1. Preliminary remark
Dear user:
You have chosen a top quality electric pushing aid from Bischoff &
Bischoff. We thank you for your trust in us.
The pushing aid follows the typically simple B+B use and operation
concept. The pushing aid can be folded for transport in a car. The Togo
pushing aid fits most current wheelchairs thanks to its universal adapter plates.
All functions, such as on/off, forwards/reverse, speed regulation and
control, can be operated from the central operating unit on the handlebar. A wheelchair equipped with the Togo pushing aid can optionally
be provided with active lighting, making it well-suited to use outdoors.
Before operating for the first time, please read this manual carefully.
This manual is a permanent and necessary part of the Togo pushing
aid. Please keep the instruction manual within reach and place it at
the new user’s disposal if the pushing aid is transferred to another user.
Repair work and adjustments require specific technical training and,
therefore, may only be carried out by specialist retailers authorised by
Bischoff & Bischoff.

2. Important safety information
2.1. General safety information
• In order to avoid toppling and dangerous situations, you should
practice safe handling of your new wheelchair drive on a flat and
familiar surface. You will be shown how to use the pushing aid and
all functions by an authorised specialist retailer.
• Mounting the bracket onto the standard wheelchair must be undertaken by an authorised specialist retailer.
• Prior to using the pushing aid, please check whether all parts attached have been fastened properly.
• The user (pusher) must be mentally and physically capable of operating the Togo pushing aid.
• The values given in the operating instructions for the wheelchair,
in particular air pressure, max. incline and max. user load must be
adhered to.
• The pushing aid may only be operated by one assisting person (pusher).
• The wheelchair user (user) may not use the Togo pushing aid
themself as a wheelchair drive unit.
• Please use ramps to avoid obstacles where possible.
• Anti-tippers are a requirement when moving on inclines of 8% or
more.
• The maximum incline allowed is 10%.
• Ledges or kerbs should only be negotiated with the pushing aid
drive disconnected or after removing the pushing aid.
• The control unit must always be switched off when leaving or getting into the wheelchair.
• Observe the road traffic regulations when on the road.

• The optional lighting on the wheelchair must at all times be visible
to other road users.
• If possible, wear bright, noticeable clothes. You will then be seen
better by other traffic participants.
• Af ter use, switch off the pushing aid and secure the Togo against
unauthorised use by removing the key.
Please note that disconnecting the driving mechanisms to push the wheelchair may only be undertaken on a horizontal surface. As a result, the brake is
put out of operation. Danger to life in case of nonobservance!
2.2. Advice on EMC disturbances
Despite compliance with all the applicable EMC regulations and standards, it is possible that the electric drive may be disrupted by other
electrical devices (e.g. mobile phones) or that it may disrupt such devices. If you observe such behaviour, switch off either the external device or your pushing aid and move the pushing aid out of reach of the
disturbance.
2.3. Braking
Braking until a complete stop with the pushing aid active is effected by
the automatic brake after having released the control lever.
No locking brake is available in pushing mode when the driving mechanisms are disconnected. The drives must be reconnected to lock the
brakes.
2.4. Safety in vehicles and transport regulations
For transporting in vehicles (cars or similar), remove the pushing aid
from the wheelchair and secure the wheelchair in accordance with the
manufacturer‘s instructions (see operating instructions).
The pushing aid can be folded together for storage in the luggage
space. In open transport spaces, secure the pushing aid against sliding
using straps.
The battery pack must be at least 50% discharged for transporting in,
for example, aircraft.
2.5. Participation in traffic
The pushing aid is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Please
note that you are participating in public traffic and must comply with
road traffic regulations.
Do not endanger other participants through careless driving, particularly on footpaths.
2.6. Purpose
The Togo pushing aid is an electrical auxiliary drive for manual
wheelchairs and is designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
The Togo pushing aid is thus intended solely for use with third parties,
i.e. to support the assisting person (the pusher) when pushing.
The maximum permitted overall weight is the max.
user load of the wheelchair plus the weight of the
wheelchair, up to a limit of 180 kg in total.

2.7. Indications
The Togo pushing aid supports the assisting person when pushing and
braking the wheelchair. Using the Togo pushing aid allows extended
trips to be managed again. The use of the Togo pushing aid is indicated when the wheelchair user cannot move the wheelchair themself
and the assisting person does not have sufficient strength to push the
wheelchair.
2.8. Contraindications
The assisting person must be physically and mentally in the position to
safely operate the pushing aid in all operating situations.
2.9. Declaration of conformity
As the manufacturer with sole responsibility, Bischoff & Bischoff declares that the Togo pushing aid conforms to the specifications of directive 93/42/EEC.
3. Product and delivery overview
3.1. Inspection of delivery
All B+B products are subjected to a proper, final, in-house inspection
and provided with the CE mark. The wheelchair is delivered in a special
cardboard box. Please keep the cardboard box, if possible, after having
unpacked the wheelchair. It may serve for storing the wheelchair at a
later time or returning the product.
Supply, fitting the adapter and instructions will generally be undertaken by the qualified medical supplies retailer.
If delivered by rail or a forwarding agent, the product is to be checked
with regard to transportation damage (cardboard box) at once in the
presence of the shipper. If damaged, please contact our customer service immediately (phone: +49 700/ 6000 7070).

3.2. Scope of delivery
Upon receipt, immediately check the content for completeness. The
content consists of:

4. Installation
4.1. Attaching the adapter plate
The bracket may only be attached by a qualified medical supplies retailer.
The brackets are attached on the side of the standard wheelchair
frame. Depending on the type of wheelchair, the type of attachment
can vary. As a result, the bracket shown here may differ from yours.
The holes already available on the wheelchair frame are used to attach
the bracket. If these are not available, or insufficient, clamping adapters are used.
4.2. Setting the width
As the pushing aid is not permanently fixed to the standard wheelchair,
it can be used by several wheelchair users. However, the width of the
attachment may need to be changed.
• To change the width, loosen the clamping screw of the adapter on
the drive unit.
• Position the pushing aid directly behind the wheelchair with the
brackets attached.
• Pull/push the adapter out and in evenly on the right and left until
the upper and lower adapters fit in the bracket.
• Now firmly tighten the clamping screw again.
4.3. Push handle height
The height of the push handle can be adapted to the requirements of
the assisting person.
• Unscrew the plastic nut and pull the bolt completely out.
• Now you can change the height of the push handle.
• Push the bolt into the nearest hole and firmly tighten the plastic
nut.
5. Using the pushing aid
5.1. Functional description of the
control unit
Having adapted the pushing aid to your personal needs, make yourself
familiar with the functions of the control unit. All control elements can
be operated by an assisting person standing behind the pushing aid.
Key switch
The pushing aid is switched on and off by operating the key. In addition, the lockable control unit offers reliable protection against misuse.
Speed levels
The speed can be preset at 6 levels on the rotary switch. For safety
reasons, there is only one level for reversing, at approx. 1.5 km/h.
Control lever
The electrical drive of the pushing aid is activated by operating the
control lever.

Battery level indicator
The lighting of the battery indicator indicates that the unit is ready for
operation and shows the current state of the batteries.

Pushing mode
The electrical drive is disconnected by pushing the lever downwards.
In this way, the pushing aid can be pushed without the additional
electrical drive.
Caution! The braking function is non-operational as
a result.
After the level is pulled back to the initial position, the drive engages
again.
5.2. Attaching the pushing aid
Thanks to its quick-release fasteners, the Togo pushing aid can easily be
attached to the wheelchair without using tools. Ideally, the wheelchair
user remains in the wheelchair during attachment.
• Apply the locking brake on the wheelchair.
• Switch off the drive unit on the pushing aid and unlock it for
pushing mode.
• Ensure that the locking mechanism is open.
• Move the pushing aid into the lower guide until it stops. The Togo
must be slightly tilted for this.
• Now lever the pushing aid into the upper guides.
• Locking occurs separately on the right and left. To do so, pull the
lever (to release) and then swing it upwards.
• Check that both sides are properly locked.
5.3. Removing the pushing aid
Removing the pushing aid is as simple as attaching it. The wheelchair
user can also remain seated for this.
• Apply the locking brake on the wheelchair.
• Switch off the drive unit on the pushing aid and unlock it for
pushing mode.
• Open the locking mechanism.
• Now lever the pushing aid out of the upper guide.
• You can now pull the pushing aid completely out of the bracket.
• The pushing aid removed can be folded for storage, for example in
a car luggage compartment, using a simple-to-operate lever.
5.4. Driving
In order to avoid toppling and dangerous situations, you should initially practice safe handling of your new Togo pushing aid on a flat and
familiar surface.
• First select the speed (please use the lowest level to practice) and
the direction on the speed level switch.
• Switch on the pushing aid with the key switch.
• Release the locking brake on the wheelchair.
• The Togo starts smoothly by operating the control lever. Braking
occurs automatically by releasing the control lever.
• The wheelchair is steered by setting the direction on the push handle.

5.5. Pushing mode
For pure pushing mode, the Togo can be removed from the wheelchair
as already described. Then push the wheelchair by using the push
handles on the wheelchair.
You can, however, leave the drive unit on the wheelchair and disengage
the drive motor.
• To do so, press the lever downwards.
In this way, the wheelchair can be pushed without the additional electrical drive. The wheelchair user can also move the wheelchair for short
distances with the drive engaged if necessary.

7. Advice on product care
7.1. Cleaning and disinfection
Make sure the Togo is switched off before starting to clean it.
• The frame and coverings can be wiped using a damp cloth. In the
case of heavy soiling, use a mild cleaning agent.
• To clean the wheels, use a damp brush with plastic bristles (do not
use a steel brush!).
• The control unit and hand grips can be disinfected with standard
surface disinfectant.
• Make sure that electric or electronic components do not come into
contact with water!
Caution! Do not use a high-pressure or steam
cleaning device.

7.2. Checks prior to use
7.2.1 Checking the brakes
Prior to each use, please check the operational reliability of the brakes.
• Switch on the Togo, start carefully in the lowest level and then release the control lever. The pushing aid must come to a stop as
usual.
• The motor brake is working correctly if you cannot push the
wheelchair without operating the control lever.
• If it is nevertheless possible, the brake is defective. In such cases, you
must no longer use the pushing aid. Please contact your specialist
retailer at once.
7.2.2 Checking the tyres
Prior to each use, please check the sound condition of the tyres.
Regularly check the profile depth of the tyres once a month. The profile
depth should measure at least 1 mm.
Defective or worn tyres must be replaced by a specialist retailer.
7.3. Lithium-ion battery pack
Only use charger HP 1202B supplied for charging.
Before first use, the battery pack must be fully charged in accordance
with the following instructions.
The battery pack consists of maintenance-free batteries with no need
to check the fluid state and that are protected against total discharge.
7.4. Charging the battery pack
Prior to each use, check the charge status of the batteries by looking
at the battery status display of your control unit. If only the red LEDs
of the battery status display are illuminated, you should no longer undertake any long trips and connect the charger to the pushing aid at
once. To prevent this situation, you can keep a second, charged battery
pack available.
1. Plug the mains plug into the socket. The LED illuminates RED.
2. You can then connect the battery pack and charging begins
automatically. The LED illuminates ORANGE.
3. The charging process is complete when the LED illuminates GREEN.
The battery pack can be charged while it is in the pushing aid (upper
Fig.). Alternatively, the battery pack can be charged at a different location after removal from the pushing aid (lower Fig, battery pack).
The charger should not remain attached to the fully charged battery
pack for more than 8 hours!
8. Service notes for specialist
retailers
We recommend having your pushing aid inspected by a specialist retailer once a year.
In the case of faults and defects on your pushing aid, return it to your
specialist retailer immediately for repair.
On request, B+B will provide specialist retailers with required information, documents and wiring diagrams for repair and service. A training
programme for specialist retailers is available.

9. Disposal
If your pushing aid is not used any more and is to be disposed of, please contact your specialist retailer.
If you wish to dispose of the pushing aid yourself,
please contact your local disposal companies regarding the applicable local regulations.
10. Transferring the pushing aid
When the pushing aid is transferred to another person, ensure that all
technical documentation necessary for its safe use is given to the new
user.
The pushing aid must be checked in accordance with
the servicing schedule and be in perfect working order.
11. Maintenance
A servicing schedule can be made available to you by our customer
service upon request.
12. Warranty
This warranty covers all defects in the pushing aid that are shown to be
caused by material or production defects.
In the case of complaints, please return the product together with the
warranty certificate completely filled in.
Caution! Non-observance of the instruction manual
as well as servicing not carried out properly and in
particular technical modifications and additions (fittings) without the approval of Bischoff & Bischoff
result in both the warranty and the product liability
in general lapsing.
