4 Alarm control panel NORMA4 and NORMA8
INTRODUCTION
The NormaQuattro and NormaOtto control panels
The NormaQuattro and NormaOtto control panels are available in 4 versions:
NormaQuattro/N 4 zone control panel with mechanical key incorporated.
NormaOtto/N 8 zone control panel with mechanical key incorporated.
NormaQuattro/K 4 zone control panel with electronic key incorporated.
NormaOtto/K 8 zone control panel with electronic key incorporated.
This handbook refers to and combines all 4 versions as the operating
methods are identical for all the models, the only thing that changes is the
number of zones present (four or eight) and the presence of the mechanical or electronic key on the front panel.
Electronic key Key readers for electronic keys can be mounted on all the control panel
Control Keypad At the control panel it is also possible to connect a remote Control Keypad
models, positioned externally, usually on the electrical installations box.
The operating instructions of these key readers are the same as those of
the key reader found on the panel of the K versions.
by which you can control all the functions of the system. In particular, it is
possible to arm and disarm the system by means of entering a secret
user’s code of four or five figures, in this way the utilization of the keys is
not necessary.
Your installer will be able to show you the special characteristics of the
particular plant, whilst in this handbook you will find the instructions for all
the operations that can be carried out on the system.
Figure 1 illustrates the control panel (NormaOtto/N) and the optional accessories: the Control Keypad, the key reader and the digital key.
The following instructions refer to 8 zone models. If the model installed is a
4 zone one, bear in mind that the 5 to 8 zones don’t exist.
Glossary of the technical terms
ARMING - Arming the antitheft system means activating the alarms at the
moment in which the protected zones are violated.
DISARMING - Disarming means allowing the protected zones to be en-
tered without setting off the alarms.
SERVICE MODE - This is a particular condition of the control panel in
which the alarms are disarmed and the buttons on the front panel are operational.
INTRODUCTION 5
ALARM - A danger signal which requires an immediate and adequate in-
tervention on the part of the personnel.
ELECTRONIC KEY - A key with a numerical code (4 billion combinations)
enabling the controlling of the antitheft system.
KEY READER - A device for reading the electronic key.
CONTROL KEYPAD - A Keypad through which it is possible to operate all
the functions of the control panel.
ALARM ZONE - One or more sensors that protect determined zones of the
residence can be connected to an alarm zone.
EXIT TIME - The time that you have at your disposal after having armed
the system for withdrawing from the protected area without setting off the
alarm.
ENTRY TIME - The time that you have at your disposal for disarming the
system after having entered the protected area violating a delayed zone.
DELAYED ZONE - A zone through which you can leave or enter a pro-
tected area without setting off the alarm if you respect the established exit
and entry times.
ZONE EXCLUSION - Excluding an alarm zone means arranging that the
control panel ignores that zone, therefore violating it will not set off the
alarm.
PARTITIONING - Partitioning the system means excluding a group of
zones. In this way the system is armed but a part remains inactive so that
you can stay in a restricted zone inside the protected building.
PARTITIONING GROUPS - A group of zones where partitioning is carried
out.
ANTI-SABOTAGE ZONE - A particular zone, called 24h, which is always
active. Whether the system is armed or disarmed it will set off an alarm after a violation of the security system components.
ALARM MEMORY - A circuit for the memorization of the zones that have
had an alarm. The memory is activated up to the automatic or manual resetting of the alarm zone.
EXTENSIVE VISUALIZATION - A particular phase in which the lights on
the front panel assume a different meaning to the standard one for displaying particular indications.
USER’S CODES - Numerical codes of 4 or 5 figures for arming/disarming
the system and gaining access to the other functions.
INSTALLER’S CODE - A code of 4 or 5 figures which allows the installer
to gain access to the programming procedure of the control panel parameters.

The control panel
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Lights On the front panel there are a certain number of lights that indicate the
condition of the alarm zones and the general condition of the system. In
particular there are 2 lights for each alarm zone marked L1 .. L8 and E1 ..
E8, which respectively indicate the condition of the entry zone and the condition of the exclusion.
L1 .. L8: these are off when the corresponding zone is under normal condi-
tions; they are on when the zone is violated; they flash when an alarm has
been memorized; they flash quickly when, as well as having an alarm
memorized, the zone remains in alarm.
E1 .. E8: these are off when the corresponding zone is not excluded; they
are on when the zone is excluded; they flash when the zone is being
tested.
In the extensive visualization position, the lights listed below assume a different meaning to the usual one:
L1 .. L8: Indicate the alarm memories prior to the last resetting operation.
E1 (Fuse): indicates the burning out of the fuse placed to protect the
power supply of the entry zone.
E2 (Main): indicates the lack of voltage: the control panel will be supplied
by the internal battery. If this condition continues for long it will result in the
running down of the same battery.
E3 (Battery): if the light is on it indicates that the battery is run down or
that there is a fault in the battery charging circuit, if flashing it refers to the
battery of the siren.
E4 (Bus): indicates a faulty functioning of the communications with the ex-
ternal command devices (Keypad and additional key readers).
On the right side there are 6 LEDS indicating the operating conditions of
the system:
Armed: indicates the arming/disarming condition of the system. Lit up
means that the system is armed.
Alarm: lights up when there is a state of alarm, flashes when an alarm has
been memorized.
Warning: if lit up it indicates that there is a fault in the system. You must
check what type of fault you’re dealing with by means of the extensive
visualization and subsequently consult the technical assistance.
During the extensive visualization phase this light will flash.
Ready: ready for arming. This means that it is possible to arm the system
without setting of the alarm being that all the zones are in a state of rest.

24h: when lit up indicates the opening of the anti-sabotage zone;
when flashing it indicates the memorization of the alarm on the anti-sabotage zone.
Service: indicates the service mode of the control panel; if flashing it indi-
cates the programming condition from the Keypad.
Furthermore, in the electronic key versions there are 3 lights connected to
the key reader. For an explanation of these lights see the following paragraph "The digital key".
Buttons On the panel there is a button utilized for excluding the corresponding
Buzzer The control panel is equipped with a buzzer which supplies responses to
shrill sound: Indicates the pressure of a button;
deep sound: Indicates a state of error;
long, shrill sound: Indicates that a command has been accepted.
The electronic key
Lights On the key reader (externally situated or placed on the panel in the K ver-
RED LED: indicates the condition of the system: on if the system is armed,

All the buttons normally are not functionable and the control panel must be
put in the service mode in order to operate them.

By means of the electronic key, operated by NormaQuattro and NormaOtto, it is possible to carry out in a quick and simple manner the main
operations on the system.
There are two different levels of keys: the "master" key (main key) with
which you can carry out all the possible operations; the secondary key
which is enabled only for the exclusion of the partitioning groups.

The indication on the key readers can be attained always or only when a
