S1 Rolling Ov erhead Garage Door
nlike other garage door styles, a B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd Roll-a-door™ garage door needs minimal space in from the wall opening. This means the garage isn’t cluttered with power arms or brackets, and the ceiling space is free for other purposes. Because the door operates vertically, you can safely
park a vehicle in front of the door without the risk of any outswing damage.
Rolling doors were first invented by B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd, and the current B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd Roll-a-door™ models are the result of more than 40 years of development. They’re easy to operate; they’re safe, secure, and durable.

S1 Size Range
All Series 1 Domestic Roller Doors (Colorsteel® and Zincalume®) are made to order based on the sizes given with the exception of the stock standard 2.2H x 2.4W Zincalume® roller door.
Note
All sizes referred to are Daylight Opening Sizes “DLO”. (Finished Trim Sizes) These measurements are the industry standard, and should be the only ones used, as the door is automatically manufactured 40mm wider to overlap the opening.
S1 Styles
All B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd S1 Domestic roller doors are produced with a pressed rib profile from 0.4 BMT G2z steel as shown in FIGURE - 1.
15mm
FIGURE - 1.
S1 Heights
There are 4 standard DLO heights available, 2.200H, 2.500H, 3.000H & 3.200H. The doors and guides supplied are suitable for installing in openings up to and including these heights. If the opening size is less than any of those above, the guides will require cutting, and excess door curtain will stay on the roll when the door is closed. Pricing is based on these three heights.
Note
The drive through height when the door is open is 70mm less than the trim height.

S1 Widths
There are no standard widths. Series 1 Domestic Roller Doors are manufactured in 1mm increments starting at 0.850M through to 3.200M DLO. Series 1 Domestic Roller Doors are manufactured 50mm wider than the given DLO Width. This is to allow the door to run in the guides attached to the inside face of the opening. (See Headroom & Sideroom Requirements Diagram) Pricing starts at the width of
2.400W and is based on 300mm increments up to 3.200W. Doors under 1.350W attract an extra charge due to the increased labour required to manufacture.
S1 Colour Range
B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd Series 1 Domestic Roller Doors are made from either Zincalume®, or Colorsteel® G2z. Both are manufactured by BHP New Zealand Steel Limited, and are commonly used in the roofing and cladding of both residential and commercial buildings. Zincalume® and Colorsteel® G2z have a far superior corrosion resistance than the galvanised based products they have superseded. (See latest edition of the BHP New Zealand Steel Zincalume® Guide.) You can be assured of a quality product.
B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd carries stocks of 16 of the most commonly used Colorsteel® colours. These are as listed below;

Common Installation F aults
We recommend you closely follow the Installation Instructions which are included with every door. However, assuming you already know the basics, please consider the following points which are the most common cause of faults.
1. Mark out and correctly position mounting brackets, (refer to attached
drawing).
2. The mounting brackets must be level.
Any more than a couple of millimetres out will cause coning or a
crooked curtain.
Use a straight edge and level, or a water level to achieve optimum
results.
3. Mark each side of the curtain overlap on the stud so you can centralise
the door in the opening before you apply tension to the door.
4. Centralise the axle before lifting the door up onto the brackets.
Give the axle a turn with your hand and then release. You may find
the axle re-positions itself 5-10mm.
5. Lift the door up on the brackets. Ensure you use the reinforcing plates
and saddle provided. Finger tighten the ‘U’ bolts and nuts.
6. Re-centralise axle by rocking the door and ensure the curtain edges are in
line with the 25mm curtain overlap lines you have marked on the studs. (As described in 3. above.)
If they don’t line up, loosen off the ‘U’ bolts and move the axle
across in the direction that will ensure correct alignment.
FIGURE - 1.
Page 15
ROLLING OVERHEAD GARAGE DOOR
11
Caution
Do not push door curtain only across without moving the axle – this will induce coning.
Tighten ‘U’ bolts and rotate door again to check correct alignment.
7. Ensure the guides are cut to the correct height. Invert each guide and
with the top of the guide sitting on the floor, mark the cut-off point in line with the top of the mounting brackets.
It is important that the back extension of the guide is flush with the
line of the top of the mounting bracket. This will ensure that the curved feed in area of the guide allows the door to travel smoothly down the guide.
FIGURE - 2.
Remember
As the door is closing the roll diameter gets smaller and if the feed area is not correct this will cause the door to bind on the lead in and affect the smooth operation. If the door is motorised this will cause constant
malfunction of the reversing sensitivities.
8. Keep the door curtain away from the lintel. Ensure the axle is positioned
evenly on the bracket at both ends, with the same measurement between the wall and axle. Ideally, the axle should sit between the last two holes on the top mounting bracket.
If the lintel bows slightly inwards, you may be able to pack the top
guide lugs to ensure the curtain does not rub on the lintel.
Page 16
ROLLING OVERHEAD GARAGE DOOR
12
9. Do not un-roll the curtain any more than necessary to get the top of the
first guide positioned.
The guide must be placed in a true vertical position regardless of door
post/stud position to which it is fixed. The lugs should be evenly spaced along the guide for security reasons.
Only now should the curtain be un-rolled further to help position the
second guide. Ensure there is the correct clearance between the roller and guides.
10. If on completion, the door looks like the picture below, 1 or more of the
previous 9 steps have not been followed correctly.
FIGURE - 3.
This situation is called coning.
Check brackets are level and adjust if necessary.
Re-centralise axle.
With the door rolled up and a firm hold on the axle with a pipe wrench, loosen the ‘U’ bolts at both ends and move the axle sideways 10mm at a time in the appropriate direction (see diagram above). Move the axle the distance of ‘X’ in total, retighten the ‘U’ bolts an check door operation.
11. Final Adjustments
a. If the door is hard to operate in both directions, check that the door is
not jamming in the guides.
Check
Guide clearances. Guides are plumb. Guide surfaces are clean and free from oil, dents, etc.
Page 17
ROLLING OVERHEAD GARAGE DOOR
13
b. If the door is hard to operate in one direction, the spring tension
needs adjustment.
If the door is hard to lift but tends to drop when let go, then
increase the spring tension.
If the door is hard to close, but tends to rise when let go, then
decrease the spring tension.
c. If the door is stiff to work or rattles over the lead in at the top of the
guides.
Check that the guides are not to long. Loosen on ‘U’ bolt and push that side of the door towards the
opening as far as possible without the door curtain scraping the lintel. Tighten the ‘U’ bolt and repeat the procedure with the other side, ensuring that the axle is still parallel with the opening.

S3 Size Range
All Series 3 Semi-Industrial Roller Doors (Colorsteel® and Zincalume®) are made to order based on the sizes given. B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd do not manufacture stock doors.
Note
All sizes referred to are Daylight Opening Sizes “DLO”. (Finished Trim Sizes) These measurements are the industry standard, and should be the only ones used, as the door is automatically manufactured 40mm wider to overlap the opening.
S3 Styles
All B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd S3 Seni-Industrial roller doors are produced with a pressed rib profile from 0.4 BMT G2z steel as shown in FIGURE - 1.
20mm
FIGURE - 1.
S3 Heights
There are 2 standard DLO heights available, 2.400H & 3.300H. The doors and guides supplied are suitable for installing in openings up to and including these heights. If the opening size is less than any of those above, the guides will require cutting, and excess door curtain will stay on the roll when the door is closed. Pricing is based on these seven heights.
Note
The drive through height when the door is open is 50mm less than the trim height.

S3 Widths
There are no standard widths. Series 3 Semi-Insustrial Roller Doors are manufactured in 1mm increments starting at 1.300M through to 4.800M DLO. Series 3 Semi-Industrial Roller Doors are manufactured 100mm wider than the given DLO Width. This is to allow the door to run in the guides attached to the inside face of the opening. (See Headroom & Sideroom Requirements Diagram) Pricing starts at the width of 2.400W and is based on set increments up to 4.800W. (2.4, 2.8, 3.0, 3.2, 3.6,
3.8, 4.0, 4.4 & 4.8.) Doors under 2.000W attract an extra charge due to the increased labour required to manufacture.
S3 Colour Range
B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd Series 3 Semi-Industrial Roller Doors are made from either Zincalume®, or Colorsteel® G2z.
B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd carries stocks of 16 of the most commonly used Colorsteel® colours. These are as listed below;
NEW DENIM BLUE TITANIA PIONEER RED DESERT SAND SANDSTONE GREY IRONSAND SCORIA MIST GREEN PERMANENT GREEN KARAKA GREY FRIARS RIVERGUM SMOOTH CREAM LIGNITE PITCH BLACK CALICO LICHEN

EASYLIFTER Fea tures & Benefits
Compact Design – Allows the opener to be installed into a minimum of
150mm side room on a B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd Roll-A-Door®
Powerful D.C. Motor – provides a quiet operation with powerful torque.
External, Independent Up and Down Force Adjustments – To assure
safety of operation, the door automatically reverses when it encounters an obstruction while closing and stops when encountering an obstruction when opening.
Courtesy Light – controlled by the logic board, the light turns on when the
opener is activated and turns off automatically after 4 ½ minutes.
SmartTM Receiver and Billion Code Technology – The “Smart” receiver
has 14 registers of non-volatile memory (meaning they will not loose the transmitter codes during power outages). It can learn up to 12 different billion codes, one dip switch code and one Wireless/Keyless Entry System. The 3 channel remote control transmitter supplied has its own unique computerised codes which cannot be duplicated. Each channel on the transmitter is randomly programmed to one of 3.486 billion codes. To offer total security, should a transmitter be lost or stolen depressing the green “Smart” code button on the rear of the opener power head for 6 seconds can erase all the codes the opener has learnt.
Manual Override – Emergency release cord for manual operation of the
door in the event of a power failure.
Automatic Locking – The Easylifter RDO automatically locks the door
when closed.
3 Year Warranty – Comprehensive 3 Year Warranty when professionally
installed by a recognised B&D Doors (NZ) Ltd agent. Covers all components in the power head (ie. Motor, wiring, gears, printed circuit board etc). Excludes light bulb, transmitter, battery in transmitter and accessories.
Facility for Installation of the Safety Reversing Sensor Protection
System – infra-red sensor mounted to each side of the opening for added
safety.
