ESD Precautions
Computer boards have integrated circuits sensitive to static electricity.
To prevent chipsets from electrostatic discharge damage, please take
care of the following jobs with precautions:
Do not remove boards or integrated circuits from their anti-static
packaging until you are ready to install them.
Before holding the board or integrated circuit, touch an unpainted
portion of the system unit chassis for a few seconds. It
discharges static electricity from your body.
Wear a wrist-grounding strap, available from most electronic
component stores, when handling boards and components.

AX92801 Gigabit LAN By-Pass Adapter Card User’s Manual
Introduction

C h a p t e r 1
Introduction
AX92801 is a PCI 32-bit LAN by-pass adapter card that supports dual
gigabit ports w/WDT (Watch Dog Timer) for LAN by-pass feature
enabling. The LAN by-pass function ensures all network traffic
passing through the device in the event of a host system failure,
power off, or upon software request. It can keep working mutually for
two specific network segments even when the network device is
losing power or hanging up. The LAN by-pass feature can be
controlled by software, or by a watchdog timer that any connections
received at one interface are immediately passed on to the other
interface.
Network traffic can be migrated by the adapter card with concurrent
network appliance platforms of VPN, UTM, other network security
applications and embedded box solutions.
This card supports two Intel
®
82541PI LAN chipsets that provides
micro code for Linux kernel to let your customers easily implement it
with their application programs.
