External Powe r
ON
External power is applied, an d an act ive host conne ction e xists. The hub wi ll provide 50 0 mA per downst ream port .
OFF
The hub is bus powered (ICI207A only)or no power is present (ICI208A).

OFF
Port has a fault. Power may nee d to be cycled.
Troubleshooting
Problem: The hub is installed, but a downstream
device isn’t working.
Solution: Some USB devices get their power from the USB cable. If you are using the ICI207A without an external power supply, it will only provide 100 mA to the downstream ports. If your devices need more power, connect an external power supply to the ICI207A. It will then provide 500 mA to the downstream ports.
Problem: Do I need drivers for the hub?
Solution: No, the operating system will detect it and
install it automatically.
Problem: How can I be sure it has been installed?
Solution: The new hub will be listed in the Device
Ma nag er.
Troubleshooting (Continued from page 5)
Problem: Can I use USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices
together?
Solution: Yes. USB 2.0 is backwards-compatible with USB 1.0 and 1.1.

Step 2: Connect the Power Supply
ICI207A: The non-isolated Industrial Grade 7-Port USB
Hub (ICI207A) can operate without an external power supply. When the hub is running on USB power, it provides a maximum of 100 mA to each of the downstream ports.
ICI208A: Unike the non-isolated hub, the isolated
Industrial Grade 7-Port USB Hub (ICI208A) will not
operate without an external power supply. You can use the detachable terminal block input or the locking barrel jack. The terminal block is polarity protected.
When powered, the ICI207A and ICI208A will provide 500 mA to each downstream port. They require 10 to 30 VDC of external power and will consume a maximum of 16 W.
NOTE: The ICI208A adds 4-kV isolation.
Step 3: Grounding
We recommend that you ground the chassis. Connect a grounding wire from the green ground lug to a good source of earth ground.

Step 4: LED Status
Figure 6 shows the LEDs on the ICI207A and ICI208A. Table 1 describes their functions.
