Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage45.
Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeResettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage56.

Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause imageickeriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.
Whenusing50Hz,themaximumframerateislimitedto25fps.

TheLiveViewpageintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheLiveViewpage.
HowtoStreamH.264
H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.

Thisunicastmethodcanbeusedtotraverse rewalls.Firewallsarecommonlyconguredto allowtheHTTPprotocol,thusallowingRTPto betunneled.
Thismethod(RTPoverUDP)shouldbeusedforlivemulticastvideo.Thevideostreamisalways up-to-date,evenifsomeframesaredropped. Multicastingprovidesthemostefcientusageofbandwidthwhentherearelargenumbersof clientsviewingsimultaneously.Amulticastcannothowever,passanetworkrouterunlessthe routerisconguredtoallowthis.ItisnotpossibletomulticastovertheInternet,forexample. Unicastingisusedforvideo-on-demand transmissionsothatthereisnovideotrafc onthenetworkuntilaclientconnectsand requeststhestream. Notethatthereareamaximumof20 simultaneousunicastconnections.
MJPEG
ThisformatusesstandardJPEGstillimagesforthevideostream.Theseimagesarethendisplayedandupdatedataratesufcient tocreateastreamthatshowsconstantlyupdatedmotion.
TheMotionJPEGstreamusesconsiderableamountsofbandwidth,butprovidesexcellentimagequalityandaccesstoeveryimage containedinthestream.TherecommendedmethodofaccessingMotionJPEGlivevideofromtheAxisproductistousetheAXIS MediaControlinInternetExplorerinWindows.

Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’,standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively .Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur .

Shutterspeedisrelatedtotheamountoftimetheshutterisopenedandismeasuredinseconds(s).Aslowshutterspeedallows morelighttoreachthesensorandcanhelpproduceabrighterimageinlowlightsituations.Ontheotherhand,aslowshutter speedcancausemovingobjectstoappearblurry.

Day/Night
TheIRcutlterpreventsinfrared(IR)lightfromreachingtheimagesensor.Inpoorlightingconditions,forexampleatnight,orwhen usinganexternalIRlamp,settheIRcutltertoOff.Thisincreaseslightsensitivityandallowstheproductto“see”infraredlight.The imageisshowninblackandwhitewhentheIRcutlterisoff.
IfusingautomaticExposurecontrol,settheIRcutltertoAutotoautomaticallyswitchbetweenOnandOffaccordingtothe lightingconditions.
