WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS
Secure Racking
If secure racked units are installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, they may require further evaluation by certification agencies. Consider the following items:
1. The ambient temperature within the rack may be greater than the room ambient temperature. Installation should be such that the amount of airflow required for safe operation is not compromised. The maximum temperature for the equipment in this environment is 122°F (50°C).
2. Install the unit so that it doesn’t become unstable from uneven loading.
3. Side vents are used to dissipate heat generated within the unit. When mounting the unit in an equipment rack, makecertain to allow adequate clearance for venting.
Input Supply
Check nameplate ratings to ensure that there is no overloading of supply circuits that could have an effect on overcurrent protection and supply wiring.
Grounding
Maintain reliable grounding of this equipment. Give particular attention to supply connections when connecting to power strips, rather than direct connections to the branch circuit.
Shock Hazard
Do not attempt to repair or service this device yourself. Internal components must be serviced by authorized personnel only.
Disconnect Power
If any of the following events occurs, immediately disconnect the unit from the outlet and contact Black Box at 724-746-5500.

Quick Start Guide
This Quick Start Guide describes the installation procedure for the Power Fallback Switch. The Power Fallback Switch automatically switches power from a primary input to a secondary input when power to the primary input is lost or interrupted.
Hardware Installation
Apply Power to the Power Fallback Switch
Refer to the warnings and cautions at the beginning of this guide and the power rating nameplate on the Power Fallback Switch back panel, and then connect the unit to two appropriate power sources. For units with detachable power input cables, connect the power input cables to the power inlets, install the cable keepers, and then connect the primary power input cable to your primary power supply and the secondary power input cable to your secondary power supply. Refer to the table in the "Specications" section of this Quick Start Guide for information concerning power requirements and maximum loads.
Notes:
• After connecting your power cables to the Power Fallback Switch, make certain to secure the cables in order to prevent accidental disconnection.
• PFBS120 units are designed for switching power input lines that are typically 120 VAC. If a power input lower than 85 VAC is connected to a PFBS120, then power switching features will not function correctly.
• PFBS240 units are designed for switching power input lines that are typically 240 VAC. If a power input lower than 200 VAC is connected to a PFBS240 units, then power switching features will not function correctly.
Operation
When properly installed, the Power Fallback Switch will automatically switch power from the primary input to the secondary input when the power to the primary input is interrupted. After switching from primary to secondary, the Power Fallback Switch will also switch power back to the primary input when power to the primary input is restored. Note that the "Input Power" LEDs on the Power Fallback Switch front panel will light to indicate which power input(s) has power.
