Recordall® Compound Series Meters
Door Seal Replacement
DESCRIPTION
The door seal in the valve assembly for the 2" and 3" Compound Series meters is replaceable, should it become necessary, with the use of the Door Seal Replacement Tool Kit (64201-001.) This instruction sheet provides step-by-step instructions for using this kit. The 4" and 6" valve assemblies do not permit door seal replacement. If service or replacement is required, a new complete valve assembly must be installed.
DOOR SEAL REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
Disassembling the Unit
1. Remove the bolts from the cover assembly and lift the cover o the housing. Removing the cover assembly exposes the valve assembly for service.
2. Remove the lock pawl.
3. Turn the valve assembly counter-clockwise to unscrew it from the housing, then lift it out of the housing.
4. Remove the door seal bolt, nut and washers from the valve assembly.
5. Place one of the spacer bolts through the spacer and into the threaded hole on the back of the valve assembly.
6. Use a wrench to turn the bolt head clockwise to open the door about 1/2", exposing the door seal.
The kit is made up of a spacer and 2 bolts— one with a washer for a 2" meter, and a larger bolt with no washer for a 3" meter.

Reassembling the Unit
1. Replace the door seal bolt, nut and washers that you removed in Step 4 of Disassembling the Unit.
2. Reinstall the valve assembly into the meter housing.
3. Place the lock pawl in position.
4. Make sure the O-ring seal is installed properly in the O-ring counter bore.
5. Position the cover assembly back in place and reinstall the bolts.
Badger Meter recommends that a new O-ring be used after each teardown and reassembly of the cover assembly. To assure a tight seal, make sure O-ring is positioned correctly on the housing. Make sure the housing and cover assembly are clean and free of dirt or residual traces of old O-ring material. If necessary, use silicone grease to help retain O-ring and to serve as a lubricant in reassembly it to the housing.
