Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Ayra ComPar 30. This user-friendly wash light fixture enables you to create a
great atmosphere with various bright colours. The ComPar 30 features 5 powerful 10W RGBW LEDs,
ensuring rich and vivid colours from a narrow beam angle. As such, the ComPar 30 is ideal for use as
colourful beam light.
Read this user manual before you set up the device and familiarise yourself with the product and its
accessories. Also check the contents of the box for possible damage or missing parts.
If you encounter any problems during use, contact your local dealer for more information and help.
The ComPar 30 features a robust and compact housing, equipped with a double bracket that makes it easy
to suspend the fixture or place it on a floor. An infrared remote control allows you to select colour presets and
many other options without touching the display or menu buttons. The ComPar 30 has a wide range of builtin colour presets, as well as colour fade/jump options. DMX and master/slave options are also available.
The fixture's compact design allows for low-profile applications. Four rubber feet provide adequate support,
and because the connectors are located on the sides, the unit can be installed in a flat position. This also
helps to prevent cable management problems. Additional useful features include DMX connectors and power
daisy-chain options. The ComPar 30 is often used as a party light, and is often found in party rooms,
community centres, bars, dance studios, rollerskate rinks, bowling venues, etc.

Safety instructions
- Make sure there is no damage caused by transport. If the device seems damaged from the outside, do not
use it and contact your dealer for more information.
- To make sure the device remains in perfect condition and safe to operate, follow the instructions and
warning notes of this user manual.
- Damage caused by improper use or modifications to the device are not covered by the warranty.
- This device does not have any user-serviceable parts inside. This device must be serviced by qualified
technicians.
- The light source of this device is not replaceable. When the light source reaches the end of its life, the
whole fixture must be replaced.

connectors with caution.
- Never remove any warning or informative labels from the unit.
- Never leave cables lying around.

- Do not switch the system on and off frequently, as this will reduce the lifespan of the device.

- If the device has been exposed to considerable temperature changes (for example, transport from outdoors
to indoors), do not connect the device immediately. Do not activate the unit until it has reached room
temperature as moisture might build up inside the unit, which may cause it to short-circuit and/or cause
electric shocks.
Guidelines and types of use:
- This device is intended to be used by adults for entertainment lighting in locations such as community
centres, bars, dance studios, rollerskating rinks, bowling alleys, etc.
- This device is not suitable for use by children and must always be operated by an adult.
- Only use the device when the environment is suitable and will not cause any damage. Do not use the
product in damp or dusty environments, or where permanent damage may occur such as:
- indoor swimming pools where chlorine is used.
- Beaches, where sand and salt are present.
- Outdoors.
- Indoor areas where intense heat sources are present or where the temperature exceeds levels that
are comfortable for humans.
- Use only the included power cable and only connect the device to a suitable power outlet with the correct
output voltage. Connecting the device to a power outlet with the wrong type of voltage or using the product
with a wrong type of power supply may cause permanent damage to the device.
- Avoid shocks and collisions during use and transport. Do not transport the device while in use. Avoid brute
force during the installation and operation of this device.
- Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before use. Do not allow operation of the device by
unskilled or unqualified people.
- Use of the device in ways other than described in this user manual may cause damage and injury. Ayra
cannot be held responsible for any damage or injury caused by improper use.
Storage and transport:
- This device is intended for mobile use as well as fixed installations. During transport, use the original
packaging of the product, the included flight bag or a fitting flight case, preferably filled with foam.
- This device is not intended for continuous use. Operation breaks will ensure that the lifespan of the device
is not reduced.
- If the device is not used for a longer period of time, disconnect it from its power source and store it in its
original packaging, or in a fitting flight case.
- Store the device under dry conditions indoors, and do not expose the device to extreme temperature
changes.
Housing:
- Inspect the housing of the device frequently. Make sure there are no severe dents, cracks or missing
screws. Do not use the device if the housing is not in optimal condition. Contact your dealer or a skilled
technician when in doubt about the state of the device.
- Check the fixture and screws for corrosion. Corrosion should not be present on the fixture. Contact your
dealer or a skilled technician if corrosion is found on the fixture.
- Every power or signal chassis connector should be mounted tightly. Do not use the device if connectors are
loose.
- Do not use the power cord if the wires are visible. The cable cannot be replaced by the user and should
only be repaired or replaced by a skilled technician.

- Prevent the build-up of dust and dirt. Clean the exterior of the fixture every month with a dry or damp cloth.
If the device is used intensively, the cleaning frequency must be increased. Disconnect the fixture when it is
going to be serviced.
Fuses:
- The main fuse of this device is located on the rear of the device. In most cases, it is directly next to the
power inlet.
- Only replace a fuse with a new one of the same type and rating! Do not use a fuse with a higher or lower
rating.
- Do not bridge the fuse with electrical wires or aluminium foil as the fuse is used for protection against
electrical shocks and short circuits.
- Always put the fuse cover back on the fuse compartment.
Battery hazard:
WARNING
Do not ingest battery.
Chemical burn hazard.
The remote control supplied with this equipment contains a coin/button cell battery.
If a coin/button cell battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and possibly lead
to death.
Keep new and used batteries away from children.
If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children.
If you think batteries may have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate
medical attention.
CAUTION
Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.
Replace only with the same or equivalent type of battery.
Do not expose batteries to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire and the like.
Do not leave batteries in an extremely high-temperature environment, as this may cause explosions or
leakage of flammable liquids or gas.
Do not burn batteries, do not place batteries in a hot oven, and do not crush or cut batteries, as this may
cause explosions.
Do not subject batteries to extremely low air pressure (high altitudes), as this may cause explosions or
leakage of flammable liquids or gas.
If equipment is not used for an extended period of time (e.g. a few months), batteries should be removed.
Instantly remove empty batteries from the equipment.
Do not store loose batteries or carry them in your pocket or purse. Contact with metal objects like coins and
keys, etc. may cause them to leak, rupture or short-circuit.
Recycling:
Do not dispose of batteries in general household waste. Batteries can contain substances that may harm the
environment. If they are properly recycled, used batteries are a valuable source of reusable materials.
Contact your local government for information on battery disposal.

Setting up the unit
To activate the unit, use the included power cable to connect it to a suitable 230V, 50Hz power outlet.
The device will need a few seconds to start up and will continue in the previously used mode. If that is the
DMX mode and no signal is detected, the fixture will switch to the last selected stand-alone mode.
The device can now be set as desired, using the menu display or the included remote control. The remote
control allows you to control the ComPar 30 when it's set to stand-alone mode, or when it's connected in a
master-slave setup. This way, standard colour presets, colour fades, sound-controlled modes, etc. can be
selected.
If you need additional options, the menu display and buttons can be used to select the right settings.
Use the display and the menu buttons underneath to set preferences, change settings and scroll through the
menu. “Enter” is used to save a certain setting or preset. Press “Menu” for at least 2 seconds to return to the
main menu.

ADDR: DMX address setting, used to determine the DMX starting channel. Starting with the selected
channel, the fixture will respond to values corresponding with the number of used channels. (For example, if
you set the starting address to value 003, the fixture will respond to channels 3, 4, 5, etc.)
CHND: The fixture's channel mode makes it possible to select the right channel mode setting for each
application. For simple and basic setups, users may prefer to use the 2CH mode. For advanced setups,

users may prefer to choose the 6CH mode to be able to control every feature.
SLND: Select the right master or slave mode for the fixture. The standard mode is the master mode. Select
Slave mode 1 or 2 (2 is partially reversed in music-controlled mode), and the fixture will only follow signals
provided by the master fixture.
To use the master/slave mode, connect two ComPar 30 fixtures using a standard 3P XLR male - 3P XLR
female cable (not included). Connect the DMX output of the master to the DMX input of the slave unit.
Regardless of the mode selected on the master fixture (AutoRun, Sound-controlled), the slave will mimic the
actions.
NOTE: please note that it is not possible to switch to any operating mode if the Slave mode is activated on
your fixture!
SHND: The show modes grant access to the various stand-alone operating modes. A short explanation:
COLO: Colour presets, choose between 15 static colours.
RGBW: Set all dimmer levels individually to achieve a custom colour preset.
JUMP: Colour jump, jumps directly from one colour preset to the next. Strobe can be set individually.
FADE: Colour fade, fades smoothly from one colour preset to the next. Strobe can be set individually.
SHOW: Sound-controlled mode
SOUN: The sound status shows whether the unit's built-in microphone is activated or not. It can be enabled
or disabled in the menu with the ON/OFF selector.
SENS: The sensitivity of the built-in microphone is adjustable, in order to optimise the built-in soundcontrolled mode. If your music source (speakers) is placed far away, for instance, it is possible to increase
the sensitivity, making sure that the fixture responds to the sound accurately. The sensitivity can be adjusted
from 0 to 100, 100 being the most sensitive.
LED: LED display on/off. If you use this device in a club or theatre, the environment is usually dark.
Therefore, it is possible to shut off the LED menu display light when it is not in use. The default setting is ON,
which means that the LED display remains on all the time. Set to OFF, the display will switch off when it
hasn't been used for approximately one minute.
DISP: Display flip function. Invert the display status, and the status of the buttons will also change. From the
correct reading position, Menu is always on the left and Enter is always on the right. This feature is
particularly practical if the device is suspended near a wall, so you cannot read the status easily.
TEST: When this mode is selected, the unit tests each LED colour individually. During maintenance broken
LEDs can be easily spotted.
HOUR: Service intervals are primarily used by rental companies and by users who use their fixtures
frequently. After a specific number of operating hours, the fixture is brought in for service, to check if all
components are in good shape and to fix any problems. This function displays the number of hours that the
product has been used.
VER: Displays the firmware version that is installed on the PCB. Users cannot upload new firmware to this
fixture.
REST: Resets the fixture without removing the power cables or switching the unit off.

Operating modes
The ComPar 30 offers various operating modes, each with its own advantages. For simple events there are
stand-alone modes, and for advanced situations it's possible to create synchronised light shows. You can
also control every feature of the ComPar 30 via DMX in various channel modes. A short description for each
mode can be found below:
Auto:
Automatic and mostly stand-alone operating mode, where users can pick one of the various options, such as
static colours, colour fades or even custom colours.
Sound:
Automatic light show with one of the pre-programmed internal shows in sync with the music, thanks to an
internal microphone that picks up the beat of the music and changes a step each time a beat is detected. Use
the Sens mode to change the sensitivity of the internal microphone, so it will respond optimally to the beat of
the music.
Slave:
In master/slave mode, it is possible to link several ComPar 30 fixtures together, to create synchronised light
shows in the automatic or sound-controlled mode, or even with colour presets to save time. Set the first
fixture in the chain to the desired mode, and the other fixtures to Slave mode, so they will mimic the
behaviour of the first fixture. The master/slave function requires 3p XLR male - XLR female cables (not
included). Connect the DMX output of the master fixture to the DMX input of the second fixture (and from this
fixture to the next if needed).
DMX:
The ComPar 30 can be connected to a DMX controller with standard 3p XLR male - XLR female cable. In
DMX mode, a DMX terminator must be connected to the last fixture at the end of the DMX chain to prevent
reflections in the DMX signal, which could cause flickering and unwanted behaviour from your intelligent
fixtures.
A DMX terminator is an XLR connector with a 120-ohm resistor placed between pin 2 and 3 as a bridge.
NOTE: With the ComPar 2, it's possible to switch between various channel modes. For simple applications
that require a minimum amount of control, the 2CH mode is perfect. Users who wish to have ultimate control
over all of the ComPar 2's features can select the 6CH mode.

Installation and connection requirements
The Ayra ComPar 30 is a versatile product that can be used in many ways. To use this device as intended
and to be sure that it is used in a safe way, the following requirements must be met during the setup,
installation and connection.
Installing the system in a standing position
The ComPar 30 is used for lots of applications and can be placed directly on a flat surface such as a table,
floor or counter. Please ensure that the device is positioned safely and the power cord is installed properly.
Accidents may happen if the power cord is hanging freely and can be pulled by small children, causing the
device to fall down. Install the device securely and contact your local dealer or a skilled technician for the
best installation advice for permanent and mobile setups.
The device can be placed in a standing position for uplighting purposes, using either the integrated double
bracket or the rubber feet.
Installing the fixture in a suspended position
The ComPar 30 is equipped with a mounting bracket that makes it possible to install the device suspended
from a ceiling, wall or beam. Mounting hardware is not included, but available at your local hardware store.
Please make sure to select the right mounting hardware for the material. For example, wooden beams
require other hardware than a brick wall.
A safety cable must be used to secure the device if the device is installed in a suspended position. A safety
cable is not included, but can be purchased at your local dealer. The bracket knobs will hold the fixture if it
falls, so looping the safety cable through the mounting bracket is sufficient. If the mounting hardware should
fail for any reason, the device must not be permitted to fall more than 30 cm and the safety cable must be
able to carry 10x the weight of the unit.
Light source
The ComPar 30 uses 5 10W RGBW LED chips to create an immense number of colours. The light source
cannot be replaced by the user. The device does not require cool down time after use before it is
transported. The ComPar 30 uses convection cooling and is not equipped with cooling fans. If the device is
used in a fixed installation, it can be disconnected from the power source or turned off. There are no fans
installed to cool the lamp, so a standby setting before shutdown is not required.
Do not look at the device's light source from short distance when it is in use. The human eye will adjust to the
bright beams and possibly create temporary blind spots. These will disappear after a short period of time and
will not cause permanent damage to the eye or permanent loss of vision, but can cause disorientation and
inconvenience.
To protect the user and the device from damage and/or injury, a plastic lens is placed in front of the SMD
LEDs. It is therefore not possible to actually touch the SMD LEDs. The PCB it is soldered on for your
protection. If the lens is severely damaged or grants direct access to the PCB for any reason, the device
should not be used and disconnected from the mains.
Spare parts
This unit has no user-serviceable parts inside. If internal components sustain damage, contact your local
dealer or a specialised technician in order to repair the fixture.
Cleaning:
Clean the housing of the fixture frequently with a damp cloth, to remove dust and/or dirt.
WARNING: Always disconnect the fixture from your wall outlet or other power supply and let the fixture dry
before reconnecting it. This prevents possible electric shocks.
The lenses can be cleaned with a non-aggressive glass cleaning solution, but this is not recommended. Ayra
advises cleaning the mirror and lens with a fine brush, while removing dust and/or dirt with a vacuum cleaner.

Avoid touching the lenses with your bare fingers, to prevent fingerprints on the optics.
Check-up
To prevent dangerous situations, make sure your fixture is in optimal condition before using it. Check your
fixture frequently, using the following check list:
- All screws must be mounted tightly.
- Check all screws and metal parts for corrosion. There shouldn't be any visible signs of corrosion.
- The exterior of your fixture must be in optimal condition. Check your fixture for dents, cracks or missing
parts.
- Your installation spot must be in optimal condition. Check your installation spot for corrosion, cracks, dents
and strength.
- Electrical components (connectors and cables) must be in optimal condition. No form of damage (cuts,
exposed wire cores or any other irregularities) should be visible.
If any visual or mechanical damage is detected, contact your local dealer or a specialised technician. Do not
use a damaged or malfunctioning fixture.
Transport and storage
The ComPar 30 can be transported directly after shutdown. As the ComPar 30's light sources do not need
time to cool down, the device can be stored and transported instantly.
During transport, the device must be securely protected to ensure it stays reliable and in optimal shape.
Always use the original box and packaging material to transport the unit, or a fitting flight case or flight bag if
the device is transported frequently for mobile use.
Power input and output
The ComPar 30 is equipped with an extra power output, which allows for daisy-chaining of several light
effects.
The output of the ComPar 30 can handle a maximum power of 2,000 W. This equals around 8.9 A based on
a 230V AC, 50Hz connection. A maximum of 55 ComPar 2 fixtures can be daisy-chained from the main
ComPar 2 device.
Please make sure that no equipment with a power consumption higher than 2,000 W is connected to the
output of the ComPar 30. The IEC C13/C14 chassis connectors can only withstand a maximum current of 10
A at 230 V AC, 50 Hz and the included power cable has cores of only 3x 1 mm². If you use a higher current,
there is a chance of melting connectors and/or cables. Ayra cannot be held responsible for any damage
and/or injuries caused by improper use of the power outlets.
If you want to connect more than 55 ComPar 30 fixtures or larger equipment, the connection to a power
outlet must be renewed.
Please note that the IEC C13/C14 connectors are not 'hot-swappable'. This means that the connectors may
not be pulled out of the chassis if the cable is still connected to a power output socket.
The ComPar 30 is equipped with a fuse for its own components. The device's power input is directly linked to
the device's power output.
XLR input and output
The ComPar 30 is equipped with XLR chassis connectors. The DMX input is usually connected with a XLR
cable that has a locking mechanism so it cannot be pulled from the chassis easily. Usually the locking part
has to be pressed and held to unlock the mechanism. When doing this, the connector can be removed from
its socket.
Remote:
The ComPar 30 uses a CR2025 battery for the remote control. A battery is included upon delivery. A
protective sheet of transparent plastic sticks out of the bottom of the unit. When it's removed, contact is
made between the remote PCB and battery, and the remote can be used to control the ComPar 30.

DMX lighting troubleshooting
If you have any problems with DMX lighting, consult this troubleshooting section to solve the difficulties with
your product. If this troubleshooting section does not solve your problem, contact your dealer for more
information and help.
This troubleshooting section lists the most frequent problems and is not a complete collection of possible
faults, defects and solutions. The troubleshooting section applies for DMX controllers, DMX cabling and DMX
light fixtures. It is possible that not all described problems, causes and solutions apply to your situation, as
product details may vary from product to product.

Increase the sensitivity level of the
built-in microphone.
Speaker placed too far away or
lack of bass
Place your light effect closer to
your speakers (or vice versa)

volumes. The microphone will not
be triggered by high-pitched
sounds.
The beam output is very low Dirty/dusty optics Clean the lens and/or other optics
with a dry or damp cloth.
Dimmer is not set to full output Set all dimmer levels to 100% on
your DMX console.
Sometimes the DMX signal is lost

Signal loss or distortion in DMX
values
Insert a DMX booster in your DMX
chain after 32 fixtures or fewer.
After a maximum of 32 fixtures the
DMX signal needs to be refreshed.
The fixture does not respond to all
DMX channels
Wrong DMX channel mode Check the DMX channel mode of
the fixture. If the wrong value is
set, change the channel mode to a
different setting and try again.
I cannot switch operating modes Fixture set to slave mode Access the menu and adjust the
Master/Slave function to Master, if
it is set to Slave 1 or 2. During
operation as Slave, it is not
possible to activate the automatic
or music-controlled modes.
Remote control does not work Aimed wrong The IR receiver of the device is
placed on the front panel of the
device. If something blocks its path
or if the remote is not directly
aimed at the IR receiver, the
commands cannot be sent to the
device.
Battery empty Check the remote battery and
replace it if necessary.
