1 INTRODUCTION

These instructions describe the installation of the Bellfi res Wi-Fi box and the use of the
accompanying Bellfi res Gas app for the Bellfi res appliances.

The Bellfi res Gas app is suitable for use on a smartphone or tablet and can be
downloaded free via the Play Store (Android) or App Store (Apple).

The Bellfi res Gas app extends the fi re’s possibilities. It is possible to set personal
preferences per user. It is also possible to carry out fault diagnostics remotely.

Once the Bellfi res Wi-Fi box has been installed, it is still possible to operate the fi re
using the remote control supplied. For remote control operation, consult the manual
‘Instructions for use & Daily Maintenance’.

2 INSTALLATION OF THE BELLFIRES WI-FI BOX

IMPORTANT

The installation must only be carried out by a

“Gas Safe Register” registered installation engineer.

2.1 COMPONENTS

The operating components comprise the following parts.

• Bellfi res Wi-Fi box • Receiver (can be recognised by the

2.4 INSTALLATION BELLFIRES WI-FI BOX

If the fi re is not fi tted with Wi-Fi control, then the existing receiver can be replaced by a
receiver with Wi-Fi functionality using the instructions below.
The installation of the Wi-Fi box is also described.
In this case the hand transmitter must also be exchanged for a model that is suitable for
communication with the new receiver.

• Disconnect the connected receiver (which can be recognised by the green sticker,
receivers before October 2015 are provided with a silver sticker) and connect the
disconnected cables to the new receiver (with blue sticker).

• Connect the receiver with the Bellfi res Wi-Fi box using the cable supplied. Connect
this cable to the input “SI” on the receiver and the input “Receiver” on the Bellfi res
Wi-Fi box.

• Connect the 6 VDC mains adapter to the receiver.

• As soon as the Bellfi res Wi-Fi box is connected, the LED lights will light up.

• Optionally, an external temperature sensor can be connected to the Bellfi res Wi-Fi

box (˚C/˚F) to measure the room temperature. The end of the sensor must be placed
outside the immediate radiation area of the fi re.
Note: If the external temperature sensor is not connected, then the room temperature
will be read by the hand transmitter.

• The Bellfi res Wi-Fi box can now be set using the Bellfi res Gas app. The fi re can then
be operated using the Bellfi res Gas app.

• The fi re can also be operated with the hand transmitter supplied with the Bellfi res
Wi-Fi box (can be recognised by the blue sticker). Once the Wi-Fi box is installed, it
is no longer possible to operate the fi re using the old hand transmitter.

3 SETTING UP THE BELLFIRES GAS APP

The Bellfi res Gas app is available for Apple and Android tablets and smartphones.
Minimum requirements for tablet/smartphone - iOS 8.0 or Android 4.4
Search in the Google Play Store or in the Apple App Store on “Bellfi res gas”.
The Bellfi res Gas app can be downloaded for free.
Once the Bellfi res Gas app has been downloaded, it can be installed straight away.
To set your Bellfi res Gas app, you need the name (SSID) and password of your Wi-Fi
router.

System requirements for Wi-Fi router:

• Compatible with IEEE 802.11n/g/b

• WPA2 encryption

• Radio frequency: 2,4 GHz band

• Wireless auto channel; automatic search for Wi-Fi radio channel, free of interference

• Supports User Datagram Protocol (UDP)

Attention: If the Wi-Fi router is part of a corporate network, or if the router is suitable
to be included in a corporate network, the User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
and/or broadcasting needs to be enabled in the router settings.

If the UDP protocol and/or broadcasting are not enabled, the router is not visible to the
Wi-Fi box and they cannot be linked together.
To change the router settings, refer to the corresponding manual or contact the manu­facturer of the router.

After connecting the Wi-Fi box to the home network, the initial router settings can be
restored, if desired. The connection between the Wi-Fi box and the home network will
remain.

NB: In routers for home use, the UDP protocol is generally always enabled.

Android tablet may differ from these shown screenshots.

3.3 CONNECT THE TABLET OR SMARTPHONE TO THE BELLFIRES WI-FI BOX

The Bellfi res Wi-Fi box which is installed in the fi re (see chapter 2) creates its own
network.
To operate the fi re using the Bellfi res Gas app, the Bellfi res Wi-Fi box’s network must
connect to your own home network (wifi router).

Before starting the connection procedure, check:

• The home network availability

• The home network name and password

• That the SSID of the router is not hidden from the Wi-Fi box

• That the home network signal is within range of the Wi-Fi box

• That the Wi-Fi router supports User Datagram Protocol (UDP)

A total of 8 fi res can be linked.

Important: If the Bellfi res Wi-Fi box is still not displayed after a few minutes, the

Users of IPhone or IPad with iOS 10.0 or higher:
After selection of the network “myfi re_WiFi-box” a message appears “No internet
connection”. This message can be ignored. Continue with the instructions below after
selection of the network “myfi re_WiFi-box”.

Once the Bellfi res Wi-Fi box of the appliance has been connected to your home net­work, the fi re’s specifi cations can be entered into the Bellfi res Gas app.

3.5 CONNECTING EXTRA MOBILE DEVICES

Once you have connected a mobile device to the Bellfi res Wi-Fi box for the fi rst time,
you can connect other mobile devices.

• Download the Bellfi res Gas app from the App Store or Google Play on the mobile
device that you want to connect

• Start the Bellfi res Gas app

• Log in to the Bellfi res Gas app (see page 15).

• The Bellfi res Gas app will display the connected Wi-Fi boxes.
Then, click on ‘Start app’.
Now you can operate the fi re from the mobile device.

Note: Make sure that the mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the
Bellfi res Wi-Fi box during the initial installation procedure.

4 OPERATING THE FIRE WITH THE BELLFIRES GAS-APP

4.2 EXPLANATION OF THE SYMBOLS

Switches the fi re on or off.

will set the fan system’s speed.

Lighting (optional)
If the fi re is fi tted with lighting, this will switch
the lights on or off or dim them.

AUX
Switch between single burner and double burner.

Child lock
Activating the child lock switches off all operating
functions, with the exception of the OFF button.

General fi re settings.

Access to help pages for the various
app functions.

If the screen is not touched for half a minute in one of the functions, the app will
automatically switch to the start screen. The selected function (e.g. timer, light or
ECOwave) will remain active in the background, as long as it is not switched off by the
user.

4.3 MENU FUNCTIONS

Manual operation

Adjust the fl ame height by moving your fi nger over the coloured circle. At the left­ most position (lowest fl ame) or rightmost position (highest fl ame), the relevant
fl ame icon at the bottom of the display will also light up.

With the 3 buttons at the bottom, a low fl ame, pilot light setting or high fl ame
respectively can be chosen directly. Then “LO”, “STANDBY” (= pilot light) or
“HI” will then fl ash in the circle. The displayed temperature is the measured
room temperature.

Thermostat

Change the set temperature by moving your fi nger over the coloured circle,
or by touching one of the coloured segments.

Timer

The time interval after which the fi re will switch itself off can be set using the
timer. The maximum time that can be set is 09:59 hours. Start the timer by
pressing the “power” button at the bottom of the timer. Pressing the “power”
button again will stop the timer.

Important:
Check whether the time as set in the Bellfi res Gas app matches with the system
time of the mobile device you are using for the Bellfi res Gas app.
To do this, go to the “Settings” menu and choose at “Fireplace settings” the name
of the gas appliance.
Then you can check the set time at “Time settings”.

ECOwave

A selection can be made between three dynamic fl ame heights, whcih can be
repeated every 15, 20 or 25 minutes as desired. Select the fl ame height with
the fl ame icons and adjust the time interval with the left button. The potential
gas saving is visible on the left.

The thermostat can be activated by pressing the ˚C button. The temperature
will then be controlled by the temperature set with the thermostat function.
The thermostat only works in combination with the right-hand fl ame pattern
gradient.
After activation of the ECOwave function, the ECOwave symbol and “APP”
will appear in the remote control window.

Fan system (optional)

Set the fan system to the required continuously adjustable setting from position 1
(slow) to position 4 (fast).
Start and stop the fan system with the “power” button at the bottom of the screen.

The fan always starts in position ‘4’. After a few seconds, the fan will switch to the
last position set before the fi re was turned off.

After turning the fi re off, the fan will run for another 10 minutes.

Lighting (optional)

Set the light intensity by moving over the lamp from top to bottom or the reverse.
The lamp can be switched on or off with the “power” button at bottom right.

AUX (double burner)

Only for fi res fi tted with a double burner (Centre Fire burner, Line Fire burner
or a Premium Fire burner).
Switch between a single burner and a double burner by clicking the ++ symbol.
If both burners are active, the ++ symbol in the right hand menu will turn yellow.

Child safety

If the child safety is activated, then it is only possible to switch the fi re off with
the on/off button. All other functions are unavailable. Activate the child safety
by pressing the child symbol in the menu for a few seconds. Once the safety
mechanism is activated, the following screen will appear.
