GENUINE BELL & GOSSETT
REPLACEMENT SEAL KIT

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL PUMPS
EQUIPPED WITH MECHANICAL SEAL

1. Remove impeller, old seal assembly, insert, and insert cup.

2. Clean shaft, shaft sleeve and insert recess. Apply soap & water
lubricant when installing new insert cup and insert.

3. When pump and motor shafts are separate, push pump shaft
forward from rear of bearing assembly to take up end play.
Maintain this position while pressing seal firmly in place.

4. Moisten inner diameter of seal ring assembly and press down
tightly on pump shaft. Carbon seal face must be tight against
insert.

5. Replace impeller and reassemble in line. Be sure to vent air
from pump body thoroughly before operating.

bronze-fitted construction with 1-5/8” shaft sleeve diameter.

186544 (Kit No. 9)

Used on 1531 and 1510 pumps of all iron construction with 1-5/8”
shaft sleeve diameter.
