2. Overview
2.1 Introduction
The USB to HD Pro conveniently enables customers to play media files stored in a PC
on a big screen by converting USB input into HDMI. Simply connect the USB
interface of the PC to the converter using the included USB cable, and connect

the unit to your home theater system with an HDMI
pictures (resolution up to 720p) and sound on your big screen.

3. Installation
3.1 Install the USB to HD Pro Driver
Step 1: Insert the provided driver CD into your CD-ROM driver. Execute the
Setup.exe file from the USB to HD Pro Driver folder.
Step 2: A dialog box should pop up to prompt you to choose the desired installing
language. After choosing your language, click on “I Accept” to start installation
automatically.

Step 3: After finishing the installation, a dialog box should pop up to tell you to
restart your PC to complete the installation.
3.2 Install the USB Audio Driver
Step 1: Execute the “Setup.exe” file on the provided driver CD.
<Audio Driver> —> <XP> or <Vista>
Step 2: Follow the instructions in the wizard to complete the installation.
Step 3: After finishing the installation, a dialog box should pop up to tell you to
restart your PC to complete the installation.

Step 1: Use the HDMI cable to connect your display device that supports HDMI
input.

4.1 Using the USB to HD Pro DisplayLink Manager
After the driver is installed, a utility (USB to HD Pro DisplayLink Manager) icon will
automatically appear in the system tray. The utility allows you to quickly change the
settings and resolution for the USB to HD Pro. Right-clicking the icon will bring up
the context menu.

Screen Resolution: Select the screen resolution (available only in extended mode).

Extend to: Reposition the extended screen to the top, bottom, left, or right of the
primary display.

Extend: Set the USB to HD Pro to Extended mode. You can access the website on
the VGA monitor and play videos on the HDMI display device.

Mirror: Set the USB to HD Pro to Mirror mode. You can see the same desktop
image on the additional monitor.

NOTE: If there is no picture on the additional monitor, adjust the resolution of the
main screen.
Off: Disable the USB to HD Pro in the system.

Advanced: Directly access the display properties. You can also adjust the
resolution, color quality, position, and refresh rate via the display properties.

4.2 Using the USB to HD Pro After Driver Is Already Installed
You don’t need to install the driver again if you have already installed the driver as
described in Section 4.1. The program will automatically define the new USB to HD
Pro. All USB to HD Pro units will be listed in the display properties or the display
manager menu.

NOTE: When connecting more than one USB to HD Pro to a computer, a system
with higher CPU performance is recommended.

4.3 Firmware Update
Manually Update: Click the Updates—>Check Now…, and the unit will check and
download the latest firmware immediately.
NOTE: Confirm that your computer is already connected to the network.

will appear as shown below. You can then set the update method and frequency.

5. USB PnP Sound Program
The USB PnP sound program is C-Media’s 3D audio control panel that you can use
to control all audio configurations.
After finishing the installation of the Audio Driver and rebooting the system, you
can open “Control Panel” to find “USB PnP Sound Device” and enable it. Or, you
can see the icon in the system tray in the right-bottom of your screen.

Adjust the volume of each source.

5.3 Effect
There are many environment effect presets and 10-band EQ that you can choose
from.
• Select an “Environment” button for emulation that is implemented by producing
the sound reflection and reverberation.
• You can change the “Environment Size” to large or small.
• You can select a pre-set mode (such as Bass, Treble, Live, etc.) for an equalizer
that is actually frequency response. You can also change the gain setting for each
band and then give it a name in the following field.

6.1 Uninstall the USB to HD Pro Driver
Follow the steps below to uninstall the driver of the USB to HD Pro.
Step 1: Open the Control Panel: Start—>Control Panel—>Add or Remove
Programs.
Step 2: Select the “DisplayLink Graphics” and click “Remove,” then follow the
instructions of the uninstall wizard.

6.2 Uninstall the USB Audio Driver
Step 1: Open the Control Panel: Start —>Control Panel—>Add or Remove
Programs.
Step 2: Select the “USB PnP Sound Device” and click “Change/Remove,” then

Appendix: Troubleshooting
Appendix: Troubleshooting
A.1 Problems/Solutions
Problem: The device driver has been installed, but the USB to HD Pro is not
working.
Possible Solutions:
1. Make sure you restart your computer after the driver installation.
2. Check that all the connectors are plugged in correctly.
3. Make sure the USB port that you are using is USB 2.0.
4. Check that the additional monitor is connected correctly and the power is on.
5. Make sure that you are using Windows XP or Vista (32-bit) operating systems.
6. Try a different USB 2.0 device or computer.
Problem: The DVD player is not working when moved over to the extended
display.
Possible Solution: Try to open the program in the additional display first before
playing the DVD.
Problem: The mouse doesn’t move past the right side of the screen as it should on
an extended desktop.
Possible Solution: Check the display settings and make sure that your display
number 2 is on the right side of display number 1.

or repair the unit. It contains no user-serviceable parts. Contact Black Box Technical
