1 Safety regulations

Assembly, installation and service must be carried out by authorized and skilled electricians.
Switch off facility operating voltage or pull out mains plug before starting assembly or service work.
Facility assembly: In dust-free, dry environment, protected against humidity, vapors, splash water and moisture. In a location protected against solar radiation. Not within close distance of heat sources. In ambient temperature of <50°C.
Ensure sufficient ventilation of the device. Do not cover the ventilation slots! - Avoid short circuits!
Damages arising from incorrect connection and/or improper operation are excluded from any liability.
Please observe all relevant standards, regulations and guidelines regarding installation and operation of antenna facilities.
Ground SAT earth stations using equipotential bonding rails according to EN 50083-1, EN 60728-11:2010.
Do not carry out any installation and service work during thunderstorms.

2.2 Description

The SKT 2-01 can either be operated in a head ends basic unit SKS x-xx or in stand alone mode. The Remux twin transmodular magazines are 8PSK/QPSK converters that convert all programs modulated according to the DVB-S standard in COFDM modulated DVB-T signals. Each magazine has two digital SAT-ZF inputs and two HF outputs. The twin magazines include two ducts working independently from each other. A duct comprises a digital tuner, the digital signal processing and an output modulator.
Duct 1
Fig. 1 SKT 2-01 - front view
The ducts can decode encoded programs using a CA module. The twin magazine programming is realized individually in each duct and via an OSD menu (On Screen Display). Processed input signals are led to the output collection field of the basic units through HF output connectors.

3 Installation and connection

The SKT 2-01 can either be operated in a head ends basic unit SKS x-xx or in stand alone mode. SAT ZF signals of the LNB(s) are either provided through optionally available input distributors, a multiswitch or directly to SAT ZF inputs.

3.1 Installation and connection in a headend base unit

If you want to operate the SKT 2-01 on a head ends basic unit SKS x-xx, plug the twin module into the output collection field 1 and fasten it by screws. Each free slot may be used. The power supply unit SKZ 5-00 or SKZ 6-00 supplies the module via the output connection field.
For detailed information on the headend base unit, refer to whose operating instructions.
Before inserting or changing a module, pull the mains plug of the head ends basic unit from the socket! To avoid dangerous overvoltages, (attention: risk of fire/death), the base plate must be grounded according to EN 50083-1, EN 60728-11:2010.

3.2 Single operation mode of SKT 2-01

Before installing modules, the power supply must be switched off. To avoid dangerous overvoltages, (attention: risk of fire/death), the head-end cassette must be grounded according to EN 50083-1, EN 60728-11:2010. Use the grounding screw attached to the device (see ã in fig. 2 on page 5).
In single operation mode of the SKT 2-01, the power supply is provided by DC injection socket (see 9 in fig. 2 on page 5) . A separate power supply unit SKZ 5-00 is required for it. More units are connected by means of the DC loop-through. One DC connection cable SKZ 4-00 each is included in the scope of delivery of SKT 2-01. Max. 4 pieces SKT 2-01 may be connected together in single operation mode.

Using this setting the SD-program is shown via analogue output, which has been confirmed in channel list by pressing the OK button.

4.5.4 TSId output:

This function is predominantly used with CA modules or in the DVB-T mode.
If the available PIDs of the CA module or the available output data rate in the DVB-T mode are exceeded, the channels of a transponder must be divided. During the search, some receivers skip channels with duplicated TSIds.
A new TSId can be manually assigned to the divided programs by means of the TSId output function. As-delivered, the TSId output is set to Auto, i.e., the receiving transponder passes on the TSId 1 to 1.
If the device is adjusted manually, 1 is assigned to the left channel strip and 2 is assigned to the right channel strip.

Generally, leave the SAT ID basic setting set to A; it must be changed only if various satellite positions are available. Up to 4 satellite positions can be selected.
LOF Low Band, LOF High Band, other oscillator frequencies can be set, but the basic settings are correct for all common LNB types and must not be changed.
Scan, after entering frequency and polarization, scanning is started by pressing OK.
This allows the TV set to accurately identify the divided programs of a transponder during the channel search.

For example "BBC" program place LC01, "CNN" program place LC02.
Up to 99 program places can be allocated overlapping the units.
If the allocation shell be deleted, the 0 on the key field of remote control has to be pressed twice. It must be confirmed by the OK button.
Change to the main menu and then to the "Modulator" menu by pressing the menu key.
It is not possible to transmit all programs of a transponder. The number of programms, which can be transmitted depends on the data rate and on the setting in the "Modulator menu" in the item "DVB-T constellation" (see 4.7 Modulator on page 13.).
You should choose max. four programms.

4.7 Modulator

2
Since the data rate changes permanently depending on the content of the image, the rate should not exceed 80%. Otherwise, image interferences such as mosaic pictures may appear.
If the displayed data rate exceeds 80%, there are different possibilities to change it:
Change to a channel with a bandwidth of 8 MHz if a 7 MHz channel was selected previously.
Increase the modulation rate to 64 QAM and set the forward error correction to 7/8.
Reduce the number of selected programs in the channel list.

4.7.1 Output channel (CCIR)

Set the desired output channel by means of the VOL
 / VOL  keys or the / keys.
All channels 5 to 12 and 21 to 69 and all special channels S2 to S41 can be selected.
The channel number is displayed on the module.
Fig. 22 Modulator
Select the menu item “Modulator” and confirm with OK.
Fig. 23 Modulator menu
At the bottom of the modulator menu a bar appears after approx. 5 seconds.
The bar shows the work load of the output channel in percent. The work load depends on the selected output channel (7 or 8 MHz), the DVB-T modulation settings, the set error correction rate in DVB-T FEC and the number of the transmitted programs in the channel list.
02
If a special channel is selected, a point is displayed between the two digits on the module display.
