at speeds ranging from 1.5 to 12 Mbps at distances up to 130 feet (40 meters). Typical low-speed devices include keyboards and mice; typical full-speed devices include external hard drives, USB hubs, and USB memor y sticks.

Chapter 3: Installation
3. Installation
Follow the steps listed below to ins tall your Video Ex tenders.
1. Plug the micro USB B connec tor end of the included Micro-B-to-Type -A-USB cable into the transmitter's female micro USB port.
2. Plug the USB Type A connec tor end of the Micro- B-to-Type-A-USB cable into the video source's USB port.
3. Plug the micro USB connector on the included Micro- B to-USB-Type-A­female-and-USB-Type-A-male “Y”-cable into the receiver's micro USB por t.
4. Plug the other end of the Micro-B to- USB-Type-A-female-and-USB-Type-A­male “Y”-cable to the receiver's 5-V power adapter ( included).
5. Plug the USB female connector on the “Y” cable from the receiver to the USB peripheral device (keyboard, mouse, printer, USB hub ).
6. Using the LC connectors on a 50 /125 µm OM3 multimode fiber cable (not included ), link the Transmitter to the Receiver.
7. Connect the HDMI cable between the source and the transmitter.
8. Connect the HDMI cable bet ween the display and the receiver.
9. Power on the source and display devices.

4. Troubleshooting
4.1 Contacting Black Box
If you determine that your Video Extender — 4K HDMI, USB, Fiber is malfunctioning, do not attempt to alter or repair the unit. It contains no user-ser viceable parts. Contact Black Box Technical Support at 724-746-5500 or info@ blackbox.com.
Before you do, make a record of the history of the problem. We will be able to provide more efficient and accurate assistance if you have a complete descrip­tion, including:
• the nature and duration of the problem.
• when the problem occur s.
• the components involved in the problem.
• any par ticular application that, when used, appears to create the problem or
make it worse.
4.2 Shipping and Packaging
If you need to transpor t or ship your Video Ex tender — 4K HDMI, USB, Fiber:
• Package it carefully. We recommend that you use the original container.
• If you are returning the unit, make sure you include everything you received
with it. Before you ship for return or repair, contact Black Box to get a Return Authorization (RA) number.
