INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTION
Attention: Read through the complete manual prior to the initial use of your Heater.
Using the Operator’s manual
The operating manual is an important part of your Heater and should  be read thoroughly before initial use, and referred to often to make sure  adequate safety and service concerns are being addressed.
Reading the owner’s manual thoroughly will help avoid any personal injury  or damage to your pump. By knowing how best to operate this machine  you will be better positioned to show others who may also operate the  unit.
You can refer back to the manual at any time to help troubleshoot any  specific operating functions, so store it with the machine at all times.

PROPANE INFORMATION
You must provide the propane gas and cylinder(s). Use this heater only  with a propane vapor withdrawal supply system. Refer to Chapter 5 of  the Standard for Storage and Handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas ,  ANSI/NFPA 58. Your local library or fire department will have this booklet.
LP Characteristics:
•
Flammable, explosive under pressure, heavier than air, and pools in low  areas.
•
In its natural state, propane has no odor, but for your safety an odorant  that smells like rotten cabbage has been added.
•
Contact of propane (LP) gas with the skin can cause freeze burns.
•
Heater is manufactured for use with LP gas only. DO NOT attempt to  convert to any other gas. Such modifications are dangerous, and will  void warranty.
•
When heater is not in use, LP cylinder must be turned OFF
•
Be sure that the LP cylinder is located on a level and stable surface.
•
Do not use this heater in a basement or below ground level.
Propane (LP) is heavier than air, and will always seek the lowest level. If  you suspect a leak, shut off the valve at the LP cylinder immediately.
The amount of LPG used with this heater varies. Both factors are:
1. The amount of gas in the cylinder of LPG.
2. The temperature of the LP tank and its surroundings.

REFILLING THE PROPANE GAS TANK
1.  Turn heater gas valve knob and gas tank valve to OFF position.
2.  Propane tank valve equipped with old style fitting has LEFT-HANDED
THREADS. Turn fitting CLOCKWISE to loosen. Protect this fitting  when disconnected from tank.
3.  Have tank filled by your local Propane gas supplier.
4.  Some propane tanks have a bleed-off valve. This valve should
be inspected for leaks after each filling of the tank. Turn the valve  clockwise to close.
5.  Fasten full Propane tank and connect proper fitting to tank valve by
turning COUNTERCLOCKWISE.
6.  With heater gas valve knob still in OFF position, turn ON tank valve
and check for leaks with soap solution.
WARNING
• Purging and filling of LP tanks must be performed by personnel  who have been thoroughly trained in accepted LP gas industry  procedures. Failure to follow these instructions may result in  explosion, fire, sever personal injury or death.
13
OPERATION
WARNING
• Propane is safe to use when properly handled. Careless handling  of the propane gas tank could result in a fire and/or an explosion.  Therefore:
-Always keep tank/cylinder securely fastened and in an upright
position.
-Avoid tipping the tank on its side when connected to a regulator,
since this may cause damage to the diaphragm in the regulator.
-Handle valves with care.
-Never connect an unregulated propane tank to a construction heater.
-Do not subject propane tank to excessive heat.
-Tightly close the gas shutoff valve on the propane tank after each
use.
-All fittings must be protected when disconnected from the LP tank.
-Never store a propane gas tank inside a building or in the vicinity of
any gas burning appliance.
The disconnected tank must never be stored in a building, garage or any  other enclosed area.
LEAK CHECKING
1.  Check all connections with a 50/50 soap and water solution to be  sure they are tight and leak proof.
2.  The installation of your heater must meet all local codes and/or  gas utility requirements, or in the absence of local codes, with the  National Fuel Code ANSI Z223.1.
3.  The minimum clearances to combustible construction materials  shown on page 3 must be maintained at all times.
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
1.  Connect power cord to a properly grounded three (3) prong  120V.60Hz, extension cord. Extension Cord Wire Requirements:       6 to 10 feet (1.8 to 3 meters) long, use 18AWG conductor.  11 to  100 feet (3.4 to 30.53 meters ) long, use 16AWG conductor.  101  to 200 feet (30.8 to 61 meters) long, use 14 AWG conductor.
2.  Connect heater to a proper LP cylinder.
3.  Turn gas valve clockwise to OFF position.
4.  Wait five (5) minutes for any gas to clear. Smell for gas; if you do not  smell gas, go to step 4.
5.  Push in and turn gas control knob counterclockwise to LOW/IGN  position. This will light the burner. If needed, keep pressing control  knob until the burner lights and keep pressing and turning from OFF  to LOW/IGN on electric spark.
