an open location away from large metal objects and magnets
suc h as tho se found in spea ker s. Raising th e R outer ab ove
floor level can improve the strength of your wireless signal.

1. Co nnect your Ro ute r’s Et herne t c able to you r m odem’s Et herne t
por t (on the back of your modem). This port migh t be lab eled
dif ferently on your pa rt icula r mod em. If you are ad ding a
Rou ter fo r the fi rst t ime, t his p or t may be co nnect ed to your
computer by an Ethernet cable. It is OK to disconnect your
computer and plug the Router into the modem instead.
2. Plug the Router’s power supply into a wall outlet.
3. Put the CD into your com puter. If th e CD doe sn’ t
ope n automa tical ly, pleas e b rowse to your CD drive
and double- click on the Belkin Setup CD icon.
4. Click the Setup icon on the CD menu.

card under the base of your Router for future reference.

ins talle d. This may take a few minutes to compl ete . O nce
fin ished , a “Suc ce ss” messag e w ill appe ar in dicat ing that yo u
are connected to the Internet via your new Belkin Router.
During setup you may be asked for additional information.
You m ay need to enter a u sername an d p as swo rd provi ded
by your ISP. Th is us ernam e a nd pa ssword is l ike ly to be
found on mater ials tha t cam e f rom your IS P w hen you
sig ned u p for service. I f nec essary, you ma y n eed to c ontac t
your ISP to retrieve your username and password.
If you ha ve a s tatic IP ad dress , y ou may need to en ter
additional information also provided by your ISP.
If you r c omput er doesn ’t have a wire less ada pte r, o r the
set up soft war e is una ble to cont rol i t, you may be asked to
connect your computer to the Router with a network cable.

After th e i nitia l setup is compl ete, you hav e t he optio n to
change settings like your network name, security t ype, and
pas swo rd. To make t hese cha nges and othe rs, click on the
Advanc ed Tool s ico n a t t he CD Se tup menu an d sel ect o ne
of the following settings that you would like to change:
Network Name & Security – Persona lize your network n ame
(SSID), password, and strength of wireless security.
Internet Service Provider & Login Settings – H ave
you moved or changed Internet Service Providers?
If you ’d l ike to chan ge these sett ings witho ut ru nning
through the setup process again, this is the place.

The Belkin Router Manager appears in your system tray
(Windows) or menu ba r (Mac). Its icon indic ate s the cu rrent
sta tus of your Ro uter and al so al low s y ou to acces s your
Rou ter ’s set tings to make chang es. I t a lso prov ides qui ck
access to software that came bundled with your Router.
To access the Router settings, click on the icon
and select from the menu that appears.
The status of your Router is shown by the Belkin Router Manager
icon, which closely mimics the light on the front of the Router.
Green: You a re conne cted to you r B elkin Router
and it is connected to the Internet.
Amber: You are conne cted to your B elkin Ro uter,
but it is not connected to the Internet.

In you r b row ser, t ype “ ht tp: //router” ( you do not nee d t o t ype
in any thing el se su ch as “ww w” ). Then pre ss the Ente r key. If
you’re still having trouble runni ng the m anual se tup opti on, t ype
“192.168.2.1” in your br ows er (you do not need to type in anythi ng
else such as “http://” or “www”). Then press the Enter key.

Adding Computers to Your Network
Wir eless devices such as comp uters , n et wor k pri nte rs, a nd gamin g
systems can connect to your Router with a few simple steps.
Using the CD
1. Pu t the Se tup CD into your compu ter. If th e CD
doe sn’t ope n automa tical ly, browse to your CD
drive and open the Belkin Setup CD icon.
2. Click the Setup icon on the CD menu.
3. After a brief installation, the setup software will ask you for the
net work name and pass wor d f rom t he netwo rk in for matio n car d
tha t c ame w ith your Ro ute r. T his c ard is m ost likely now loca ted
underneath the foot of your Router in the provided card slot.

ins talle d. This may take a few minutes to compl ete. O nc e
fin ished , a “Suc ce ss” messag e w ill appe ar in dicat ing that yo u
are connected to the Internet via your new Belkin Router.
Note: Th e s etup sof tware runs on ly on
Windows and Mac OS X systems.

Manually
If you ch oo se not to use the incl uded Set up CD for
add ing addi tiona l com puter s o r w irele ss devices, you
can manually add these items to your network.
1. Lo cate the wireless- netwo rk- conne ctions opt ion
on your computer or wireless device.
2. Select you r B elkin Router fro m the li st of available net works . You
can identify your Bel kin Rout er by locat ing t he netwo rk na me
(SSID) from the card located underneath the foot of your Router.
3. Enter your ne twork passwor d ( located on
your network information card).
Your wireless device will take a few moments to connect to your
network. If the connection is not made the first time, try this
pro cess again. I f y ou still ha ve difficu lt y c onnecti ng to your net work
after tr ying this pro cess a f ew times, s ee the “ Trou blesh ooting”
section in this manual for help with connecting to your network.
Note: In some cases you may be prompted to select the
security type. It is printed on the card for your convenience.
Using the WPS Button
1. St ar t WPS Push Butto n Con necti on (W PS PBC) on your
com puter or ot her W i-Fi dev ic e t hat you would like t o c onnect
wir eless ly to your Rou ter. Ofte n the re will be a b ut ton for thi s
pur pose in soft war e that c ame with the dev ice, or a physical
“WPS,” “PBC,” or “Security” button on the device itself.
2. Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your Router.
The WP S light (small li ght a bove WPS butto n) will b link gre en while
it lis tens for yo ur Wi-Fi devi ce. Once a conne ct ion is e stabl ished, t he
lig ht will turn gre en and t hen go o ut. If a co nnectio n i s not es tabli shed,
the light will blink amber. You may repeat the process to try again.
You can repeat this process for each WPS-enabled
device you’d like to add to your network.
