When the sharpener is removed during
operation the appliance stops. After correct
fitting of the sharpener, the appliance does not
start automatically, but must be re-started with
the START button.

Residual risks (e.g. danger of injury) may be present also when slicing smaller
pieces or pushing residues. To this end, the appliance is equipped with the pusher
handle with pusher.
After disassembly of the appliance for cleaning, pay particular attention to the blade,
as with the sharpener removed, part of the blade is exposed.

5 Installation and operation
5.1Installation
Unpacking / Positioning
• Unpack the appliance, remove all external and internal packaging elements and
shipment safeguards.
• If the appliance is covered with a protective film, remove it. Remove the film
slowly, so no glue residues are left. Remove any glue residues with the use of a
suitable solvent.
• Be careful not to damage the rating plate and warning labels fixed on the
appliance.
• Never place the appliance in humid or wet environment.
• Place the appliance in a way making the connections easily accessible, so that
they may be quickly disconnected if such a need arises.
• The appliance should be placed on surfaces that are:
– even, with sufficient bearing capacity, resistant to water, dry and resistant
to high temperatures;
– sufficiently large, and thus enabling usage of the appliance with no
problems;
– easily accessible;
– well ventilated.
• Maintain sufficient clearance from table edges. The appliance might turn over
and fall down.
• When selecting the place to set the appliance in, consider the dimensions of the
appliance (section “Technical Specification”). Provide enough space to securely
operate the appliance.
• Operation location must be well lit.
• Place the appliance in a way making the operator be constantly able to see the
ON/OFF switch and slice thickness adjustment knob.
174303 13 / 24
Installation and operation
EN
To securely use the slicer, keep at least 20 cm distance from the slicer and walls,
objects, cupboards, etc.
• The distance from the floor should be approx. 80 cm.
Power supply connection
• Verify if technical data of the appliance (see rating plate) correspond with the
local electric power grid specification.
• Connect the appliance to a single, properly grounded mains socket with
protective contact. Do not connect the appliance to a multi-socket.
• The power cord should be laid in a way preventing anyone from threading on it
or tripping against it.
• Do not use the appliance with an external timer or remote control.
5.2Operation
Before the First Use
1. Remove transport protection means from the appliance:
– plastic blade cover;
– preserving film.
2. Before use, clean the appliance according to the instructions set out in point 6
“Cleaning”.
3. Check before starting:
– if the parts removed for cleaning are refitted correctly;
– if the carriage is fitted with the carriage locking knob;
– if the sharpener is correctly fitted;
– opening of the movable slice thickness partition with the slice thickness
adjustment knob by rotating it clockwise and counter-clockwise;
– if the food tray is sliding freely by moving it with the handle;
– if the pusher handle moves freely by raising and lowering it with the
pusher grip.

Installation and operation
EN
WARNING!
Danger of injury inflicted by sharp blade!
Never assume the position in which hands, fingers or other parts of the
body may come into contact with the blade.
Never put hands between the pusher handle (4) and the blade (1) or the
movable slice thickness partition (17) until they are completely closed
(slice thickness adjustment knob (11) set to “0” position).
Keep hands away from the blade (1) during operation. Use the pusher
grip with pusher (4).
Slicing Process
1. Prior to loading the slicer with food products for slicing, the slice thickness
adjustment knob should be set to “0” position (red point) and start the
appliance.
2. Lift the pusher handle (4) and put the food product to be sliced on the food tray
(6) so that it is between the movable slice thickness partition (17) and the
pusher handle with pusher (4).
3. Assume correct position: make sure to stand in a vertical position in relation to
the working table.
4. Set the desired slice thickness with the slice thickness adjustment knob (11) in
the range of 1–15 mm.
5. Start the appliance through pushing of the green START button (14).
The orange operational control lamp lights (13).
6. Hold the pusher grip (5) with the right hand and place the left hand ready next to
the slice guide (20) in order to remove the slices (do not touch the blade).
7. Slowly move the carriage (7) (carriage tray + pusher handle + grip) by slightly
pressing the product towards the blade (1).
The product to be sliced comes into contact with the blade; the slice slides via the
slice guide (20) and falls on the slice tray (15) positioned behind the movable slice
thickness partition (17).
7. When the slicing operations are finished, switch the slicer off with the red STOP
button (12) and set the slice thickness adjustment knob (11) to “0” position. Do
not allow the appliance to run idle.

8. The sliced product may now be removed from the slice tray (15).
9. When the surface of a sliced product becomes frayed or coarse and the cutting
operations become cumbersome, the blade must be sharpened.
Blade Sharpening
The slicer’s bladeis sharpened with the appliance’s sharpener.
1. Disconnect the appliance from the socket (pull the plug).
2. Prior to sharpening, the blade must be cleaned.
3. Before sharpening, carefully clean the edge of the blade with denatured alcohol
to degrease it.
4. Dry the blade thoroughly.
5. Carry out the sharpening process as indicated below:
– remove the sharpener from the appliance (Fig. 2);
– rotate the sharpener by 180° and set it onto the mandrel, until you feel
resistance (Fig. 3).
16 / 24 174303
Installation and operation
EN
The sharpener is now ready for blade sharpening (Fig. 4).
Prior to blade sharpening, make sure the slicer is prepared the same way as for the
slicing process. Proceed in the following way:
1. Connect the appliance to the power supply.
2. Turn the appliance on by pressing the START button (14).
3. For 5 – 10 seconds, keep the rear wall grinding button pressed (Fig. 4).
4. Then, for the same period of time, press the front smoothing button.
5. At the end of the sharpening process keep both buttons — rear wall button and
front wall smoothing button — pressed for 2 – 3 seconds in order to deburr the
blade (Fig. 4).
ATTENTION: Deburring should not take longer than 2 – 3 seconds to avoid
the cutting edge deformation.
6. Turn the appliance off by pressing the STOP button (12).
7. Check if the blade is sharp enough.
Blade sharpness may be checked with the use of slice of paper, running it through
blade edge. Sharp blade will cut the paper instantly.
8. Clean the grinding stones after sharpening. They should always be kept clean,
to have them operate correctly. Follow the instructions in section 6 “Cleaning”.
9. In order to clean the blade (1), remove the blade protective cover (3). Follow the
instructions in section 6 “Cleaning”.
10. To finish with, refit the blade protective cover (3).
11. Set the sharpener (2) back in its initial position (Fig. 1), proceeding in reverse
order.
NOTE: Sharpening process gradually diminishes the blade diameter.
Diameter of a new blade is 250 mm. If the blade diameter is smaller than
240 mm, further sharpening is no longer possible and the blade must be
exchanged with a new one.
