vielen Dank für Ihr Vertrauen in ein Bauerfeind­Produkt. Mit der CaligaLoc haben Sie ein Produkt
erworben, welches einem hohen medizinischen und
qualitativen Standard entspricht.

Lesen Sie die Gebrauchsanweisung vollständig und
sorgfältig durch, denn sie enthält wichtige Informa

­tionen zu Anwendung, Indikationen, Gegenanzeigen,
Anlegen, Pflege und Entsorgung der CaligaLoc. Heben
Sie diese Gebrauchsanweisung auf, vielleicht möch

­ten Sie diese später noch einmal lesen. Wenden Sie
sich bei auftretenden Fragen an Ihren behandelnden
Arzt oder Ihr Fach geschäft.

Zweckbestimmung

Die CaligaLoc ist eine körpergerecht geformte
Orthese

für das Sprunggelenk. Durch die CaligaLoc

wird ein seitliches Umknicken nach außen verhin

­dert und die Stabilisierung des oberen und unteren
Sprunggelenks wirkungsvoll unterstützt. Die Anhe

­bung der Fußaußenseite entlastet zudem die Außen­bänder. Die CaligaLoc kann durch die verstellbaren
Klettgurte individuell angepasst werden. Die Orthese
können Sie in bequemen Straßen- und Sportschuhen
sowie ohne Schuhe in der Nacht tragen.

Indikationen

• nichtoperative Behandlung nach Knöchelbänderriss

oder nach schwerer Sprunggelenksverstauchung
(Distorsion)

• Schutz nach wiederherstellender Bandoperation

• permanente Stabilisationshilfe bei komplexer Insta-

bilität des oberen und/oder unteren Sprunggelenks

Anwendungsrisiken

• Die CaligaLoc ist nur gemäß den Angaben dieser

Gebrauchsanweisung und den aufgeführten Anwen

­dungsgebieten zu tragen. Um einen optimalen Sitz
der CaligaLoc zu gewährleisten, muss überprüft
werden, ob das Produkt ausreichend angeformt ist.
Die CaligaLoc kann bei Bedarf körpergerecht vom
Fachpersonal

nachgeformt werden.

• Sprechen Sie eine Kombination mit anderen
Produkten, z. B. wenn Sie Kompressionsstrümpfe
tragen, vorher mit Ihrem behandelnden Arzt ab.

• Nehmen Ihre Beschwerden zu oder stellen Sie

außergewöhnliche Veränderungen an sich fest,
suchen Sie bitte umgehend Ihren Arzt auf.

• Bei unsachgemäßer oder zweckentfremdeter An

-

wendung ist eine Produkthaftung ausgeschlossen.

• Nebenwirkungen, die den gesamten Organismus
betreen, sind bis jetzt nicht bekannt. Das sach­gemäße Anwenden/Anlegen wird vorausgesetzt.
Legen Sie die CaligaLoc nicht zu fest an, da es sonst
zu lokalen Druckerscheinungen kommen kann. In
seltenen Fällen ist eine Einengung von Blutgefäßen
und Nerven möglich. Lockern Sie in diesem Fall die
Gurte der CaligaLoc und lassen Sie ggf. die Größe
Ihrer CaligaLoc überprüfen.

Kontraindikationen

Überempfindlichkeiten von Krankheitswert sind bis
jetzt nicht bekannt. Bei nachfolgenden Krankheits

­bildern ist das Anlegen und Tragen eines solchen
Hilfsmittels nur nach Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt
angezeigt:

• Hauterkrankungen/-verletzungen im versorgten

Körperabschnitt, besonders bei entzündlichen
Erscheinungen, ebenso aufgeworfene Narben mit
Anschwellung, Rötung und Überwärmung

• Empfindungs- und Bewegungsstörungen der Beine/

Füße, z. B. bei Zuckerkrankheit (Diabetes mellitus)

• Lymphabflussstörungen, auch unklare Weichteil

schwellungen körperfern der angelegten Orthese.

Anwendungshinweise

Anziehen/Anlegen der CaligaLoc

A – Kunststoschale, B – oberer Gurt,
C – unterer Gurt, D – mittlerer Y- Gurt

Wir empfehlen einen Strumpf unter der CaligaLoc
zu tragen.

Setzen Sie sich zum Anlegen der CaligaLoc auf
einen Stuhl. Stellen Sie Ihren Fuß im 90°-Winkel
zum Unterschenkel auf dem Boden, um die Orthese
optimal anlegen zu können,

Önen Sie alle Gurte.
Stellen Sie den betroenen Fuß mit der Ferse bündig
auf die Sohle der CaligaLoc. Der hintere Teil des
Fußes ist dabei an der Außenseite von der Kunststo

-

schale umschlossen.

Legen Sie nun den oberen
Gurt von hinten um den Unterschenkel und führen
Sie diesen im Schienbeinbereich durch die Öse.

Kletten Sie den Gurt auf dem darunterliegenden

Teil fest.

Führen Sie den unteren Gurt über den
Fußrücken zur Außenseite des Fußes und kletten
Sie diesen fest. Bei Bedarf kann der Gurt mit einer
Schere gekürzt werden.

Verfahren Sie mit dem
Y-Gurt wie folgt: Führen Sie den vorderen Gurt vor
dem Schienbein und

den hinteren Gurt um die
Ferse in die Umlenkösen und kletten Sie diese auf
dem darunterliegenden Gurtteil fest. Ziehen Sie die
Gurte bei Bedarf noch einmal nach.

Ausziehen/Ablegen der CaligaLoc

Önen Sie alle Klettgurte und steigen sie nach vorn
aus der Orthese heraus.

Reinigungshinweise

Hinweis: Setzen Sie die CaligaLoc nie direkter

Hitze (z. B. Heizung, Sonneneinstrahlung, Lagerung
im Pkw) aus! Dadurch sind Schäden am Material
möglich. Dies kann die Wirksamkeit der CaligaLoc
beeinträchtigen.

Das Einnähetikett der CaligaLoc mit Informationen
zu Produktnamen, Größe, Hersteller, Waschanleitung
und CE-Kennzeichnung befindet sich unter dem
oberen Gurt der Orthese.

Önen Sie zunächst alle Klettverschlüsse. Ziehen
Sie dann jeweils den kompletten Gurt aus der Öse.
Kletten Sie die Enden auf dem Gurt auf, um Beschä

­digungen zu vermeiden. Wischen Sie die Schale und
das Polster mit einem feuchten Tuch ab. Nutzen Sie
ein mildes Reinigungsmittel.

The CaligaLoc is intended for your sole use and has
been individually adapted for you. For this reason, do
not pass the CaligaLoc on to other people.

Warranty

The legal provisions of the country in which the
product was purchased apply. Country-specific
warranty regulations that govern the relationship
between the retailer and the buyer also apply where
relevant. If you believe that a claim may be made
under the warranty, please first contact the retailer
from which you purchased the product directly.

Please do not make any changes to the product
yourself. This particularly applies to individual
adjustments made by specialists. Please follow our
instructions for use and care. These are based on
our experience gained over many years and ensure
the functionality of our medically eective products
for a long time. Only aids that function optimally can
help you. Failure to follow the instructions may also
restrict the warranty.

Disposal

You can dispose of the CaligaLoc in accordance with
national legal requirements.

General notes

• Check the optimal and individual fit of the CaligaLoc

at the first fitting. Make any corrections if necessary.

• Practice the correct procedure for putting on the

orthosis with the patient.

• The product must not be changed in any improper

way. Failure to comply with this requirement may
adversely aect the medical and therapeutic
eectiveness of the product, thereby voiding any
product liability.

• The CaligaLoc is intended for the treatment of one

patient only.

Adapting the CaligaLoc

Check the fit of the CaligaLoc on the patient. Pay
careful attention to the patient‘s individual anatomy
(e. g. the lateral malleolus).

Carefully remove the

cushion from the plastic shell.



If necessary, adapt
the CaligaLoc using a hot-air gun at 120-140 °C
(250-280 °F).

Wear protective gloves when you

are doing this.

Glue the inner cushion back into

the plastic shell.

If the ankle is badly swollen and the cushion is
therefore pressing against the lateral malleolus,
we recommend making a cutout in this part of the
cushion. Use sharp scissors or a cutter knife and cut
along the embossing.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity reactions harmful to health have
not been reported to date. In the following conditions
such aids should only be fitted and applied after
consultation with your physician:

• Skin disorders/injuries in the relevant part of
the body, particularly if inflammation is present.
Likewise, any raised scars with swelling, redness
and excessive heat build-up.

• Impaired sensation and movement disorders of the
legs/feet, e. g. in the case of diabetes mellitus

• Impaired lymph drainage, including soft tissue
swellings of uncertain origin located remotely from
the fitted orthosis

Application instructions

Putting on/fitting the CaligaLoc

A – plastic shell, B – upper strap,
C – lower strap, D – middle Y-shaped strap

We recommend that hosiery should be worn under
the CaligaLoc.

Sit down on a chair to put on the CaligaLoc. Place
your foot on the floor with your foot at a 90° angle to
your lower leg, as this is the best position for fitting
the orthosis.

Undo all the straps. Place the relevant foot on
the sole of the CaligaLoc, taking care to ensure the
correct position of the heel. The outside of the back
of the foot should now be encased by the plastic
shell.

Now wrap the upper strap round your lower
leg from behind and guide it through the loop in the
shin bone area.

Secure the end of the strap by
fastening the Velcro to the section of strap which
is underneath it.

Guide the lower strap over the
instep of the foot to the outside of the foot and secure
it in place with the Velcro. If necessary, the strap
can be cut with scissors to make it shorter.

For
the Y-shaped strap, proceed as follows: Guide the
front strap in front of the shin bone and

the rear
strap round the heel into the guide loops, then use
the Velcro to secure them to the section of strap
underneath. Tighten the straps again if necessary.

Taking o/removing the CaligaLoc

Undo all the Velcro straps and lift your foot up and
forward out of the orthosis.

Cleaning instructions

Note: Never expose the CaligaLoc to direct heat (e.g.

heater, sunlight, in your car, etc.)! This could damage
the material. This can impair the eectiveness of the
CaligaLoc.

The sewn-in label of the CaligaLoc, which contains
information on the product name, size, manufacturer,
washing instructions and CE certification, is located
underneath the upper strap of the orthosis.

First undo all of the Velcro fastenings. Then pull
each strap out of its loop completely. Fasten the
ends back onto the straps to avoid any damage. Use
a damp cloth to wipe the shell and cushion. Use a
mild cleanser.

Permissible conditions and places of use

In accordance with the indications (ankle joint).

Maintenance instructions

With correct handling and care, the product is
practically maintenance-free.

Assembly instructions

The CaligaLoc is supplied ready for use.

Technical data/parameters

The CaligaLoc is an ankle orthosis with three
attached straps. The straps are not removable.

carefully, because they contain important information
about the use, indications, contraindications, fitting,
care and disposal of the CaligaLoc. Please keep
these instructions in case you need to refer to them
again in the future. If you have any questions, please
contact your physician or medical retailer.

Intended purpose

The CaligaLoc is an anatomically contoured orthosis1
for the ankle joint. The CaligaLoc prevents the lateral
twisting of the ankle to the outside and provides
eective support for the muscular stabilization of
the upper and lower ankle. The outside of the foot
is raised, providing additional relief for the outer
ligaments. The CaligaLoc can be adjusted individually
using the adjustable Velcro straps. CaligaLoc is
suitable for use in comfortable outdoor and sports
shoes, and can also be worn without shoes overnight.

Indications

• Non-surgical treatment of torn ankle ligaments or a

badly sprained ankle joint (distortion)

• Protection following reconstructive ligament

surgery

• Permanent stabilization for complex instability of

the upper and/or lower ankle

• CaligaLoc must only be worn in accordance with

the specifications contained in these instructions
for use and the areas of application (places of use)
listed. To ensure the optimum fit of the CaligaLoc,
it is essential to check whether the product is
adequately shaped. If necessary, the CaligaLoc can
be anatomically re-shaped by a specialist

• Please consult your physician in advance if you

intend to use this product in combination with other
products, e. g. if you wear compression stockings for
compression therapy.

• Should you notice any unusual changes (e.g.

increased symptoms), please contact your physician
without delay.

• No product liability is accepted in the event of

improper use.

• Side eects involving the body as a whole have not

been reported to date. Correct usage and fitting
is assumed. Do not fit the CaligaLoc too tightly, as
this could lead to local pressure symptoms. In rare
cases, constriction of blood vessels and nerves
may occur. If this happens, loosen the straps of the
CaligaLoc and, if necessary, check the size of your
CaligaLoc.
