OLIVER
CUTOFF MACHINE
Capable of over 100 cycles per minute
Highly productive for Nipples, Coup
lings, Ferrules, Bushings, Spacers and
all other Tubular Products from *4" to
2" outside diameter. Also adaptable
to cutting solid round bars up to about
1*4" diameter.
Offers choice of either roller cutter for
peak production of parts from pipe or
tubing; or conventional cut-off blade
for parts from solid round bars and
tubing requiring square cut ends.
Work pieces can be chamfered or
rounded on the outside diameter, at
both ends.
Some light forming and grooving
operations can be performed while
cutting off.
Two or more pieces of short length can
often be cut off at one time with the
conventional type of cut-off blade.
Overall lengths of work pieces are
consistently held within a few thou
sandths of an inch.
Cut off and chamfered ends of work
pieces are accurate and true running,
with smooth finish.
Complete setup change, from one dia
meter
and length of work to another,
can easily be made in 30 to 40 min
utes. Change of length only can be
made in from 5 to 10 minutes.
From the wide range of quick change
speeds and feeds available, the cor
rect combination of both can readily
be selected for maximum production.

THE GEARED HEAD, with an 1800 r.p.m. or 3600 r.p.m. motor,
provides six quick change spindle speeds. A choice of several speed
ranges is offered. Twelve speeds are obtainable, if needed, by the
use of a two speed 1800/3600 r.p.m. motor. Since the spindle and
all gear shafts are mounted in anti-friction bearings, a quiet free running
head is assured. All gear teeth are precision finished after heat treat
ment. The sliding gears are mounted on heat treated alloy steel, in
tegral ground spline shafts. Force feed lubrication is provided.

A MOTOR DRIVEN IMPELLER TYPE

A STANDARD FLANGED TYPE, BALL BEARING MOTOR is
bolted directly to the end of the head with the rotor mounted on the
first drive shaft. The motor thus becomes an integral part of the machine,
eliminating pulleys, belts, idler, guard, and motor cabinet. Ventila
tion is greatly improved, and the motor is more readily accessible for
inspection or servicing.
THE MASTER COLLET is of hinged type to give long life under
high cycle operation. When changing collet jaws, it is not necessary

torted ends to be fed thru the collet jaws. The collet mechanism is air
operated to provide maximum cycles per minute.

.THE CUT OFF SLIDE is of square lock construction. Both the slide and its saddle are fitted
with hardened and ground alloy steel ways. A floating roller cutter holder, or interchangeably,
a tool holder for a conventional type of cut-off blade, can be mounted on the cut off slide.
Since the tool holder base covers the full width of the slide, two or more
can be used at one time, permitting multiple cuts to be taken when cutting parts up to about
five inches long, if over about % inch
AN AUXILIARY CHAMFERING SLIDE is offered as
chamfering or rounding operations while cutting off. It is mounted in a rigid bracket on tM^
headstock and carries an end cutting type chamfering cutter. This form cutter has four reversib^^
cutting positions and
A SEPARATE CAM operates each tool slide. Both cams are mounted on a shaft directly
under the rear of the cut off slide. Either or both cams may be readily changed in about one
minute.

THE CARRIAGE APRON provides three quick change
feeds to the cut off slide. A conveniently located lever on
the front of the apron engages and disengages the feed clutch.
Easily removable, reversible, change gears in the head end
gear train bracket, provide for further feed changes if necessary.
THE ROLLER STOCK FEED produces lengths up
6 inches automatically, at maximum rate. Lengths between
^ about 6 to 18 inches may be produced automatically at a
W somewhat reduced rate. Lengths over about 18 inches may
be produced semi-automatically by operating machine single
cycle. The feed is motor driven, and the correct rate of speed
can be selected by means of the variable pitch Vee belt
pulley.
