•Assembly, installation and service must be carried out by authorized and skilled electricians.
•Switch off facility operating voltage or pull out mains plug before starting assembly or service
work.
•Facility assembly:
In dust-free, dry environment, protected against humidity, vapors, splash water and moisture.
In a location protected against solar radiation. Not within close distance of heat sources. In
ambient temperature of <50°C.
•Ensure sufficient ventilation of the device. Do not cover the ventilation slots! - Avoid short
circuits!
•Damages arising from incorrect connection and/or improper operation are excluded from any
liability.
•Please observe all relevant standards, regulations and guidelines regarding installation and
operation of antenna facilities.
•Ground SAT earth stations using equipotential bonding rails according to EN 50083-1,
EN 60728-11:2010.
•Do not carry out any installation and service work during thunderstorms.
The headend base units are a modular systems for receiving and transforming digital TV and radio
programs. Due to the modular, plug-in system, it is possible to equip the base plate with up to 4 or 8
headend modules.
The receiving signals are supplied to the modules by using a multiswitch or optional input splitters (2/3/4
and 8x). The headend modules provide the required LNB supply and control voltages.
The signals converted in the modules are combined in the active output combiner. The power is supplied
to the modules via the active output combiner.
The active output combiner of the SKS 4-00 and 4-01 has 1 DC socket. This DC socket supplies modules
1-4.
The active output combiner of the SKS 8-00 has 2 DC sockets. One on the left and one on the right. The
left DC socket supplies modules 1-4, the right DC socket modules 5-8.
The head end is programmed using the enclosed remote control. The different programming steps are
shown in an onscreen menu on the receiver or TV screen.
The received digital signals are
converted to PAL, DVB-C (QAM) or
DVB-T (COFDM). Due to the existing inhouse cable structure, all participants can
receive programs transmitted per satellite
without having to replace splitters, cables
and sockets.
Alternatively, the modulator modules can
be plugged in. The cassette modulates
audio/video signals in two BK channels.
Consequently, signals of CCD monitoring
cameras, video cameras or DVD players,
for example, can be injected in the
distribution network.
Heat accumulation affects the life cycle of all electric devices and is a source of hazard.
Heat is generated in the casing of the channel processing. It must be possible to let it escape. Therefore,
the ventilation slots in the top and bottom of the casing must not be covered. The channel processing may
only be used in horizontal position.
If more SKS 4-00/8-00 are put next to or on top of each other, minimum distances of >30 cm must be kept
in all directions.
When installing a SKS 4-01 in 19“ cabinets, make sure the ambient and operating temperatures (-10 to
+50°C) inside the cabinet do not fall below or exceed the limits.
Fig. 3:Assembly information
Please note that the channel processing is not exposed to dripping nor splash water. The channel
processing may only be used indoors.
Before inserting or changing a module, pull the mains plug of the headends basic unit from the socket!
Ground the base plate in order to avoid dangerous overvoltages according to EN 50083-1, EN 6072811:2010 (attention: risk of fire/death). Use the grounding screw 1 attached to the device.
To remove the casing cover, unscrew the two bottom screws 2. Now the casing cover can be folded
upwards and removed. The modules are inserted in the active output combiner 4 and fastened on the
top by means of a screw. Each free slot may be used. The power supply of the module is provided by the
active output combiner.
To remove the 19" mounting frame of the SKS 4-01, unscrew the four mounting screws from the rear side
3.

It is possible to lead the receiving signals directly or via optionally available splitters (SKV 2-00/3-00/4-00/
8-00) to the inputs of the modules.
The required LNB control voltages and signals are provided by each channel of the modules for the
conversion of SAT signals. Therefore it is possible to use SAT multi switches for distributing the desired
SAT signals.
If using our input splitters (SKV 2-00/3-00/4-00/8-00), observe the DC power pass for the LNB supply
voltage and control.

After module assembly and delivery of input signals, the cover or the 19" mounting frame can be mounted
again.
The programming of the modules is done by means of the remote control SKZ 10-00 included in the scope
of delivery of SKS X-XX. The configuration of the desired output channels and TV standards can be done
without measuring receiver via the remote control (SKZ 10-00). Read the operating instructions of the
respective module.
