David Belles began his engineering career with vacuum tubes before becoming involved with transistors. It was his experience of hearing different vacuum tube preamplifiers with his state-of-the-art amplifier designs that caused the interest in vacuum
tubes to be revived. Further research confirmed the
validity of vacuum tubes as a voltage amplifying
device.
The 21A has the superior sound that you expect
from a David Belles designed vacuum tube preamplifier. The 21A has two stages of amplification. The
first voltage gain stage consists of a vacuum tube triode pair in differential amplifier configuration. The
second stage consists of transistor emitter followers.
The result is reduced distortion and improved ability
to drive preamplifer loads.
The Belles 21A, when coupled with a Belles solidstate power amplifier, creates a three dimensional
image, with dynamics and a greater level of musicality.
