2.1Power connection
Overview
1. Connect the supplied external DC power supply to the +19 VDC power input of your JAO15 / JAO18.
2. Plug the other end of the external DC power supply into a grounded power outlet by means of the proper
power cord delivered in the packaging.
3. Optionally, earth the terminal by connecting the functional earth blind fastener to a grounded outlet by
means of a wire with at minimum AWG18 size (according to national Regulation requirements regarding
maximum admitted cable length). Use an M3 screw to attach the wire to the functional earth blind
fastener.
Image 2-1
WARNING: When you unplug the power cable, always pull the plug, never pull the cable.
Although the JAO15 and JAO18 have a very low standby power consumption, unplug
the power cable to save e nergy if you do not use the terminal for a long period of time.

3.2Service call
Overview
The optional service call button and status LED of the JAOHandset are internally wired to the RJ11 Service
Call connector which can be connected to the hospital’s internal network service call system.
The electrical signal of the service call button in the JAOHandset and the status LED of the JAOHandset
can be detected/controlled on the RJ11 Service Call connector of your JAO15 / JAO18. Please refer to the
connector pinout below for more details. The electrical signal requirements are available in the technical
specification tables of this user guide (see "Technical specifications", page 28).
WARNING: The RJ11 connector may not be connected to a telephony or telecom net-
work and is for use only with the hospital’s internal network service call system
The service call button is optional and not present on all JAOHandset models.

marked with symbol:
At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the higher frequency range applies.
These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and refle ction from structures, obje cts and people.
Recommended separation distance
The JAO15 / JAO18 is intended for use in an electromagnetic environment in which radiated RF disturbances are controlled. The customer of the user of the JAO15 / JAO18 can help prevent electromagnetic
interference by maintaining a minimum distance between portable and mobile RF communications equipment (transmitters) and the JAO15 / JAO18 as recommended below, according to the maximum output
power of the communications equipment.
3. Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio (cellular/cordless) telephones and land mobile radios, amateur
radio, AM and FM radio broadcast and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy. To assess the electromagnetic
environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured field strength in the
location in which the JAO15 / JAO18 is used exceeds the applicable RF compliance level above, the JAO15 / JAO18 should be observed
to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed, additional measures may be necessary, such as re-orienting or
relocating the JAO15 / JAO18.
4. Over the frequency range 150 kHz to 80 MHz, field strengths should be less than3V/m.

5. For transmitters rated at a maximum output power not listed above, the recommended separation distance d in meters (m) can be
estimated using the equation applicable to the frequency of the transmitter. Where P is the maximum output power rating of the
transmitter in watts (W) according to the transmitter manufacturer.
