AXISDigitalAutotrackingisanapplicationthatallowsthecameratodiscoveramovingobject,suchasapersonoravehicle,zoomin
ontheobjectandfollowitwithinthecamera’srangeofcoverage.Autotrackingcontinuesuntilthemovingobjectstopsordisappears
fromthecamera’seldofview.Theapplicationismostsuitableinenvironmentswheremovementisunusual(lowtrafcareas)and
couldindicateunwantedactivity,suchasschools,shoppingcenterparkingareasandofcebuildingsafteropeninghours.AXIS
DigitalAutotrackingallowsefcient,motion-triggeredmonitoringwhilesavingonbandwidthanddiskspace.

Digitalautotrackingdiffersfrommechanicalautotrackinginthatthecameraviewisadaptedtoincludealldetectedmoving
objects.Mechanicalautotracking,whichisavailableinsomePTZcameras,locksonasingleobjectandfollowsthatobjectuntilthe
objectisoutsidethecamera’srangeofcoverage.

ApplicationOverview

AXISDigitalAutotrackingdetectsobjectsmovinginthecamera’seldofview.Whenamovingobjectisdetected,theapplication
usesoneoftheproduct’sviewareastozoominonandtracktheobject.Whiletracking,theapplicationcontinuestodetectother
movingobjectsinthecamera’seldofview.Ifasecondmovingobjectisdetected,theviewareaisadaptedtoincludeallmoving
objects.Trackingcontinuesuntilallobjectshavestoppedordisappearedfromthecamera’seldofview.

Theapplicationdetectsmovingobjectsintheentireeldofview.Toavoiddetectingmovingtrees,ags,cloudsandsimilar,lters
canbeset.Movementinareasblockedbyprivacymasksisalwaysignored.

Whenconguringtheapplication,aviewareatobeusedforautotrackingiscreatedautomatically.Thisviewareaiscalled“Digital
AutotrackingView”andhasaresolutionof640x480.Ifrequired,theresolutioncanbechangedorauser-denedviewareacan
beused.NotethatPTZmustbeenabledintheviewareausedforautotrackingandthattheviewarea’saspectratioshouldnot
bechanged;ifusingauser-denedviewareamakesuretokeeptheviewarea’sdefaultaspectratio.Themaximumzoomlevelis
automaticallyadaptedtotheviewarearesolution.

AXISDigitalAutotrackingcanbeusedwhileaguardtourisrunning.Theguardtourwillbestoppedtemporarilywhendigital
autotrackingstartsandwillresumewhenautotrackingstops.Manualpan/tilt/zoomoperations,forexampleusingajoystick
ormouse,haveprecedenceoverautotracking.

TheAxisproductcanbeconguredtoperformactions,forexamplerecordvideoorsendanoticationmessage,whenautotracking
startsorstops.SeeUsingtheApplicationinanActionRule,onpage6.

ItisnotrecommendedtorunAXISDigitalAutotrackingatthesametimeasotherapplicationsorthecamera’sbuilt-inmotion
detection.

AXISDigitalAutotrackingcanbeinstalledinAxisnetworkcamerasthatsupportviewareasandAXISCameraApplicationPlatform.
Gotowww.axis.com/applicationsformoreinformation.Theapplicationcanbeinstalledonproductswithrmware5.50andlater.

AXISDigitalAutotrackingisintendedforxedcameraswithmegapixelresolutions.Theapplicationdoesnotrequireanylicense.

UploadApplication

TouploadtheapplicationtotheAxisproduct,followtheseinstructions:

1.Downloadtheapplicationfromwww.axis.com/applications

2.GotoSetup>Applicationsintheproduct’swebpages.

3.UnderUploadApplication,clickBrowse,locatetheapplicationleandthenclickUploadPackage.

TheapplicationwillappearunderInstalledApplicationsontheApplicationspageandunderOverviewinthemenu.
