This instruction manual contains information about installation, operation and
maintenance of the appliance and constitutes an important source of information
and reference guide. The knowledge of all operational and safety instructions
included in this manual is a prerequisite for safe and proper handling of the
appliance. Additionally, accident prevention, occupational health and safety, and
legal regulations in force in the area the appliance is used apply.

1 Safety

1.2Safety instructions
Electrical Current
• Too high a mains voltage or incorrect installation may cause electric shock.
• The appliance may be connected only if data on the rating plate correspond with
the mains voltage.
• To avoid short-circuit, the appliance should be kept dry.
• If there are malfunctions during operation, disconnect the appliance from the
power supply.
• Do not touch the appliance’s plug with wet hands.
• Never take hold of the appliance if it has fallen into water. Immediately
disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
• Any repairs or housing opening may be carried out by professionals and
relevant workshops only.

Flammable Materials

• Use the appliance only with materials designated to this end and with correct

spirit, alcohol, etc. High temperature triggers evaporation of these materials,
and, as a result of contact with sources of ignition, an explosion may occur.
• In case of fire, disconnect the appliance from the power supply before

Operating Personnel

2.1Liability and Warranty
All information and instructions in this instruction manual account for legal
regulations in force, current level of technical engineering knowledge as well as our
expertise and experience, developed over the years. If special models or additional
options are ordered, or state-of-the-art technical solutions were implemented, the
actual scope of delivery of the appliance may, in some circumstances, differ from
descriptions and numerous drawings in this instruction manual.
The manufacturer is not liable for any damages nor faults stemming from:
– failure to observe instructions,
– unintended use,
– technical alterations introduced by the user,
– usage of unapproved spare parts.
We reserve the right to introduce technical modifications to the product, intended for
improvement of the appliance and its performance.

Transport, Packaging and Storage

3 Transport, Packaging and Storage
3.1Delivery Check
Immediately upon reception, check the delivery for completeness and possible
shipping damage. In the case of visible transport damage refuse to accept the
appliance or accept it conditionally. Mark and note the scope of damage in shipping
documents/consignment list of the shipping company and lodge a complaint.
Concealed damage must be reported immediately upon its discovery, as
compensation claims may only be filed within applicable time limits.
If you find that parts or accessories missing, please contact our Customer Service
Department.
3.2 Packaging
Do not dispose of the appliance cardboard box. It may be used to store the
appliance when relocating or when shipping the appliance to our service point in the
case of any damages.
The packaging and its elements are made of recyclable materials. Particularly,
these are: plastic films and bags, cardboard box.
When disposing of the packaging, observe applicable domestic regulations.
Recyclable packaging materials should be recycled.
3.3 Storage
Leave the packaging closed until installation of the appliance; observe external
indications concerning method of placing and storage. Store the packaging in the
following conditions only:
– in closed rooms;
– in dry and dust-free surrounding;
– away from aggressive agents;
– in a location protected against sunlight;
– in a location protected against mechanical shocks.
In the case of extended storage (over three months), make sure you check the
condition of the packaging and the parts regularly. If needed, replace the packaging
with a new one.

CAUTION!

Prevent children from accessing package materials, for instance: plastic
bags and EPS.
4.3 Functions of the Appliance
Water in the water tank circulates in the riser pipe as long as the water temperature
reaches 89°C. Then the brewing heating element switches off and the warmkeeping heating element switches on. The green warm-keeping indicator light
comes on. The coffee is kept warm for the required period.
5 Installation and operation
5.1Installation
Unpacking / Positioning
• Unpack the appliance, remove all external and internal packaging elements and
shipment safeguards.
• If the appliance is covered with a protective film, remove it. Remove the film
slowly, so no glue residues are left. Remove any glue residues with the use of a
suitable solvent.
• Be careful not to damage the rating plate and warning labels fixed on the
appliance.
• Never place the appliance in humid or wet environment.
• Place the appliance in a way making the connections easily accessible, so that
they may be quickly disconnected if such a need arises.
• The appliance should be placed on surfaces that are:
– even, with sufficient bearing capacity, resistant to water, dry and resistant
to high temperatures;
– sufficiently large, and thus enabling usage of the appliance with no
problems;
– easily accessible;
– well ventilated.
• Maintain sufficient clearance from table edges. The appliance might turn over
and fall down.
• Leave at least 10 cm clearance from flammable walls and items.

WARNING!
Risk of scalding!
The water tank and the lid heat up considerably during operation.
Do not touch the hot appliance.
Parts of the filter basket and coffee dregs are becoming very hot.
When removing the filter basket assembly after the end of the brewing
process, use safety gloves.
Risk of burns!
Hot steam coming out when the lid is removed may cause scalding
of hands, arms and face.
Never remove the lid when the appliance is operating.
Use the lid handle and safety gloves when removing the lid.
Overfilling may lead to hot water leaks and scalding!
Observe the maximum filling volume!
Power supply connection
• Verify if technical data of the appliance (see rating plate) correspond with the
local electric power grid specification.
• Connect the appliance to a single, properly grounded mains socket with
protective contact. Do not connect the appliance to a multi-socket.
• The power cord should be laid in a way preventing anyone from threading on it
or tripping against it.
• Do not use the appliance with an external timer or remote control.
5.2Operation
Coffee preparation
1. Before use, clean the appliance, observing instructions in section 6“Cleaning”.
2. Fill tank with cold, potable water.
The required fill level may be read from fill level indicator.

ATTENTION!
Do not fill the water tank with water over the maximum indication on the
fill level indicator!
Never use warm water for coffee preparation in this appliance!
Never use the appliance without water!
• Pay attention to the minimum required volume for brewing during the coffee
preparation. It is:
for A190149: 20 cups — 3.0 litres
for A190199: 30 cups — 4.5 litres
3. To assemble the filter basket assembly put the riser pipe into the filter basket
opening and place both elements together in the tank.
4. Make sure that the riser pipe is placed in the centre of the heating bowl in the
tank bottom.
5. Put the right round paper filter into the filter basket.
NOTE!
The coffee maker may be used only with the round paper filter.
We recommend the right round paper filter: BARTSCHER A190009 or A190009250
for Regina Plus 40 (A190149) model and round paper filter A190011 or
A190011250 for Regina Plus 90 (A190199) model.
6. Pour coarsely ground coffee to the filter basket (approx. 6 g per cup).
NOTE: The recommended coffee amount may be larger or smaller,
depending on the preferences.
7. Close the water tank with the lid. To lock it, follow the instructions given on the
lid.
ATTENTION!
Before connecting the appliance to the mains supply, make sure the
ON/OFF switch is in 'O' position.
8. Plug the appliance into a suitable single socket.
9. Start the coffee maker by switching the ON/OFF switch to position 'I'.
During the brewing process the red operation control light in the switch will come
on.
When the brewing process is finished, the green warm-keeping indicator light will
come on additionally.

1. Place a cup under the drain tap, press
the tap slightly down and hold until the
cup is filled with required amount of
coffee.
2. Release the drain tap — it closes
automatically.
3. In order to obtain full flow press the tap
lever fully down.
The temperature will be reduced automatically and coffee will be kept in the serving
temperature, until the ON/OFF switch is switched to 'O' position or the plug is
removed from the mains socket.

Switching the appliance off
1. Switch the ON/OFF switch to 'O' position, when liquid stops flowing from the
drain tap of a vertically positioned appliance.
2. Disconnect the appliance from mains power supply
3. If needed, after cooling down, refill the coffee machine with fresh water and run
anew the brewing process.
Safety thermostat
The appliance is equipped with a safety thermostat that is activated in case of
overheating of the appliance. The red malfunction indicator light comes on.
The safety thermostat is engaged in the following cases:
1. There is no water in the water tank. Proceed the following way:
– Switch the appliance off.
– After cooling down, press the RESET button at the bottom of the
appliance.
– Refill with fresh water.
– Switch the appliance on as usual.
2. The appliance is scaled. In such a case proceed the following way:
– Switch the appliance off.
– Descale the appliance following the instructions in section “Descaling”.

– After descaling, press the RESET button at the bottom of the appliance.
– Refill with fresh water.
– Switch the appliance on as usual.
ATTENTION!
Dry operation or scaling of the appliance may lead to malfunction of the
heating element. If the coffee machine does not work after dry operation or
descaling, contact the service company.
6 Cleaning
6.1Safety Instructions for Cleaning
• Before cleaning, disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
• Leave the appliance to cool down completely.
• Make sure water does not enter the appliance. Do not immerse the appliance in
water or other liquids during cleaning. Do not clean the appliance with a
pressurized water jet.
• Do not use any sharp or pointed, nor metal implements (knife, fork, etc.). Sharp
or pointed implements may damage the appliance, and when in contact with live
parts, they may cause electric shock.
• For cleaning, do not use any scouring agents that contain solvents nor corrosive
cleaning agents. They may damage the surface.
6.2Cleaning
Daily cleaning
1. Clean the appliance after each use.
2. After use, clean the filter basket, riser pipe, and lid with warm water and gentle,
commercially available cleaning agent for professional coffee machines. Follow
the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. The water tank should be kept free from any deposits and coffee dregs. It may
be easily cleaned with the use of gentle scrubbing agent and a dishcloth.
4. Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a soft, moist cloth.
5. Dry the cleaned surfaces and elements with a soft cloth.
6. To clean the drain tap, fill the water tank with warm water and drain it through
the drain tap.

1. Put the steel wool cloth soaked in soap or
thin dishcloth on the heating bowl.
2. Then introduce the narrow end of the
cleaning scraper into the heating bowl.
3. Clean the heating bowl through repeatedly
turning the cleaning scraper inside out and
to the left and right.
The heating bowl is clean, when the metal
shines.
ATTENTION!
After cleaning, check the gasket at the bottom end of the riser pipe. If it is
not fitted correctly, is missing or is hard, maintaining the right position of
the riser pipe in the heating bowl may be impossible, which in turn may
negatively influence the operation of the appliance.
Weekly cleaning
Heating Bowl
The heating bowl in the bottom of the appliance must be thoroughly cleaned every
week, especially in case of daily use of the appliance.
There is a scraper for cleaning the heating bowl in the package of the appliance.
NOTE!
Always use the enclosed cleaning scraper.
4. After cleaning, rinse the water tank thoroughly to remove all residuals of soap
and cleaning agents.

1. Undo the screw (d) at the top next to the
fill level indicator support.
2. Remove the glass pipe (b) and the top
gasket (c).
3. Introduce the bottle brush into the glass
pipe (b) and clean it thoroughly, using
warm water and a gentle washing agent.
4. Rinse thoroughly with clear water.
5. Then fit the fill level indicator onto the
support. Pay attention at the right position
of gaskets (c) at the bottom and at the
top.

If needed, the fill level indicator (a) may be cleaned from the inside using the right
bottle brush.
ATTENTION!
Pay attention if the glass pipe is correctly positioned in the gasket.
Tighten the screw union gently, as the glass pipe may be broken.
6. Tighten the fill level indicator screw (d).
6.3 Descaling
Depending on the water hardness level in the place of usage, limescale may be
deposited in the water tank and the heating bowl during the operation of the coffee
machine. In order to maintain the appliance in the best possible condition, and in
order to be certain that every brewing process yields the best results, the appliance
should be descaled regularly.
The appliance is equipped with red malfunction indicator. Depending on the
hardness of the water used, the indicator may be activated after a certain number of
brewing cycles, which indicates that the appliance must be descaled. The
thermostat is activated and thus it stops the operation of the appliance.
NOTE!
To reduce limescale deposits, it is recommended to use filtered water!

For descaling the appliance we recommend the tried and proven agent:
Descaling agent B15-30, 30 pcs., art. No. 190065
To descale the appliance, perform the following steps:
– Fill the water tank with at least 3 or 4.5 l of fresh potable water.
– Add the sufficient amount of descaling agent to water (follow indications
on the packaging).
– Slide the riser pipe through the filter basket centre and place it in the
heating bowl, in the bottom of the water tank. Pay attention to correct
fitting of the riser pipe in the heating bowl.
– Place the lid on the water tank.
– Switch the appliance on with the ON/OFF switch.
– Perform the brewing cycle and leave the appliance on for approx. 15
minutes.
– Switch the appliance off.
– Use the drain tap to drain the descaling agent solution from the water
tank.
– After descaling, perform at least two brewing cycles with the use of fresh
water, without ground coffee, to remove all remains of the descaling
solution.
– Rinse the tank, riser pipe and filter basket thoroughly with warm water,
and drain the water through the drain tap.
After descaling, the appliance may be switched on only after pressing the RESET
button, located at the bottom of the appliance.
During the subsequent start-up, the red malfunction indicator light will not come on.
