OVERVIEW
The BLACK BOX®Video Test Pattern Generator gives you
the functionality of three testing devices in one compact unit.
Because it enables you to generate patterns on VGA, Component, and DVI outputs, it‘s the ideal tool for technicians who need to test, evaluate, and troubleshoot video systems, high-end video gear, and AV installations with different output types. Use the test pattern generator with LCD and plasma screens, CRT monitors, and projectors equipped with PC, Component, or DVI inputs.
Compact and highly portable, the test pattern generator has a durable metal case and its enclosure shields it from any external environmental EMI interference.
Choose your pattern: static or dynamic.
The Video Test Pattern Generator provides 28 test patterns for various high-resolution display devices. These include static color bar, multi-burst, circles, grey scale, and crosshatch patterns, as well as choice of dynamic patterns. One changes the screen gradually from black to white, and another displays a checkerboard pattern that reverses white and black squares about once every second. The latter pattern particularly suits applications where you need to test compression artifacts in video meant for lower-bandwidth transmission.
The test pattern generator also features horizontal bar patterns that help you determine frequency loss in video that’ll be distributed over long cable runs.
Choose your display type and resolution.
For testing an IBM®compatible computer display, the Video Test Pattern Generator works with standard PC resolutions from 640 x 480 to 1280 x 1024 for VGA (as well as for SVGA, XGA, WXGA, and SXGA) and refresh rates up to 85 Hz (for VGA, SVGA, XGA).
Or plug it into your digital or high-definition TV via its Component output to test the Y-Pb-Pr format resolution. The test pattern generator can be programmed for SDTV and HDTV output resolutions (including 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, and 1080i).
The same resolutions can be tested and calibrated when plugged into a DVI display device via a digital DVI-I interface.
Simple to control and with the cables you need.
To get information concerning output resolution and refresh rate settings, simply look to the device‘s onscreen display (OSD). An easy-to-use pushbutton menu gives you straightforward, intuitive control of all pattern-generation functions. For faster setup, you can quickly access a preferred resolution/refresh rate by pressing two buttons.
The test generator has a DVI-I output and a VGA (HD15) output, which serves a dual-purpose role: outputting standard RGBHV VESA signals similar to those output by most PCs and outputting Y-Pb-Pr Component video. Sliding a switch enables you to choose your output mode.
Plus it comes with the cables you need to plug into and troubleshoot display devices, including DVI, VGA, and VGA-toRCA (Component) cables. An LED lights to indicate that the test pattern generator has detected a valid output signal when it’s plugged into a display device.
