Please read carefully before hanging your wallpaper
What you will need:
Wallpaper adhesive for non-woven wallpaper, ladder, bucket, scraper, spirit level/chalk line, sponge, mild detergent,
dry soft cotton cloth, utility knife, tape measure, scissors, plumb bob, soft large paint brush/paint roller. Make sure the
wallpaper tools are clean before construction.
Important
Notice:
Ensure that batch/lot numbers are identical and that the serial numbers are matched as close as
possible. If batch numbers are not the same, there will be a colour variation across the rolls.*
Before you hang your wallpaper
• 24 hours before hanging wallpaper, roll it out and lay it flat in order to reduce the coil
spring back.
• Check the wallpaper for any damages or flaws before installation. We will not be able to
help after installation.
Step 1 | Wall preparation suggestion
Wallpaper needs to be hung on a well prepared, flat, smooth, clean, dry,
porous-free, moisture-resistant, primed and damp-proof surface/wall.
Wallpaper cannot be applied to newly plastered, unprimed walls.
Step 2 | Measuring
Measure the length of the wallpaper according to the height of the wall and cut. Allow an
extra 2 inches at the top and the bottom. Ensure pattern is the right way up. Before cutting
the next length ensure that the pattern matches up with the first cut piece. Mark each piece
with a ‘T’ at the top to avoid confusion.
Step 3 | Applying the adhesive
Use a high quality adhesive for non-woven wallpaper. Brush
the adhesive lightly, evenly coating the back of the paper
or simply paste the wall. Ensure the edges of the paper are
covered with adhesive. Work from the centre out. Wipe away
any paste on the front of the paper with a wet rag.
Step 4 | Hanging your wallpaper
Start hanging the wallpaper at the window or door. Slide the paper
into position and then working the paper onto the wall from the top
centre to the outside. Hang the paper on the marked horizontal lines
and then press on with a clean dry roller and/or soft dry cotton cloth,
applying pressure to adhesive bubbles or air bubbles moving them to the edge and out from under the paper.
Inspect while sticking, to ensure pattern alignment, no lumps bumps or cracks. Wipe away excess paste from
joints with a wet soft rag. Add adhesive to joints where necessary. Be careful not to stretch the wallpaper.
Step 5 | Trimming & cleaning up
Cut excess wallpaper from ceiling, floor, around the windows and doors
using a utility knife. Clean with a soft moist mild detergent cotton cloth.
During drying ensure that the room is well ventilated. Avoid drafts!
Important note*: Beware of damp issues. Applying too much adhesive and not allowing enough drying
time before application may cause discolouration i.e. ink patches. Drying time between applying the adhesive
to the wallpaper, and applying the wallpaper to the wall may differ according to the temperature, the time
of year and the amount of adhesive applied. AVOID HEAVY AMOUNTS OF ADHESIVE. Apply evenly ensuring
that it has a tacky feel before applying your wallpaper to the wall. It is very important to note that all excess
moisture will be absorbed by the wallpaper causing ink patches to appear as the wallpaper dries. Damp walls
will cause the same discolourations to occur.
