OVERVIEW

The BLACK BOX®System 3X Repeater enables cost­effective integration of UTP and fiber in IBM 5250 networks.
In addition, it has several other features that make integration
easier than ever before.

For instance, the repeater enables you to integrate fiber
optic cabling with your existing UTP network. A minimal
propagation delay of only 100 nanoseconds means that
critical operations are not affected. Y ou also can extend
distances between the terminals and the processing unit,
up to 2500 feet (762 m) over UTP and 6561.6 feet (2000 m)
over multimode fiber.

By using a balun with the repeater, you even can convert
twinax cable to UTP in a 5250 network. That means greater
cable flexibility and higher port density!
