share one host (via CSU/DSUs) in
a polled environment.
In a local asynchronous setup,
two or four terminals can share
one mainframe, controller, or
front-end processor.
In broadcast mode, the host
sends a polling message to all
remote controllers. In select
mode, only the device you select
receives the host’s transmissions
until the host polls again.
