OVERVIEW
Place up to 4 USB peripherals—along with a speaker, micro-phone, and video monitor—up to 394 feet (120 m) away from a Sun
®
or IBM®compatible PC or server. The ServSwitch Wizard KVM Extender with USB and Audio supports Sun USB keyboards and mice, and PC compatible USB keyboards and mice.
Clear, crisp video and USB version 1.1 signals travel over ordinary CATx (CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6)cable. Your configuration can be complete with just one CATx cable that transfers video signals.
Or, use asecond CATx cable to carry microphone and stereo audio signals. One cable carries video and USB data signals while the second cable accommodates microphone and speaker signals.
The ServSwitch Wizard KVM Extender with USB and Audio consists of a local and a remote unit. The local unit features audio (speaker and microphone), video, and USB inputs. The remote unit has four USB, two audio (speaker and microphone), and one video monitor outputs.
In a typical setup, the local module connects to the system. The remote module attaches to the user and up to four USB peripherals including printers, scanners, or workstations. Both local and remote modules also connect to video and audio. The remote module is powered by an included power supply (PS649-R2). A power supply is required by the local module only when no USB connection is made to the PC. The power supply unit attaches to an AC power source at the local end.
The local and remote modules connect together via up to 394 feet (120 m) of 1 or 2 ordinary Category 5 twistedpair cables.
Place the modules on a desk (or floor) or mount them in a rack. (For rackmounting, order the rackmount chassis (see page 3) or call our FREE Tech support.

Recognize any of these situations?
• You wait more than 30 minutes to get through to a vendor’s tech support.
• The so-called “tech” can’t help you or gives you the wrong answer.
• You don’t have a purchase order number and the tech refuses to help you.
• It’s 9 p. m. and you need help, but your vendor’s tech support line is closed.
According to a survey by Data Communications magazine, 90% of network managers surveyed say that getting the technical support they need is extremely important when choosing a vendor. But even though network managers pay anywhere from 10 to 20% of their overall purchase price for a basic service and support contract, the technical support and service they receive falls far short of their expectations—and certainly isn’t worth what they paid.
At Black Box, we guarantee the best value and the best support. You can even consult our Technical Support Experts before you buy if you need help selecting just the right component for your application.
Don’t waste time and money—call Black Box today.
