OVERVIEW
If your company uses digital PBX technology, you can’t
connect a speakerphone or analog modem to reach the outside
world. But Black Box has the solutions you need with our Linc
Ups. They’re easy to install— just plug one into the handset jack
of your PBX phone.
Choose from three 115-VAC models; 230-VAC versions are
also available on request.
The Mobile Linc Up (MC115A) is ideal for road warriors
and their laptop or notebook computers. You can use its fourposition telephone level switch to match the modem signal
to the telephone being used. The level switch handles most
telephones and enables you to adjust signal levels for optimum
performance.
The Office Linc Up (MC116A) is for office computers and
operates like the Mobile Linc Up. The main difference between
the two models is that the Office Linc Up handles modem speeds
only up to 28.8 kbps.
The Conference Linc Up (MC117A) connects today’s advanced
conference phones to a PBX system. Full-duplex operation
ensures top sound quality. The MC117A can handle modem
speeds up to 33.6 kbps.

Recognize any of these situations?
• You wait more than 30 minutes to get through
to a vendor’s tech support.
• The so-called “tech” can’t help you or gives you
the wrong answer.
• You don’t have a purchase order number and the
tech refuses to help you.
• It’s 9 p. m. and you need help, but your vendor’s
tech support line is closed.
According to a survey by Data Communications
magazine, 90% of network managers surveyed say
that getting the technical support they need is extremely
important when choosing a vendor. But even though
network managers pay anywhere from 10 to 20% of their
overall purchase price for a basic service and support
contract, the technical support and service they receive falls
far short of their expectations— and certainly isn’t worth
what they paid.
At Black Box, we guarantee the best value and the
best support. You can even consult our Technical Support
Experts before you buy if you need help selecting just
the right component for your application.
Don’t waste time and money— call Black Box today.

A Linc Up is easy to calibrate. Simply lift the telephone
handset and listen for the dial tone. Push the “Press to Set”
button on the Linc Up. The dial tone will disappear for approximately six seconds (the Linc Up cuts out the handset while it
sets itself). When the dial tone or handset operation returns,
hang up the phone. The Linc Up is now calibrated to the
telephone set and can be used by the modem.
If you‘re operating a Linc Up from batteries, the data/fax
call must start within one minute after pressing the button.
You must push the “Press to Set” button each time you make
a connection.
If you’re operating a Linc Up from the supplied AC adapter,
the calibration setting will be retained as long as the adapter
is connected to the Linc Up.
You’ll receive the optimum calibration setting when you
get an external dial tone before calibrating. If you require a
prefix (such as a “9”) to dial out on the telephone set, dial
the prefix before pushing the “Press to Set” button.
