(3.45kPa),andisolated(byturningoffgasshut-offvalve)duringanytestinglessthan½psig.
9.Inspecttheflexiblegashose(s)priortoeachuse.Ifexcessiveabrasionorwearoccurs,orifthehoseis
crackedordamageditmustbereplaced.
10.LPcylindersusedwiththebroilermustconformtothespecificationsoftheUSDepartmentofTransportation (DOT),orinCanadatotheCanadianTransportCommission.Theconstructionmustincludeacollartoprotect theservicevalvefromphysicaldamage;theymusthaveasafetyreliefdevicethatcommunicatesdirectlywith
thevaporspaceofthecylinderandasystemtowithdrawvaporintheverticalposition.Thecylindermusthave propermarking,shutoffvalveandaTypeI(QCC1)serviceoutletconnection.
11.Anyattempttofittheregulator(s)withanythingotherthanthematingTypeI(QCC1)connectorwillnegatethe importantsafetyfeaturesdesignedintotheTypeIsystem.Fittingastandard#510POLconnectorwillnot providetheflowcontrolortemperatureshutoffsafetyfeaturesbuildintothecompleteTypeIsystem.
12.Propanecylindersmustbestoredoutdoorsinawell-ventilatedareaoutofthereachofchildren.
13.Thehandling,filling,use,storageandtransportationofallsizesofLPgascylindersmustbeinaccordance withNFPA58,StorageandHandlingofLPGases,orCAN/CGAB149.2,PropaneGasInstallationCode.
14.Surfacesofunitwillbecomehotduringnormaloperationandcancauseburnsand/orseriousunjury.Donot touchahotunitwithoutprotectiveclothing.Allowtheunittocoolbeforecleaningordisassembling.
15.Highwindsmayadverselyaffectburnerperformance.
16.Theminimumambienttemperatureforproperoperationofthisapplianceis50°F(10°C).

B.UNPACKINGINSTRUCTIONS:
Carefullyunpackthebroilerandinspectimmediatelyforshippingdamages.Youroutdoorboilerwasshipped inacartondesignedtogivemaximumprotectioninnormalhandling.Itwasthoroughlyinspectedbeforeleavingthe factoryandthecarrieracceptedandsignedforit.Fileanyclaimsforshippingdamageorirregularitieswiththecar rier.

Newpropanetanksareshippedemptywithnopressureandmustbepurgedofairandfilledwithpropaneper NPGA(NationalPropaneGasAssociation)recommendationspriortoinitialuse.
Tankbracketsmustbemountedtothechairbroilerstand(refertoparagraph“E”below). Tanksmustbemountedsecurelytothemountingbrackets
Installthegreenplasticconnectorontotheexternalthreadonthetankvalve.Turnitclockwiseandhand tighten.Theplasticnutisdesignedforeasygripandallowsuserfriendly,wrench-lessconnection.Itis
thermallysensitiveandwillshutofftheflowofgasifsubjectedtotemperaturesbetween240°Fand300°F. TypeI(Q.C.C.1)connectionsystemwillnotallowgastoflowuntilapositivesealhasbeenmade(SeeFigure
“A-3”).
Makesuretheventontheregulatorisfacingdown(towardtheground)sothatwaterandotherliquidsdonot getintotheregulator.
All20lbLPcylindersareprovidedwiththenewTypeIACMEvalvewithanOPD(overfillprotectiondevice) installed.The40lbLPcylindershaveaTypeIACMEservicevalvewithaone-wayvalvethatonlyallows
propanetoflowoutofthevalve.The40lbcylindercannotbefilledthroughthisTypeIACMEservicevalveas the20lbcylindersare.The40lbcylindershavea1-3/4"ACMEmalefillconnectionwithabuiltinOPDto
protectthecylinderfrombeingoverfilled.Besurethatyourlocalpropanesupplierhasthecorrectadapterto fillthrougha1-3/4"ACMEmalefillingconnector.
20lbcylindersmustbeusedinthevertical(upright)positionand40lbcylindersmustbeusedinthe horizontal(layingdown)position.

Siderackshavetobeinstalledonbothsidesofthe60"standandontherightsideofthe30"standifyour unitcamewith20lbLPcylinders.Optional40lbhorizontalcylinderscomewithsingleordoubletank
caddy. Attachthetankracktothesideofthestandwithtwo1/4-20"thumbscrewsprovided(seefig.A-1).Make
surethescrewsareproperlytightened. Clampmountingbrackettothelegswiththeclampsandfastenwith(2)thumbscrews.
Hangthe20lbcylinderontherackwithservicevalveoutletfacingthefrontoftheunit(seefig.A-2) Fastenthetankwithtankbraceandwingnut.
Makesurethetanksaresecureintheirracksandcannotmove
Ifyouunitisequippedwithoptional tankcaddy,ithastobeplaced underneaththebroilerandsecured
inplaceby(2)hooksprovided(see fig.“A-3”).Thefrontofthecaddywill
beraisedoffthegroundtoprevent possiblemovementandputting strainonconnectionhoses.
LPgascylinder(s)havetobe securelymountedtothecaddywith thumbscrews.Theywillonlyworkin thehorizontalposition.

G.LEAKTESTING:
·Theplumbingmustnowbetestedforgasleaksbeforeuse.Turnallpropanetank,burnercontroland carryovercontrolvalvestotheOFFposition.Wetallgaslinefittingsandconnectorswithasolutionofsoapywater(or
commercialleakdisclosingliquid).Slowlyopenthepropanetankvalve(s)andlookforbubblesoffoamatanyofthe jointsofthesystem.Ifaleakisfound,closethetankvalvesimmediatelyandcallyourlocaldealerorthemanufacturer.
Ifthegasconnectionsareleak-free,theunitisreadytouse.Followthelightinginstructions.
2.LIGHTINGINSTRUCTIONS
A.LIGHTINGINSTRUCTIONS: Fillwaterpanstowithin½"oftopedges(thiswillcontrolgreaseflare-ups,providefor
easeofcleaningandkeepcookedfoodmoist).Re-fillpanswithwaterwhentheyevaporatetowithin½"ofthebottom ofthepans.Failuretokeepwaterinthewaterpanscouldleadtogreasefiresandwillvoidthewarranty.
1.Checkthatthetankmountingbracketsaresecurelymountedontheunit.
2.Opentheroll-uphoodifsoequipped.TurnalltheburnerknobsandcarryovertubeknobstotheOFFposition andslowlyopenthegastankvalves.
3.Turnthecarryovertubeknobononesidefullycounter-clockwiseto theONposition.Insertalit,extralong
matchoragaslighterflamethoughtheholeonthesamesideinthefrontpanel.For60”broilersrepeatthe
sameprocedurefortheotherside.
4. Checkthattheentirecrossovertubeislitbylookingthroughthelighterhole(s)locatedonthefrontpanel.Ifthe
iqqqqqq
attemptingtore-lighttheunit.(SeeFigure“B”)
5.Afterlightingthecrossovertube(s),openthedesiredburnervalvesandobservethattheburnerslight
carryovertube(s)willnotlightorstaylit,shutoffthegassupplyanddonotusetheunit.Wait5minutesbefore
completelyfromthecrossovertube(s).
