1. Preface
Dear users,
Having purchased this Bischoff & Bischoff shower aid, you now have a
top German product that will simplify personal hygiene at home.
The shower chair is offered in the Tobago and Tobago SL models. The
Tobago SL is easier for larger users to handle due to its higher seat
position.
This instruction manual will familiarise you with the operation and use
of your B+B shower chair. Please read the instruction manual carefully
before using the product for the first time.

2. Important safety instructions
• Max. user weight – Tobago: 120 kg, Tobago SL: 150 kg.
• Only use the shower chair indoors and with the help of an assistant.
• Adjust all four feet to the same height.
• Ensure that the locking button is seated correctly.
• Be aware of the risk of entrapment when setting up and folding the
seat.
• The seat is appropriate exclusively for sitting.
• Avoid leaning out too far to the side. Risk of tipping.
• The shower chair must be secured against unauthorised use
(especially by children).
2.1. Indications
Unsteadiness when standing or inability to stand with reduced use
or lack of function of lower extremities, (e.g. loss of strength from
malignant diseases; chronic, advanced, heart, circulatory and lung
diseases) combined with weak trunk stability.
2.2. Contraindications
The shower chair is inappropriate for persons:
• with reduced or restricted sitting ability
• with serious cognitive restrictions
2.3. Service life
2.4. Purpose
The shower chair is designed exclusively for sitting in the shower for
users for whom it is still possible to use the shower independently while
sitting down.
The product is for use indoors according to the indications above.
The maximum user weight of 120 kg for the Tobago and 150 kg for the
Tobago SL must not be exceeded.
Please note:
A warranty claim can only be accepted if the product is used under the
specified conditions and for the specified purposes.
2.5. Declaration of Conformity
As the manufacturer of the product B+B declares Tobago and
Tobago SL meet the requirements of Directive 93/42/EEC in full.
2.6. Responsibility
We are able to provide warranty cover only if: the product is used in
accordance with the specified conditions and for the intended purposes,
if modifications, extensions, repairs, and maintenance work are carried
out only by persons authorised to do so by us and if the shower chair is
used in accordance with all instructions for use.
If used as intended, and the safety, care and maintenance instructions
are observed, the expected service life of the shower chair is up to 5
years. The shower chair can continue to be used beyond this period,
provided the product is in a safe condition.

3. Description of product and
contents
3.1. Inspection on delivery
All B+B products are inspected before they leave our factory and the
CE mark is applied.
The B+B shower chairs are delivered in a special box. The product is
delivered and instruction in its use is given by a qualified dealer in
medical products.
If the product is delivered by rail or road transport it must be inspected
for shipping damage in the presence of the delivery person.
If any damage is found, please note the following:
• record the facts
• prepare a declaration of assignment; all claims resulting from the
damage are assigned to the delivery company
• return the record of facts, consignment note and declaration of
assignment to Bischoff & Bischoff GmbH.
In the event of shipping damage...
• Leave the goods and packaging undisturbed and do not use the
goods.
• Report the damage to the transport company in writing as
instructed below.
• Contact our customer service +49 (0)700/6000 7070.
• A representative of the transport company must be informed of any
damage without delay in order to make a claim for compensation.
Externally obvious damage or losses must be confirmed in writing on
consignment note by the delivery person before accepting the package.
Concealed damage that it not obvious until the package is opened
must be reported immediately in writing to the transport company.
All deadlines must be met:
• courier service and post within 24 hours
• rail delivery within 7 days
• road transport within 4 days
after receipt of the package.
Bischoff & Bischoff GmbH will require the original consignment note
with confirmation of damage.
Please pay particular attention to the
highlighted sections.
Compensation from the insurer is not possible without these documents.

4. Assembly and adjustments
Your new B+B shower chair is pre-assembled in a B+B original box.
Attached parts are supplied separately to prevent damage during
transport.
You can carry out the adjustments of your shower chair yourself with
a little manual dexterity. If you have any queries, please contact your

medical supply dealer.
4.1. Installing the feet and adjusting
the seat height
• Insert the foot parts into the respective frame tubes and secure

them with the locking pin (fig. 02).
• Ensure that the safety bracket of the pin is closed (fig. 03).
• The rear feet of the Tobago SL are connected with a strut and are
spread wider (fig. 04). The installation is the same as Tobago.
• You can adjust the seat height of the Tobago using the
corresponding holes.
• Ensure that all feet are adjusted to the same height so the chair is
stable.

4.2. Backrest
The backrest is placed on top of the corresponding side frame element
and secured with the mounting buttons in the holes provided for
them in the frame and backrest (fig. 05).
4.3. Seat
For initial installation the seat of the shower chair must be unfolded
according to the instructions in section 4.4. The seat can then be
pushed back onto the frame (fig. 06). Ensure that the recesses in the
seat are located directly above the frame.
Please make sure to keep your fingers on the seat
cover while unfolding the seat. Otherwise there is a
risk of entrapment!
4.4. Folding/unfolding
Unfolding
• Tilt the two side frames forwards. Fold the seat frame onto the
support surface of the side frame from top to bottom.
• Secure the seat and side frames by inserting the two lock pins into
the holes provided (fig. 07).
• For correct seating, both grip bars and the recesses of the seat must
be oriented towards the front!
Folding
• For folding the pressure pins under the seat the pressure pins must
first be loosened. To do so, press the pressure pin with your thumb
and pull the pin out at the same time (fig. 08).
• Repeat the process on the other side and use your free hand to
prevent the seat from folding down.
• The seat can then be folded down, and the seat frame can be
folded back (fig. 09).

5. Use
Place the shower chair in the shower. Ensure that all four rubber feet
are positioned securely on the floor or in the shower tray. Persons who
cannot use the shower safely, should only enter it with the help of a
carer.
Support yourself on the armrests when sitting down and standing up.
You can now attend to your personal hygiene. Excess water quickly
drains off through the holes in the seat surface.
Remove soap residue after use and dry the shower chair off.
Lifting points
You can lift the shower chair by the metal frame in order to carry it
over obstacles or stairs. Avoid lifting the chair at the seat and backrest.

6. Transport
To make the shower chair as convenient as possible for transport, the
seat can be folded down, and the shower chair can fold up.
7. Storage/shipping
If the shower chair needs to be stored or shipped, it must be folded up
and packed in the box. We recommend keeping the original packaging
so it is available for this purpose if required. It provides optimum
protection for your product from environmental influences during
storage or transport.
8. Repairs
Repairs and maintenance must be done by authorised dealers only
(medical suppliers or specialist dealers). To find a dealer in your area

10. Care instructions for the user
10.1. Cleaning
Clean the material of the seats and seat backs with warm water and
a sponge and/or a soft brush. A standard cleaning agent can also be
used for stubborn soiling.
Note: never use aggressive cleaning agents such as
solvents, scouring agents or hard brushes.
Plastic parts are best cleaned with a standard plastic cleaner. Please
pay particular attention to the product information of the cleaning
agent.
10.2. Disinfection
The shower chair can be disinfected using a general-purpose household
disinfectant. Use approved spray-disinfectants or alcohol-based wipedown disinfectants.

11. Maintenance
Your shower chair is made of high-quality materials for a long life of
comfortable use. Every product is thoroughly checked before it leaves our
premises. Nevertheless it is possible a defect may arise. If a defect arises
with your shower chair, do not continue to use it. With regard to repairs,
contact the medical supply dealer, who supplied the product to you. He
will be pleased to assist you. We further recommend that the shower
chair is serviced at least once a year. Your medical supply dealer receives
a servicing schedule from us, together with the documentation required
for inspections. Our Customer Service department will be pleased to
answer any questions you may have with regard to process, and to offer
advice and information on the free-phone number 0700/6000 7070.
You must have your shower chair regularly checked
in accordance with the service schedule, and verified
as being in good condition.
12. Disposal
If your shower chair is no longer being used and is to be disposed of,
please contact your medical supply dealer.
If you wish to dispose of the product yourself, contact
local recycling companies to enquire about the
regulations that apply to your place of residence.
13. Transferral of the shower chair
to another user
The shower chair is suitable for re-use. Before it is transferred to another
user it should be serviced by the medical supply dealer and hygienically
cleaned. When transferring the shower chair to another user, please
remember to give the new user this operating manual and the address
of your medical supply dealer.
14. Warranty
The warranty covers all defects of the shower chair that can be traced
back to a material or manufacturing defect. If you make a claim under
the warranty, please submit the completed warranty certificate with
the claim.
We provide the statutory warranty of 2 years for
this product.
Please also observe the B+B care, warranty, hygiene and maintenance
instructions. Your medical supply dealer will be happy to provide you
with these.
Any disregard of the operating manual, incorrectly performed
maintenance work and/or technical modifications, and any additions
(attachments) done without the approval of Bischoff & Bischoff GmbH
shall result in the cancellation of the both the warranty and any general
product liability.
