1. INTENDED USE

This liquid handling device is designed and manufactured to be used with
the IVD-product as an IVD-accessory and as a stand alone laboratory
equipment.

2. BIOHIT eLINE CHARGING STAND

The Biohit eLINE Charging Stand and Carousel are bench top charging
units. The Stand accommodates one Biohit eLINE pipette and the Carousel
four Biohit eLINE pipettes.

3. INSTALLING THE CHARGING STAND/CAROUSEL

1. Carousel: Connect the four place charging head by pressing it into the
stand base connector. Test for free rotation (Fig. 1A).

2. Carousel and Stand: Connect the AC-adaptor to the socket at the rear
of the Charging Stand/Carousel (Fig. 1B and Fig. 1C).

3. Carousel and Stand: Connect the AC-adaptor to the electrical outlet
(Fig. 1B and Fig 1C).

Note: Before connecting the AC-adaptor to the electrical outlet, check that
its voltage settings corresponds to the voltage settings of your electrical
outlet.

4. ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS

AC-adaptor for Charging Stand or direct charging

- Input voltages and main plug according to local requirements

- Output voltage 7.5 VDC, 300 mA
AC-adaptor for Charging Carousel

- Input voltages and main plug according to local requirements

- Output voltage 9 VDC, 1200 mA
Note: To guarantee optimal charging, do not use any other than the original
AC-adaptor supplied by the manufacturer!

5. CHARGING OF THE eLINE PIPETTE

The Biohit eLINE Charging Stand or Carousel are intended to be used only
with Biohit eLINE electronic pipettes. However, the Biohit eLINE also features
direct charging by using the Biohit eLINE AC-adaptor supplied with the Biohit

eLINE Charging Stand.

The Biohit eLINE pipettes leave the factory fully
charged. The battery is protected against discharging
during the storage with a plastic protector strip,
which must be removed before operating the pipette.
However, should the battery become discharged
during storage and recharging is required, a battery
symbol will be observed in the bottom right corner of
the display (Fig. 2.).

Note: If the battery is fully discharged, the display will be empty and there will
be no response from the operating buttons. After a few minutes on charge,
the battery symbol will be displayed and the + and – symbols will continue
to blink until the battery is fully charged.

5.1. Charging with the Biohit eLINE Charging Stand Carousel

The eLINE Charging Stand and Carousel operates through the metal contacts
situated on the sides of the pipette (Fig. 3A) and in the head of the Charging
Stand/Carousel (Fig. 3B and Fig.3C).

1. Check that the battery protector strip is removed and the battery cover
properly closed.

2. Place the pipette into the Charging Stand/Carousel. Ensure that the metal
contacts on the sides of the pipette are properly fi tted to the tracks of the
metal contacts in the top of the Charging Stand/Carousel.

3. When charging, the battery symbol will be displayed with the + and
symbols fl ashing. The charging time for completely discharged batteries
is 4 hours.

4. When the battery is full the battery symbol disappears from the display.
If display shows RESET and PRESS TIP, press the tip ejection button to
reset the pipette, the pipette will then be ready for use.

Note: Never reset with the tip attached as the attached tip can induce an
error in home position determination of the piston and ejector collar!

Note: When the pipette is not in use it is recommended to keep the pipette
in the Charging Stand/Carousel. This ensures that the battery is kept charged
and the pipette is ready for use.

5.2. Charging through direct charging system

The AC-adaptor supplied with the Biohit eLINE Single
Charging Stand can be used for direct charging of the
Biohit eLINE electronic pipette. The socket for the AC­adaptor is situated at the back of the pipette (Fig.4.).

1. Before connecting the AC-adaptor to the electrical
outlet, check that its voltage settings corresponds
to the voltage settings of your electrical outlet.

2. Check that the battery protector strip is removed
and the battery cover properly closed.

3. Connect the AC-adaptor to the electrical outlet as
well as to the socket at the back of the pipette.

4. The length of the charging time is 2.5 hours for
completely discharged batteries.

Note: It is possible to continue pipetting while the

eLINE pipette is charged through the AC-adaptor

(Fig. 5). However the pipette should not be operated
continuously with the AC-adaptor connected. With fully
discharged battery a 5 minute initial charging is required
before continuing the pipetting.

6. MAINTENANCE

The Biohit eLINE Charging Stand/Carousel is practically maintenance free.
When the Charging Stand/Carousel is used according to the instructions
given in this manual, only regular cleaning of the Charging Stand/Carousel
is needed to ensure trouble-free operation. To clean the Charging Stand/
Carousel use a clean cloth and mild detergent.

7. WARRANTY INFORMATION

Biohit eLINE Charging Stand/Carousel is warranted for 2 years against
defects in materials and workmanship. Should it fail to function in any way
during this period of time, please contact your local Biohit representative
immediately. The warranty will not cover defects caused by normal wear or by
using the Charging Stand/Carousel in a manner contrary to the instructions
given in this manual. Each Biohit eLINE Charging Stand/Carousel is tested
by the manufacturer before shipping. The Biohit e LINE Charging Stand/
Carousel is CE/IVD marked, fulfi lling the requirements of EN 55014, 1993/
EN 55104, 1995/ ISO 13485:2003 and Directive (98/79/EC).

8. RECYCLING INSTRUCTION (WEEE)

In compliance with European Directive, WEEE (2002/96EC) on
waste and reducting of hazardous substances in electical and
electronic equipments, this device must not be recycled as
unsorted municipal waste. Instead this device must be collected
separately in accordance the local recycling regulations. The
solid bar used in conjuction with the crossed-out wheeled bin
indicates that the product was put on the European market after
13 August 2005.
