BIOLAN WIND FAN
Installation instructions
Biolan Wind Fan is an efcient wind-powered exhaust fan. It is ideal for improving the ventilation of warehouses, dry toilets, bathrooms, wastewater treatment plants and other locations that require good ventilation. Operation of the Wind Fan does not depend on wind direction.
Contents:
• Biolan Wind Fan
• installation instructions
• stainless steel screw, 3 pcs
• oil bottle
• plug, 2 pcs
• material: aluminium
ttings: Ø 75 mm and Ø 110 mm
1. Before installation:
Pouring oil into the fan
• Twist open and remove the cap nut and the washer from the top of the Wind Fan's impeller.
• Lift away the impeller. Observe the washer inside the impeller. Lift away the protective cap for the bearing.
• Pour oil into the holes in the bearing cup cover. Continue until the
holes are full up (Fig. 1).
Close the holes using the plugs (Fig. 2).
Push the bearing cap along the shaft all the way to its root (Fig. 3).
• Put the impeller back in place. Check that the shim on the inside of the impeller is in position, with its convex face pointing downwards. Make sure the impeller descends all the way to the root of the bearing cap. You can push the impeller down vertically, but be careful not to bend the impeller blades.
• Put the washer in place and tighten the cap nut.

2. Installing the Wind Fan
Install the fan on a pipe that is strong enough to support the weight of the
fan and the wind load. Install the Wind Fan at a sufcient height from the
roof so that, for example, snow cannot impede its rotation. Install the fan in a vertical position to enable its smooth rotation.
On delivery the fan is equipped with a reduction sleeve (from 110 mm to 75 mm) to make it t directly onto a 75 mm pipe. If the pipe has a xed
sleeve, saw it away or put a straight piece of pipe onto the sleeve. For
installing the fan on a pipe 110 mm in diameter, remove the reducer
from the fan.
Attach the Wind Fan to the pipe using the screws included in the package.
Be careful not to bend the blades when handling the fan. Do not press the fan by its blades!
Install the fan in such a manner that no one can be injured by it. Blades of the fast-rotating fan may be dangerous for example to children or animals.
3. Problems that may occur
The fan does not rotate
It is normal that over time the Wind Fan will lose its extreme mobility.
If the fan stops rotating, make sure that:
• the cap nut on top of the impeller is in place.
• the gasket at the root of the shaft has not dried out. Dismantle the
impeller and rotate it for a while, while upside down, to make oil ow
back between the gasket and the bearing cup.
• if necessary, top up oil in the bearing. After topping up oil, keep the fan in an upright position only.
The Biolan Wind Fan is made from aluminium and must not
be used as an aspirator for ue gases.
The Biolan Wind Fan is guaranteed for one year.
