• To prevent serious burns, the internal pressure of the trap must be 0 psi (0 bar) before servicing.

INSTALLATION –
For Hoffman Specialty Series 8C or 9C with old style disc type elements
1. Remove the trap cover (A) from the body (B).

2a. Unscrew the thermostatic element (C) from
the cover (A).
b. Discard the old thermostatic element and
shroud (
, and washer (D).C)C)
3. Using a 3/4” (19mm) socket wrench,
remove and discard the seat (E) from
the trap body (B).

4. Using a scraper, remove any scale or
debris inside the trap body (B) especially
around the seat area (F). Do not scratch
seating surface area.
5. Screw the new thermostatic
module (G) into the threaded port (H)
inside the trap body.
6. Using a spanner wrench (J),
tighten the module to approximately
12 lbf•ft (16 N•m).
Note: spanner wrenches are available
from Hoffman Specialty.

7a. Reinstall and tighten the trap cover (A)

b. Slowly open the steam supply valve.
c. Check for leaks and tighten connections,
if necessary.
For Hoffman Specialty Series 8C and 9C with
Thermostatic Module
1. Remove the trap cover (A) from the body (B).
2a. Remove the thermostatic element (C) from
the trap body (B).
b. Discard the old thermostatic element (C).
3. Using a scraper, remove any scale or
debris inside the trap body (B) especially
around the seat area (D). Do not scratch
seating surface area.

4. Screw the new thermostatic
module (E) into the threaded port (F)
inside the trap body.
5. Using a spanner wrench (G)
tighten the module to approximately
12 lbf•ft (16 N•m)

MAINTENANCE
SCHEDULE:
