Expansion Valve – Freezers (TXV Valve)
Benefits of expansion valve
Maximum efficiency over a wide temperature & load
condition.
Improved refrigerant return to compressor ensure better
cooling at wide range of temperatures & reduces the possibility of liquid slugging which can destroy the compressor.
Ambient
Class
of 100°F
Variations of capacity over the ambient temperature range
of 80°F can cause a performance loss of 85% with a cap tube system on freezers maintaining 0° to -10°F. An expansion valve system will use less than ½ this amount while maintaining better cabinet temperature control.
When temperatures rise, the expansion valve balances
the refrigerant flow to the heat load by sensing the temperature of the refrigerant leaving the evaporator & opens when necessary to increase refrigerant to provide
quicker recovery.

Horizon Series
Top Mount vs. Bottom Mount –
1/2 solid vs. solid
When do I order a Top Mount vs. a Bottom Mount?
Answer: Ideally, Top Mount units should be used in the “front of
the house”/cook line. Bottom Mount units ideally are meant for
“back of the house” dry storage. Dust/dirt potential for clogging
of coil (for bottom mount units placed in the front of the house).
Horizon Top Mount
Ambient
Class
of 100°F
When to use a 1/2 solid door unit?
Answer: Cooler or freezer next to
fryer/dump stations or 90°F + kitchens
