Introduction

Congratu lations and tha nk you for purchasing th e Belkin USB Plus Hub. The Hub
provide s seven downstre am USB ports that of fer backward -compatible , Plug-and-Play
connec tivity with a ll USB devices, i ncluding USB 1.1 (or l ow- and full- speed) devi ces, as
well as w ith USB 2.0 (or high-speed ) devices. Thi s includes such peripherals as scanners,
printer s, mass-storag e devices, and high-resolution cameras. The Hub is sel f-powered,
which al lows you to casc ade devices with additional hu bs, so that up to 127 USB device s
may be connecte d to a single p ort.

The Hub lets you conne ct your peripherals throug h the back or to p ports. Re serve the
top por ts for flash drives and MP3 players while us ing the back po rts for stationar y
devices. The cable- management fe ature lets you easily remembe r which cables
correspond to each devi ce. The Hub also provides a status LED f or each indivi dual port
and a mas ter power LED.

Installation

Impor tant Note : Please do not connec t any USB devices to the Hub until instructed to

do so in step 4 of this installation procedure.

1. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet or surg e protector. Plug the DC connec tor into
the DC p ower jack found on the rear of the Hub.

2. Plug the flat end of the provided USB device cable into the downst ream port of your
computer, o r downstream port of another hub, th en plug the min i-USB connec tor on
the devi ce cable into th e upstream por t on the rear o f the Hub.

I mportant N ote: The H ub must be conn ected to a USB 2.0- compliant host in order

to func tion in high- speed mode ( 480Mbps data rate). If the Hub is connected to
a USB 1.1-complia nt host, it will operate only in low-speed or full-spe ed mode
(1.5Mbps/12Mbps ).

3. Win dows will now de tect your Hub and install th e required dri ver support. (The
Windows “Install New Hardware Wiza rd” may prompt you to provide yo ur Windows
Install ation CD to complete the driver install ation process. )

I mportant N ote: High -speed hub dr ivers are included wi th most USB 2.0 PCI

upgrad e cards, and are preins talled along with the PCI card drivers. If you purchased
an upgr ade card prior to the r elease of high -speed hub su pport, please check
with your PCI car d vendor for an updated USB 2.0 driver. The Belk in USB 2.0 driver
suppor ts all competitive cards based on th e NEC host controller w ith the exceptio n
of Adapte c.

4. Plug the USB A connec tor of the USB de vice, or an additional hub, into any of th e
downstream por ts of the Hub.

I mportant N ote: When moving a device from one por t on the Hub to another, it may

be necessary to reinstall th e USB drivers fo r that device.

Product Warranty.

Belkin will re pair or replace, at its option, any de fective prod uct free of charge ( except
for ship ping charges for the p roduct).

What is not covered by this warrant y?

All above warranties are null and void i f the Belkin p roduct is not provided to Be lkin
International, Inc., for insp ection upon Belkin’s request at the sole e xpense of the
purchase r, or if Belkin International, Inc., determ ines that the Belkin p roduct has be en
improperly installe d, altered in a ny way, or tampere d with. The Be lkin Product Warranty
does not protec t against ac ts of God (other than lightning) such as f lood, earth quake,
war, vanda lism, theft, normal-use wear and tear, erosion, dep letion, obso lescence,
abuse, d amage due to low voltage disturbances (i.e. brownouts or sags) , non-author ized
program, or system equipment modif ication or alteration.

prepare d to provide the follow ing informatio n:
a. The part number of the Belkin pr oduct.
b. Where you purchased the product.
c. When you purch ased the produ ct.
d. Copy of original receipt.

2. Your Belkin Customer Serv ice Representative wil l then instruc t you on how to

forward your r eceipt and Bel kin product and how to proce ed with your claim.

costs of shipping the B elkin produc t to Belkin I nternational, I nc., for insp ection shall
be bor ne solely by th e purchaser. If Belkin determines, in its sole discr etion, that it is
imprac tical to ship the damag ed equipment to Belkin Inter national, Inc ., Belkin may
designate, in it s sole discreti on, an equipm ent repair facility to inspe ct and estimate the
cost to re pair such equi pment. The cos t, if any, of shipp ing the equipment to and from
such rep air facility and of such estimate sha ll be borne so lely by the purchaser. Damaged
equipment must remain availab le for inspec tion until the claim is finalized. W henever
claims are settled, B elkin Internat ional, Inc., reserves the right to be subrogated under
any exis ting insurance p olicies the pu rchaser may have.

THIS WARR ANTY CONTAINS THE SOLE WARRANTY OF BELK IN INTERNATIONAL ,
INC., THERE ARE NO OT HER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR, EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY
LAW, IMPLIED, I NCLUDING THE IM PLIED WARRANTY OR CONDITION O F QUALITY,
MERCHANTABILITY O R FITNESS FOR A PART ICULAR PURPOSE, AND SUCH IMPLIED
