Chapter 2 Hardware Installation Process
Installing the Central Process Unit (CPU)
CPU Installation
1. Unlock the CPU socket by pulling the lever up to a 90- degr ee angle.
2. Position t he CP U above the socket such that the
base of the lever.
3. Place the CPU into the socket. If the CPU is unable to insert properly , check it s orientation and
attempt to re-install.

4. Close the socket by l oweri ng the lever and locking the lever i n place.

Installing Memory M odules
1. Push the white retai ning cli ps on each of the m emory socket out wards.
2. Match the notc hes on the c ontact edge of the mem or y module to the ridges in the memory socket.
3. Insert the m emory m odule v er tically into place. When properl y inserted, the whit e r etaining clips will
move inward to loc k in the module.
4. Repeat installation proc ess when adding addit ional m odules.

Installing Expansion Cards
1. Read the related ex pansi on c ar d’s i nstallation instructions before i nsert ing the expansi on c ar d into the
motherboard.
2. Remove the slot covers from the chassis case where the expansion car ds will be placed.
3. Press the expansion card f irmly into t he expansion slot of the m otherboard.
4. Secure the card with the screw provided.
5. Repeat same procedure when adding addit ional ex pansi on c ar ds.
