USB 2.0↔Single- and Dual-Port RS-232 DIN Rail
Converters (ICD110A–ICD111A)
With these converters, you can add one or two COM ports
to your PC. The converters protect against surges, too. They
provide 15-kV ESD surge protection against spikes and ground
loops. Plus, the converters support data rates up to 12 Mbps
for USB and 460.8 kbps for RS-232, and they use all RS-232
handshaking.

Rail Converters (ICD112A–ICD113A)
Increase your PC’s capability by adding one or two COM
ports. These USB 2.0↔RS-422/RS-485 DIN Rail Converters
include one or two pluggable terminal blocks.
They’re ideal for use on 2-wire RS-485 or 4-wire RS-422/
RS-485 networks. The converters achieve data rates up to
12 Mbps for USB and 921.6 kbps for RS-422/RS-485. Plus, they
support Send Data Control, TDS, TDB, RDA, RDB, and GND
signals.

DIN rail usage.
DIN rail is an industry-standard metal rail, usually installed
inside an electrical enclosure, which serves as a mount for
small electrical devices specially designed for use with DIN
rails. These devices snap right onto the rails, sometimes
requiring a set screw, and are then wired together.
Many different devices are available for mounting on DIN
rails: terminal blocks, interface converters, media converter
switches, repeaters, surge protectors, PLCs, fuses, or power
supplies, just to name a few.
DIN rails are a space-saving way to accommodate
components. And because DIN rail devices are so easy to
install, replace, maintain, and inspect, this is an exceptionally
convenient system that has become very popular in recent
years.
A standard DIN rail is 35 mm wide with raised-lip edges, its
dimensions outlined by the Deutsche Institut für Normung, a
German standardization body. Rails are generally available in
aluminum or steel and may be cut for installation. Depending
on the requirements of the mounted components, the rail
may need to be grounded.
