Bay Audio Cube Brochure

The Cube
Full-range theater L/C/R.
Product Description
The Cube is a small, full-range theater
speaker. Able to reproduce bass into the
subwoofer region, the Cube delivers high
impact in small to mid-sized theaters. We
build the cabinet with 3⁄4" MDF walls, and
fully brace the interior for superior midrange
and bass performance. Vocals are smooth,
never harsh. And bass performance will
impress you with its depth and clarity.
2-Channel Systems
Cubes are perfect for use as near-field moni-
tors. Set on stands, or on a bookshelf, they
fill a 3000 ft3room with concert level sound.
Theater Systems
Configure a theater with three Cubes across
the front, two in the rear, and a Bay Audio
subwoofer. Running the Cubes full range
delivers six sources of bass for unmatched
impact and performance. Cubes are effi-
cient, and power handling exceeds 150w per
channel, making them perfect for use with
AV Receivers.
Product Features
• Boundary control reduces midbass
“bloat” caused by bookshelf or wall
placement.
• Internal and external bracing greatly
reduces distortion in the midrange and

By methodically measuring the effects of room
size, building materials, furnishings, and
speaker placement on music reproduction, we
create products that sound great in any room
of your home. We’re pioneers in this field —
the first, and we believe, only company to
focus entirely on designing speakers mindful
of the interaction of placement on room
acoustics.
Only Bay Audio has on–board filters to opti-
mize the speaker for its intended placement:
Boundary
Sound waves are tricky. They like to bounce
around objects they come in contact with.
Take a typical bookshelf speaker and place it
Crossover Networks
We build the Cube crossover with high quality electrical components. We use a glass PCB board and low distortion capacitors. For increased transient response and clarity, we use audiophile-grade 500v bypass capacitors in both the tweeter and bass unit circuit and 14 ga. internal cable for all wiring.
Terminal Plate
Our aluminum terminal plate has gold-plated binding posts which accept bare wire, spades, and pins.
Cabinetry
We construct our cabinets from
3
⁄4" MDF, and finish them with either a black ash or white vinyl veneer. The top and bottom plates are machined from
1
⁄4" brushed and hard anodized aluminum. The plates brace the cabinet and virtually eliminate cabinet resonances.
Drivers
The Cube uses custom-built drivers, including a 1" soft-dome neodymium tweeter and an impressive 6
1
⁄2" bass unit tuned
for maximum bass output.
Grilles
Our custom formed grilles float in front of the cabinet to eliminate defraction. Grilles are permanently attached to the cabinet to eliminate vibrations.
On-Board Tuning
Boundary tuning helps overcome common room acoustic problems.
on stands. Sounds good. Now put it in a wall
unit or bookshelf and its sound changes. Most
likely, vocal clarity degrades, and bass
becomes muddy. The Cube has a Boundary
control to “normalize” its placement, whether
it’s freestanding, on a shelf, in an AV cabinet,
or placed on stands.
