Work area safety
− Keep work area clean and well lit . Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
− Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres , such as in the presence of flammable liquids,
gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
− Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
•
Electrical safety
− Power tool plugs must m atch the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs
with earthed (grounded) power tools. U nm odifie d plugs and matching outlet s will reduce risk of elec tric
shock.
− Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
− Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of
elect ri c shock.
− Do not abuse the cord. N ever use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging t he power tool. K eep cord
away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. D amaged or entangled cords increase the risk of
elect ri c shock.
− When operating a power t ool outdoor s, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord
suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
− If operating a power t ool in a damp location is unavoid able, use a residual c urrent device (RCD)
protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock. NOTE: The term “resid ual c urr ent
device (RCD)” may be replaced by the term “ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)” or “eart h leakage
circ uit br eaker (ELCB)”.
•
Personal safet y
− Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a
power tool while you are tired or under the influe nce of drugs, alcohol or m edication. A moment of
inattention whil e oper ating power tools may result in serious personal i njury.

Before attempting to charge the battery
pack, thoroughly read all Safety Instructions.
The battery needs to be charged before first use
and whenever it fails to produce sufficient p ower
on jobs that were easily done before. The
battery may become warm while charging; this
is normal and does not indicat e a problem.
NOTE: After several charge and discharge
cycles, the battery will attain full capacity.
WARNING! DO NOT CHARGE THE BATTERY
AT AMBIENT TEPERATURES BELOW 4ºC OR ABOVE 40ºC
1. Plug charger c ord into c harger base.
IMPORTANT: Do not use any other charger, only use the charger that com es w ith the product.
(BELOW 40ºF OR ABOVE 104ºF).
2. Plug the charger into an electrical outlet. The charge LED will light up green.
IMPORTANT: Do not charge via an engine gener ator or DC power sourc e.
3. Slide the charger into the battery pack. The charge LED will light up red indicating that the battery is
charging. NOTE: It may take 2 – 5 mins to turn red.
4. When the LED turns green again, it indicates that t he battery is fully-charged. After the initial charge, under
normal usage, your battery pack should be fully charged in 4 hours.
5. Unplug charger. Remove the batter y fr om the cha rger.
Important Charging Information
•
After normal usage, your battery pack shoul d be fully charged in about 4 hours. Allow the battery to cool
down before charging after using the saw. (NOTE: A hot battery placed in the charger will not charge).
•
The battery norm ally provides 15 minutes continuous run time depending on size of branches bei ng cut. This
equates to approx. 30 x 6cm cuts. Time may vary depending on hardness and diameter of timber.
•
Battery may drain slowly if connected to the unit w hen in storage. A lways disconnect between uses.
•
When battery has expired, chainsaw will immediately cease operating and will require a full charge.
•
If storing your chainsaw for a period of more than 30 days, fully charge your battery beforehand. Once
charged, remove from charger and do not reinsert into saw.
•
DO NOT charge the battery pack in an air temperature below 4°C or above 40°C. This is im portant and will
prevent ser ious damage to the battery pack.
•
While charging, the charger may hum and become warm to touch. This is a normal condition and does not
indicate a problem.
•
To prolong battery life, avoid leaving the battery pack on charger for extended periods of time (over 30 days
without us e). Although overcharging is no t a safety concern, it ca n signif icantly reduce overall battery life.
•
The battery pack will reach optimum performance after being cycled 5 times during normal usage. There is
no need to run the batteries down completely before recharging. Normal usage is the best method of
discharging and recharging the batteries.

Cutting edges on chain are sharp. Use protective gloves when handling chain.
•
When cleaning the saw body:
− Do not submerge saw in any liq uids.
− Do not use products that contain ammonia, chlori ne, or abrasives.
− Do not use chlorinated cleaning solvents, carbon tetrachloride, kerosene, or gasoline.
NOTE: The saw cha in tension is properly s et a t the factory. A new cha in will stretch. Check new chain tension
fr equently (a fter d isconnect ing bat tery) during the f irst 2 hours of operation. Allow chain to cool down. Fol low
steps below to check saw chain tension.
1. Remove battery from chain sa w .
2. Place chain saw on a firm surface to check chain tension.
3. Pull chain with lig ht f orce 1/8" away from bottom of guide bar and release (see image below). If chain light ly
snaps back into place, t ension is correct. A slight sag (1/16" or less) between chain and bottom of guide bar
is acceptable.
Saw Chain Tension Adjustment
1. Loosen the guide bar screw before adjusting the chain (see image below).
8
Cordless Pole Chainsaw
2. Turn the adj usting screw on the front of the power head clockwise until slack has been removed from the
chain (see image below).
3. While weari ng protective gloves, pull down on the chain to check the chain tension.
4. Do not overdo the chain’s tensio n. Over-tensioning will cause excessive wear and will red uce the life of the
guide bar and chain. Over-tensioning also reduces the amount of cuts per battery charge.
5. After adjusting for the correct chain tens ion, t ighten the guide bar screw firm ly (see image below).

Always wear ear prot ection. Loud noises
for an extended period of t ime may
damage your hearing.
Total face and head protection must be
worn to reduce injury fr om falling
branches.
We ar no-slip heavy duty work gloves to
impro ve your grip on the saw handle.
Gloves also reduce the transmission of
machine vibration to your hands.
The dust produced during operation may
be dangerous to health. I f the work area
is very dusty or sm oky, wear a respirator.
1. Fill up the pole saw's bar oil tank with high-quality bar oil.
2. Attach the battery to the saw.

Cordless Pole Chainsaw
Maintenance
Cleaning the Saw Body
Keep the saw body clean. Use a soft cloth dampened with a mixture of mild soap and water, then wipe saw body
clean.
Guide Bar Maintenance
Uneven bar wear causes m ost guide bar problems. Incorrect sharpening of chain cutter and depth gauge
settings often cause this. When bar wears unevenl y, it w idens the guide bar groove (see im age below). This
causes chain clatter and rivet popping. Saw will not cut straight. Replace guide bar if thi s occurs.
Inspect the guide bar first before sharpening the chain. A worn or damaged guide bar is unsafe. A worn or
damaged guide bar will dam age the chain. It will also make cutting harder.
1. Remove the guide bar from the chainsaw.
2. Periodically remove any sawdust from the guide bar gr oove. Use a putty knife or wire (see image below).
3. Clean oil slots e a ch time after use.
4. Remove the burrs fro m the sides of the guide bar. Use a flat file to make the side edges square.
5. Replace the guide bar when:
− The bar is bent or cracked.
− The inside groove of the bar is badly worn down.
11
Cordless Pole Chainsaw
Sharpening the Saw Chain
Keep the chain sharp at all times. Your saw will cut f aster and more safely. A dull chain will cause undue wear
on the sprocket, guide bar, chain, and motor. If you force the chain into the wood and cutting creates only
sawdust with a f ew large chips, the chain is dull.
Items Needed to Shar pen the Chain
Purchase these item s from your local dealer , hardware store, or pole saw supp lies outlet.
•
5/32" round file
•
Depth gauge tool
•
File guide
•
Vise
•
Medium sized flat file
Sharpening Cutters
Use a file guide for 30° filing.
1. Adjust the chain for proper tension.
2. Clamp down the guide bar in a vise to hold the saw steady (NOTE: Do not clamp down the chain).
3. Press the 5/32" round file (attached to file guide) into the groove between the top plate and depth gauge on
the chain. The file guide sho uld rest on both top plate and depth gauge (see image below).
NOTE: File should be at midpoint of guide bar.
NOTE: This il lus tration shows the file guide placement and filing direction for sharpening the cutters on the
left side of the chain.
4. Hold the file guide level. Make sure that the 30° mark on the file guide is parallel to the centre of the guide
bar (see image below). This will ensure that you file the cutters at a 30° angle.
5. Fil e from the inside, then m ake your w ay towards the outside of the cutter unt il it is sharp. Only file in this
one direction (see image below).
NOTE: Two or three strokes with the file should sufficiently sharpen the cutter.
12
Cordless Pole Chainsaw
Filing Cutter Depth Gauges
The cutter depth gauge clearance is reduced as cutters are sharpened. After every second or third sharpening,
reset the cutter depth gauges.
1. Place the depth gauge tool (.025") firmly across the top of the two cutter s. Make sure that the depth gauge
enters the slot in the depth gauge tool (see image below).
2. Use a medium flat file . File the depth gauge level with a depth gauge tool.
3. Remove the depth gauge tool. With a flat file, round off the front corner of the cutter depth gauge (see image
below).
.
After several hand fi li ng s, have an authorised service or sharpening centre machine-sharpen the c hai n. This will
ensure an ev en filing.
13
Cordless Pole Chainsaw
Replacing the Saw Chain
IMPORTANT: Do not clamp down the chainsaw i n a vise to replace the saw chain or guide bar.
Replace the chain w hen the cutter s are too worn out to sharpen or when the chain breaks . Only use a c hai n that
is approved by the manufacturer. Always inc lude a new drive sprocket when replacing the chain. This will
maintain proper driving of t he chain.
Refer to the imag e above while completing the following st eps:
1. Loosen and remove the guide bar screw.
2. Remove the sprocket cover.
3. Remove the s aw chain.
4. Place the new chain around t he drive sprocket, which is along the top groove of the guide bar, and around
the guide bar nose. NOTE: Make sure that the cutting edges of the chain are facing in the right dir e ction.
Position the chain so that the cutting edges on top of the guide bar face the guide bar nose (see image
below and the indicator on the side the cover of the saw).
14
Cordless Pole Chainsaw
5. Before placing the sprocket cover into the positioning groove, verif y that t he adjusting nib is in the adj usting
hole on the guide bar.
6. Place the sprock et cover into the positioning groove.
7. Lock the sprock et cover with a guide bar screw. IMPORTANT: Tighten with fingers only.
8. Adjust the chain tensio n.
9. Secure ly tighten the guide bar scr ew with a Hexagon wrench.
CAUTION! Do not place the chain on the saw backwards. If the chain is backwards, the saw will vibrate
badly and will not cut.
Storage
If the saw is being stored for more than 30 days, follow the steps below:
1. Remove the battery from the chain saw.
2. Charge the battery fully.
NOTE: It could take up to 7 hours to c om pletely charge the battery.
