INSTRUCTIONS FOR CEILING MOUNTING SUPPORT
CAUTION: THIS SUPPORT IS DESIGNED FOR USE ONLY WITH THE BARCO 801, 808,
1000, 1100, 1200, 1208, 1209, 1500, 1600, 5000, 5100, 8000 and 8100 SERIES PROJECTORS. USE WITH OTHER APPLIANCES MAY RESULT IN INSTABILITY CAUSING POSSIBLE INJURY.
INSTALLATION GUIDELINES:Refer to illustrations for detail.
PRECAUTION: installing the ceiling mount requires the presence of minimum two persons, familiar with mechanical installations. A third assistent is recommended.
a. Fixation of the upper support to the ceiling.
Refer to the installation manual of the projector to know the throwing distance (PD) of the projector to the screen. (distance Screen-front support projector).
Mounting-distance upper support from the screen (see fig. 5)
Attention: (refer to fig. 3-4) Keep in mind that the mentioned distance corresponds with a projector mounting with the screwed rods in the fixation holes 2. This fixation allows to move the projector 5cm for- or backward without changing the upport support mounting, see point 5c.
The mounting-distance PD' from the screen to the front of the UPPER SUPPORT is equal to the value, found inthe mounting table of the installation manual of the projector (value PD), minus 11 cm. PD' = PD - 11cm.
WARNING
THE CEILING SHOULD BE CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING A WEIGHT OF AT LEAST 800Kg (1765 LBs). IF IT CANNOT, THE CEILING MUST BE REINFORCED. IMPROPER INSTALLATION MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY.

Fixation of upper support to the ceiling
Fixation procedure in case of a flat solid ceiling
The metallic bridge, welded in the centre of the upport support, could be helpfull in the following way:
- Attach the upper support, front of the support at the correct distance from the screen, to the ceiling with a bolt of diameter 10mm through the hole in the metallic bridge.
- Move the support into correct position, perpendicular to the screen.
- Mark the 10 fixation holes on the ceiling.
- Remove the upper support and drill 10 holes in the ceiling in order to be able to insert bolts which garantee a pull downward of at least 800Kg (1765 LBs).
- Attach the upper support to the ceiling with 10 bolts.
Test the fixation to the ceiling for safety and rigidity under moderate side loads (swaying) and test to at least 800 Kg (1765 LBs) pull downward for safety.
b. Mounting of the 4 screwed rods. (refer to fig. 2-6)
Screw one nut on each screwed rod. Screw the four rods fully in the welded nuts on the upper support and secure each rod by fastening nut 1 (see : fig6).
Determination of the lenght of the screwed rods
The lenght of the screwed rods is to be determined as follows (refer to fig. 6):
- the height of the lowered ceiling, if there is one.
- the position of the top side of the screen with regard to the ceiling.
For the latter, consult the installation manual of the projector. In the manual you can read the correction value A. With this value A is it possible to calculate CD (distance between the ceiling and the top side op the support, fixed on the projector). CD = A + B with A = correction value (see installation manual)
with B = distance between the top of the screen and the ceiling.
Explanation of fig 6:
- Case 1: Lowered ceiling 2 in fig. 6 considered as main ceiling Lenght of the screwed rods: [CD-H4]
- Case 2: there is a lowered ceiling 2. Lenght of the screwed rods: [CD+H1-H4]
Saw the screwed rods to the necessary lenght and screw on each rod a nut 2.

2. Projector placement on lower support and adjustment controls
a. Projector placement on lower support (refer to fig. 3)
- Place the projector on a table on rollers, projector cover faced to the table or place the projector in the same way on the ground, just under the installed upper support.
Important: in order not to scratch the projector housing, put a blanket on the table or on the ground.
- Insert the 4 "projector-position correction" controls as shown in detail on fig. 3. The screw head of each control must be placed to the outside so that it is possible to adjust with a screwdriver.
- Slide the outsides of the lower support (A) under the angle-section (B) of the projector fixation plate while pushing in the security pin (F) on both sides of the support until the security pins fit into their fitting.
- Secure the position of the support by tightening the security-nuts (G) on pins (F).
- Mount the four security chains as shown in fig 7 (page 18), using the indicated holes according to the type of projector that is used.
MUST CHANGE FOR SAFETY: if the holes in the base plate (for chain mounting) are not available, you have to drill the four holes yourself according to figure 8 (page 19). Further, mount the four security chains as already shown in fig 7 (page 18).
b. Location of controls for projector-position correction
Refer to chapter 5 for explanation of the controls below.
- (D) Fine water-level adjustment of the projector
- (E) Projector axis adjustment
3. Mounting instructions of the cord to lift up the projector
a. Mounting the cord support on the upper support. (refer to fig. 2)
Mount first both security plates as shown on fig. 2. Slide the cord support in the support holder on the upper support until its locks in the reference holes 2 (cfr. chapter 1a- attention).
b. Cord insertion (refer to fig 4&5)
Starts the cord insertion on the upper support and insert the cord as illustrated in the mentioned figures.
c. Cord fixation (refer to photo, fig. 4)
Run the top of the cord through the hole of the fixation bracket on the lower support for approx. 1m and fixate this latter to the main cord by means of three clamps as illustrated on photo. Tighten the clamp screws very strongly to ensure good fixation and for safety .

4. Lifting up and fixation of the lower support (with projector) on the screwed rods.
Safety precautions:
- Standing under the lifted projector is strictly forbidden for everybody.
- The person, pulling on the cord, should watch the person on the ladder and also strictly follow the given instructions
- Put the ladder min. 30 cm outside the lifting range of the projector to avoid touching the ladder.
- Lifting up the projector has to be done very slowly to avoid swaying of it.
- Persons, not involved with the installation, have to be kept out of the working area.
After all safety precautions have been taken, proceed to lift up the projector.
While the assistent pulls on the cord, the leader holds the projector into position until the screwed rods pass through the fixation holes on the lower support (holes 2).
The assistent holds the projector in this position while the leader screws on each rod a nut, taking care that the nut is screwed on the rod fully. Secure this nut by turning a locking-nut against it.
When this is done and checked for safety, loosen the cord and proceed to projector-position correction.

5. Projector-position correction
a. Projector water-level adjustment
Unscrew the nuts 1on each rod and turn the screws 5cm above the lower support.
WARNING: BE AWARE THAT FOR THE WATER-LEVEL ADJUSTMENT THE USED NUTS REMAIN SCREWED ON THE ROD FULLY.
Put the water-level on a side of the projector, loosen nut 3 slightly and turn the nut 2 on this side until the projector is level. Further, put the water-level on the adjacent side and adjusts the opposite nut2 for waterlevel. Do the same adjustment for the following adjacent side.
Secure the water-level postion of the projector by fastening the nuts 2 (the lower support is clamped between nut 1 and 2). Secure nut 2 by tightening the locking-nut 3 against nut 2
IMPORTANT: On each corner of the lower support, an ajustable screw (D) allows a small correction for the projector water-level. Turning clockwise lifts up the projector on the respective side, while turning anticlockwise, lowers the projector. To make this ajustment possible, loosen the safety-nuts (G) slightly until a vertical movement of the projector is possible. After adjusting make sure that the safety-nut is tightened again.

b. Projector axis adjustment
The projector axis has to be perpendicular to the screen in order to obtain for the projected picture of the outside picture tubes sharp focussing left-right.
If the projector axis is not perpendicular to the screen surface, turn screw C clock- or anticlockwise until axis is perpendicular to the screen.
When all adjustments are made, put the lifting cord on the projector and close the lowered ceiling around the projector. If there is no lowered ceiling, the cord has to be removed.

C . Projector movement forward or backward
When adjusting the projector, it may happen that the projector must be located a few closer or further from the screen in order to able to adjust the picture correctly.
The mounting kit allows a movement for- or backward of the projector of 5cm with regard to followed projector ceiling mount procedure.
Proceed as follows:
- Remount the cord if it was removed.
- Refer to point 4: the assistent pulls slightly on the cord, to hold the projector in posi tion, while the leader removes the nuts 2 and 3 on each screwed rod.
- Now, let down the projector slowly until it stands again on the roll tabel or on the floor.
- Refer to point 3a: Move the cord support on the upper support until it locks in ref. holes 1, projector movement forward, or in ref. holes 3 for a projector movement backward.
- Refer to point 4: Restart projector lifting up and mounting procedure.
- Repeat steps, explained in point 5.
