And it’s compact and easy to
install. You never have to open the
case, thanks to external DTE/DCE
and flow-control switches.
It works with your equipment’s
interfaces, too. Use either a
screw terminal or an RJ-11
connector to attach twisted-pair
cable to the short-haul modem.
And we’ve also included your
choice of serial-interface
connectors—either DB25 or
DB9—plus a DB9-to-DB25 cable
that you can use for either
interface with the included DB9to-DB25 adapter.
The short-haul modem comes
with a quick-connect 115-VAC
wallmount power supply for easy
power connections.
Typical distances over
24 AWG shielded twisted pair
are given in the chart on the next
page.

(6.4 km). Of course, maximum
distances depend on the wire
gauge of the twisted-pair cable
you’re using and the data rate of
your connection. Typical speeds
that you can achieve using
24 AWG cable are shown for
various speeds in Table 1 below.
