Lithium Ion Battery Care:
FULLY CHARGE BATTERIES BEFORE FIRST USE - Batteries should be fully charged immediately when they
are received and immediately after each use for the recommended charge times.
• Li-Ion (Lithium Ion) batteries 4-6 hours
Q: Do I need to Perform a “break-in” on my battery?
A: Yes, it is recommended that you perform a “break-in” cycle consisting of ~ three discharge/charge cycles to
allow your batteries to reach optimum performance. This involves three complete discharges and three complete
recharges. After this initial “break-in” cycle the batteries will have maximum possible performance and less line
voltage fluctuations under load.
Q: Is it normal that the batteries get warm when recharging?
A: Yes, it is normal that the batteries will become warm to the touch during the recharging process. This is because the
increase of internal resistance and less energy conversion efficiency from electric energy to chemical energy.
Optimizing Battery Life / Range:
•
Perform Your Break In cycle immediately, this will optimize the
lithium cells in your battery for optimum performance, failure to
do so will result in less battery life, less torque and less range.
•
Like laptops, leaving your charger plugged into the unit, will decrease
your battery life significantly. only charge when needed, 6 hours max.
•
for more accurate charge cycles, use a outlet timer, set to 6 hours
max.
•
when taking hills, use lower gears to make it easier to climb, however
when you are taking a hill, your motor and battery work harder which
leads to less range. use your throttle moderately for this
•
limit throttle use or use moderately, the constant use of the throttle
can reduce range/ battery life by up to 50%
•
do not overload, stay within the recommend weight load, overloading
can cause your motor to temporarily shut off, for up to 30 minutes, it
will make the motor work harder thus requiring more energy and
giving you less range and battery life.
•
Weather conditions under 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) will Affect
Your battery.
•
If there is Wind, you may experience drag, thus a reduction in range
•
low tire pressure can significantly increase drag, which will result in
less range
•
Pedaling will give you the longest range, avoid frequent stop
and go.
