1. PMP REPLACEMENT KIT

1.1 Introduction

The PMP kit contains the 6000 series PMP

This installation manual gives som e background information about the R6000 software/PMP compatibility
The InfoT 386 handles this issue in detail.

PMP and Software compatibility

The change from V1.xx to V2.02 improved the uniformity alignment from a 1-level to a 3-level correction.
Upgrade to V3.xx is necessary for the NEW PMP board.

• Soft V1.xx : 1-level uniformity corre ction for ALL color temperatures and Projector White.

• Soft V2.02 onwards : 3-level uniformity corrections as follows :
6500°K: 2 levels = grey + full white
Projector White : 1 level = grey

V1.xx to V2.02 Upgrade

In the new soft V2.02, because of the 3 levels, we ha ve now two tables for corrections: one for 6500K and another one for PW.
Both tables MUST be filled in, they cannot remain "empty".
An upgrade from V1.xx to V2.02 is the

no values available for these two tables.
There are two options when an upgrade is required :

1. The projector is returned to the factory for a complete new 3-level uniformity alignment and software upgrade. When the pro­jector returns, a full re-alignment based on 3 leve ls uniformity is done, beside the upgrade to V2.02.
This return can be an opportunity to replace the consumables like polars, analyzers and/or panels. In this
case a full TCR re-alignment will be done as well

1. One does the upgrade himself a nd uses the special program CGU625PW.exe to make the new soft compatible with the old
1-level uniformity correction.
With this program the 1-level grey uniformity corrections are copied to the new empty tables and the full
white corrections are set to a "no correction" status. This all means that the uniformity is the same as
before, not improved by the upgrade…

New PMP board

The (first) PMP version R763067 was replaced by the R763864 due to a different mapping of new FPGA’s. This hardware change
has implied a change of the software version to V3.xx.

This means that the new PMP board R763864 requires software versions from V3.xx onwards.

V3.xx is not downwards compatible i.e. works only with the new PMP R763864 and does not work with the old PMP!
Whenever you replace the "old" R763067 by the newer version R763864 you MUST update the soft to minimum V3.01.
The procedure in case you replace the old PMP by the new version will depend on the existing software in the projector.
If the software in the projector is lower than V2.02, you have to upgrade to V3.01 and this will necessitate all 4 steps (

hereafter)
In case you have to change from a 1-level version to a 3-level uniformity version you can decide to return the projector to the factory

for an upgrade including the 3-level uniformity adjustment.
If however you decidenot to return the projector, then,youcan upgrade yourself provided that you

(see later for more details).
Without this additional program the upgrade is impossible.
When the soft in the projector is V2.02 (thus already with the 3-level uniformity) you just have to upgrade to V3.01. No need to run

the special program.

Software files

When you unzip the V3.01 Reality 6500 software you get two files:

• Br65.3.01_def.bin: default upgrade

• Br65.301.bin: soft upgrade

How to upgrade from V1.xx to V2.02 with OLD PMP (R763067)

1. Unzipping the R6500 V3.01 soft you get two bin. files (see hereafter).

2. When you upgrade to V2.02 you just upgrade the soft with the default switch in the OFF position, not in the ON position as

described in step B hereafter.

3. Run the CGU652PW.exe program

How to upgrade from V1.xx to V3.01 with NEW PMP (R763864)

1. Upgrade of the default program

2. Reboot the CPU.

3. Upgrade the full software from default

The CGU652PW program

The program does two things:

1. Initialization of the full white settings in 6500K

2. Re-use the 1-level grey uniformity corrections for 6500K and copy to the Projector White- grey table.

This program does not improve the uniformity !

CAUTION: VERY IMPORTANTREMARK! BE CAREFUL! This program do es not check the software version in

the p rojector before you start.
There is a big risk when you run this program in a projector having already the 3-level uniformity correction.

The final result is that you overwrite the factory set 3 - level corrections. Thefinal result is a worse uniformity !

Summary

If case of doubts, please contact Barco before starting the upgrade.
Check the soft of the projector before you start the CGU625PW.exe program.
When the projector was upgraded with the above special uniformity program to e.g. V2.02, it is not possible to differentiate it from a

factory adjusted 3-level V2.02 projector (i.e. except for the image quality !) .
