Introduction

With the Belkin F5U114-MAC Dual Serial Adapter you can connect up to two serial devices through your computer’s USB port. This device supports serial devices such as modems, digital cameras, graphic tablets, printers, Palm™ organizers and other handheld computers, and more. The Dual Serial Adapter supports up to two serial devices simultaneously to offer fast serial communication speed–up to 460Kpbs (depending on the device that you are using). If you need more USB ports, the modular design of this adapter allows you to stack it with other Belkin hubs, or use it inside of the Belkin BusStation. The Dual Serial Adapter also comes with the newest jewel-colored sleeves to match the color of your computer. This innovative USB Dual Serial Adapter from Belkin supports Apple®StyleWriter®, Apple LaserWriter®, Hewlett-Packard®(HP) DeskWriter®, serial HP DeskJet®, and printers which require external clocking. Software and Hardware Installation

Step 1: Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive.

Place the CD into your CD-ROM drive. When the CD icon named “Belkin F5U114-MAC” appears on your desktop, double-click on the icon to display its contents.

Step 2: Install the software.

2.1. Double-click on the icon named "Belkin USB Serial Installer".

2.2. On the Belkin USB Serial Adapter screen, click “Continue”.

2.3. Please read the next screen regarding the software license agreement. If you agree to the terms of the license agreement, click "Continue".

2.4. The screen that follows will now prompt you to commence installation. Click "Install".

2.5. A message will appear warning you to restart your computer after installation. Click "Continue".

Software and Hardware Installation

2.6. Click "Restart" to complete the installation. This will restart your computer.

Step 3: Connect the adapter to your USB port.

After restarting the computer, attach the Belkin USB Dual Serial Adapter for Macintosh to your computer by connecting the adapter and the USB device cable to any USB port on your computer. It is not necessary to turn off your Mac when attaching the Belkin USB Dual Serial Adapter.

After connecting the Belkin USB Dual Serial Adapter, connect a serial device to the adapter. The adapter is now ready for use.

Refer to the instructions provided with your serial device for driver installation and operation procedures.

Using the Adapter on a Belkin BusStation

The Belkin USB Dual Serial Adapter for Macintosh can be used as a module to the Belkin BusStation (Part# F5U100). To connect the adapter, simply remove the sleeve and slide the adapter into one of the BusStation bays as shown below.
