Transportation instructions

1. The appli ance sho uld be tr ans port ed only i n a n upright position. The packing as supplied must be intact duri ng tra nsport ation .
2. If during the transport the appliance, has been positioned horizontally, it must not be operated for at least 4 hours, to allow the system to settle.

Installation instructions

1. Do not kee p you r ap plia nce i n a roo m wher e the temperature is likely to fall below 10 degrees C (50 degrees F) at night and/or especially in winter, as it is desi gned t o opera te in am bient temperatures between +10 and +38 degrees C (50 and 100 degrees F). At lower temperatures the appliance may not operate, resulting in a reductio n in the s tor age l ife of t he food.
2. Do not place the appliance near cookers or radiators or i n di rec t su nlig ht, as t his w ill caus e extra strain on the appliance's functions. Guidelines for obtaining optimum storage and hygiene:
1. The fridge compartment is for the short-term storage of fresh food and drinks.
2. The freezer compartment is rated and suitable for the freezing and storage of pre-frozen food. The recommendation for storage as stated on the food packaging should be observed at all ti mes.
3. D airy prod ucts sh ould be s tor ed in the spec ial compartment provided in the door liner. In order to freeze fresh food it is recommended to pack the products in alumi niu m or plasti c shee t, cool them in the fresh food compartment and store them on the freezer compartment shelf. It is preferable that the shelf be fixed in the upper side of the freezer compartment.

5. Fresh wrapped produce can be kept on the shelf. Fre sh frui t and veg etabl es shoul d be cleaned and stored in the crispers.

11. Some fruit and vegetables suffer damage if kept at tem peratur es near 0°C. T herefor e wrap pineapples, melons, cucumbers, tomatoes and similar produce in polythene bags.
12. High-proof al cohol m ust be st ored upr ight in tightly cl os ed co ntai ners . Nev er st ore pr oduc ts that contai n an inf lamma ble prop ella nt gas (e.g . cream dis pens ers , spr ay c ans, etc .) or exp losi ve substances. These are an explosion hazard.

Temperature control and adjustment

Operating temperatures are c ontrolled by the thermostat knob and may be set at any position between 1 and 5 (the coldest pos ition). If the thermostat knob is in position "0" t he appliance is off.

Some sections o f the fridge may be cooler or warmer (such as sal ad crisper and top part of the cabinet) which i s quite normal. Before operating

Before you start using the appliance check that:
1. The feet have been adjusted for perfect lev elling.

3. The interior is clean as recommended under "Cleaning and car e.”
4. The plug has been inserted into the wall socket and the electricity is switched on. When the door is open the i nterior ligh t will co me on.

5. You will hear a noise as the compressor starts up. The liquid and gases sealed within the refrigeration system may also make some (noise), whether the compress or is runni ng or not . This is q uite norm al.
6. Slight undulation of the top of the cabinet is quite normal due to the manufacturing process used; it is not a defect.

8. Do not load the appliance immediately it is switched on. Wait until the correct storage temperature has been reached. We recommend checking the temperature with an accurate thermometer (see; Temperature Control and Adjustment).

Storing frozen food

Your freezer is suita ble for the long-term storage of commercially frozen foods and also can be used to freeze and store fres h food. If there is a power failur e, do not open the door. Frozen food should not be affected if th e failure lasts for less than 1 6 hrs. If the failure is longer, then the food shoul d be checked and either eaten i mmediately or c ooked and then r e-frozen.

Defrosting

A) Fridge compartment

The fridge compartment defrosts automatically. The defrost water runs to the drain tube via a collection container at the back of the appliance (Item 5). During defrosting, water droplets may form at the back of the fridge compartment where a concealed
the liner and refreeze when defrosting is completed. Do not use pointed or sharp-edged objects such as knives or forks to remove the droplets which have refrozen. If, at any time, the defrost water does not drain from the collection channel, check that no food
can be cleared with a pipe-cleaner or similar implement. Check that the tube is permanently placed wit h its end in the coll ecting tr ay on the compress or to prev ent the wa ter spill ing on the electric installa tion or on the floor (Item 6).

B) Freezer compartment

Defrosting is very straightforward and w ithout mess , thanks to a speci al defrost col lection basi n. Defrost twice a year or when a frost lay er of around 7 (1/4") mm has formed. To start the de frosting proced ure, switch off the ap pliance at the s ocket outlet and pull out the mains plug . All food sho uld be wrapped in several layer s of newspaper and s tored in a c ool place (e.g. fridg e or larder) . Containers o f warm water may be plac ed carefully in the freez er to speed up the de frosting. Do not use pointed or sharp-edged objects, such as knives or forks to remove the frost. Never use hai rdryers, elec trical heaters or other s uch electr ical appliances for

Replacing the interior light bulb

Cleaning and care

1. We recommend that you switch off the appliance at the socket outlet and pull out the mains plug b efore c leaning.
2. Nev er use a ny shar p instru ments or abras ive substances, soap, household cleaner, detergent or wax polish for cleaning.
3. U se l uke w arm wat er t o cl ean t he c abi net of the appliance and wipe it dry.
4. Use a damp cloth wrung out in a solution of one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to one pint of water to cl ean the int erior an d wip e it dry .
5. Make sure that no water enters the temperature control box.
6. If the appliance is not going to be used for a long perio d of tim e, switc h it off, remov e all food, clean it and leave the door ajar.

Troubleshooting

If the appliance does not operate when switched on, check:
• That the plug is that the power sup ply is on. (T o check the pow er supply to the soc ket, plug i n another appli ance).
• Whether the fuse has blown/circ uit breaker has tripped/main distribution s witch has been turned off.
• That the temperature contr ol has been set correctly .
• That the new plug is wired correctly, if you have changed the fitted, moulded plug.
If the appliance is still not operating at all after above checks, contact the dealer from whom you purchased the unit. Please ensure that above checks have been done, as a charge will be made if no fault is found.
