OVERVIEW
Do you need to send high-resolution video, stereo audio,
and full-duplex serial data over UTP cable? Look no further.
The CAT5 Video/Audio/Data System is a signal distribution
system that’s flexible, reliable, and expertly designed for a
wide variety of applications.
Distance.
The CAT5 Video/Audio/Data System’s RGBHV receivers
support distances of 500 feet (152.4 m), 1000 feet (304.8 m),
and 1500 feet (457.2 m), depending on the model. S-Video,
Component, or Composite receivers support distances up to
500 feet (152.4 m).
Design.
Depending on the model, this system can handle RGBHV,
S-Video, Component, and Composite video signals along with
stereo audio and serial data.
Choose a model with a single video port, or if you need to
daisychain your receivers, get one with two video outputs.
To connect S-Video, Component, or Composite video,
order the AC1065A or AC1066A, then add one of the breakout cables (AC1067A or AC1068A).
You can send audio to either embedded or separately
powered speakers, and they feature stereo audio for clear
signal transfers. Built-in skew compensation enables you to
correct video signaling differences.
If you use daisychainable models (AC1062A, AC1063ADA–AC1064A-DA, AC1066A), you can daisychain up to
12 receivers from a single transmitter, which saves money.
You can even daisychain the transmitter.
What’s more, this system is easy to integrate— the units
are operating-system independent and don’t require any
software. Just plug them in and get started!
Applications.
The CAT5 Video/Audio/Data System is engineered for
a wide range of applications.
It’s perfect for touch-screen applications when you need
to have your PC in one place and your touch screens in
another such as conference centers, sports complexes,
colleges, and any other facility where you need to send
and receive video, audio, and data.
You can configure the system as point-to-point for touchscreen applications like a single kiosk or as point-tomultipoint for applications in which you need to control
screens, power, or volume.

Video extenders with built-in skew compensation.
To ensure the best resolution, it’s important to match your
video extension device with a compatible grade of cable.
Some multimedia extenders are not designed to transmit
video across cable that’s higher than CAT5. In fact, with these
extenders, the higher-grade cable may actually degrade video.
CAT5e and CAT6 cables have tighter twists— andmore of
them—than CAT5 cabledoes to reduce crosstalk. For this
reason, the wire distance thatan electrical signal has to travel
is different for each pair. This doesn’t normally cause problems
with data, but if you’resending higher-resolutionanalog video
signals across long cables, youmay see color separation caused
by the video signals arrivingat differenttimes.
If you already have CAT5e or higher cable installed in your
building, you can avoid this problem by ordering an extender
receiver that features built-in skew compensation so it can
work properly with higher cable grades at longer distances.
