1. Product description
The SKQ 40-00 / 80-00 module is an HD compatible remux / cross multiplex QAM modulator that transmodulates 8PSK/QPSK modulated SAT IF signals into QAM multiplexes.
The quattro modules contain four and the octo module contains eight fully independent input tuners. The SAT IF signal is routed to the DVB-S/ -S2 input tuner, where a transponder is selected whose QPSK or 8PSK is demodulated and a parallel data stream is generated.
These signals are then routed to the QAM modulator. The QAM output signals are forwarded to an HF output via four modulators. The processed input signals are routed to the output collection field of the basic units via the HF output socket. The output channel can be freely selected within the 114...1006 MHz range. The output channels are compulsory assigned to adjacent channels.
Programming the SKQ 40-00 / 80-00 is executed via the password-protected web interface.

3.2. Programming via web browser
Start page
The start page contains information on the current bit error rate (input reception quality) of tuners 1 to 4 and a fill level overview of the modulators 1 to 4.
The fill level should not exceed 95%. If the fill level exceeds this value, image interference in the TV device may occur. The error LEDs on the front panel will light up red in this case.
Here you can navigate to the Initialization and Maintenance pages.
The Initialization is divided into three different configuration phases.
The satellite and transponder settings are made in Phase 1.
The remux, cross multiplex mode and LCN of the programs is set in Phase 2.
The modulators 1-4 are configured in Phase 3.
3.3. Initialization phase 1
The tuners 1-4 are configured in the menu entry Transponder Settings.
If the ducts of the module have already been assigned transponders, information on the set SAT position, transponder frequency, LNB oscillator frequency Low/High, Polarization, DISEqC and LNB supply is displayed.
The SAT input frequency is set under the entry Freq. (MHz). The LNB oscillator frequency (LO) for the low and high band is preset to a default value: low 9750 MHz and high 10600 MHz. The Polarization can be switched between horizontal and vertical. The DiSEqC function can be switched off or set for one to four SAT positions in connection with a DiSEqC-enabled multi switch. The LNB supply can be switched on or off.
When all settings for the receiving transponder have been made, the Scan button must be activated. A rotating circle is shown on the right side during the scanning process.
The reception quality is shown in the center area. If the BER rises, it is indicated with a red bar. The bit error rate is an approximate value. The indicator turns from blue to red at approx. 30000.
The program list with the received programs of the set transponder is shown in the lower area.

The tuners are
configured with the
Tuner 1-4 buttons.
3.4. Initialization phase 2
3.4.1. Network and transport stream ID
In phase 2, a new network ID (network identification) for the device and a new TS ID (transport stream identification) for the modulators can be assigned.
The network ID and TS ID are set to auto by default. In this setting, the IDs from the set satellite transponder are used and forwarded to the modulators with virtually no changes.
If the network ID is manually set (e.g. to 1), the TS IDs will automatically change from auto to 1-4. If multiple SKQ 40-/80-00 are used in one SKS xx-xx, the network ID of each module unit must be continuously numbered. Changed settings must be confirmed with SAVE CHANGES.
If the network ID is set manually, special settings are activated. The REMUX MODE changes to CROSS MULTIPLEX MODE. This mode enables creating individual program packages from tuner 1-4. Example: Programs from tuner 1 and tuner 4 can be assigned to modulator 1 and programs from tuner 2 and 3 can be assigned to modulator 3, etc.

Operating manual | SKQ 40-00 | SKQ 80-00 | 8PSK/QPSK | QAM Quattro/Octo Modules
If only one program is required on the transponder of tuner 4, it can also be assigned to modulator 1-3. In this case, modulator 4 can be switched off in phase 3.
These settings must be saved with the Save Changes button.
Attention: Cross Multiplex can only be used with FTA programs! Please note that in the CROSS MULTIPLEX MODE, programs with the same video/audio PIDs from two or more transponders cannot be grouped in one modulator.
Manual setting of the network ID is mostly intended for use with CAM modules.
CAM modules only have a limited number of available PIDs that must not be exceeded.
3.4.2. Deactivating programs
Programs can be deactivated in the REMUX and CROSS MULTIPLEX MODE.
Move the cursor to the Modulator M1-M4 area and click on the M1-M4 button of the desired program in order to activate it.
The program is deactivated if the corresponding button is greyed out. Deactivated programs will no longer be transmitted in the transport stream.
The four colors used in the TS, the network area and the tuner list facilitate the allocation of the modulators and programs.
3.4.3. LCN (Logical Channel Numbering)
During TV station search, the TV stations are usually saved in the sequence of the channel lists in tuner 1-4.
The LCN function enables fixed channel allocation for the TV station search. However, the TV device must support the LCN function. Example: [Your favorite station] on channel 1, [Your second favorite station] on channel 2 and so on.
To delete the allocation, the LCN number in the corresponding field must be deleted.
14 2015-06-07 | © AXING AG Switzerland | We assume no liability for design changes, type changes, errors and misprints
When all settings in the station list have been made, the changes must be saved using Save changes. LCN can be used in REMUX as well as in CROSS MULTIPLEX MODE.
3.5. Initialization phase 3
In phase 3, the modulators are configured.
The output channels are compulsory assigned to adjacent channels.
The output channel and fine tuning can only be set for modulator 1. Additional settings options available for all modulators are the Constellation from QAM 32- QAM 256, the Symbol Rate up to 7500 and the Output Level. The settings are separate for each of the four modulators. The max. output level of approx. 105 dBμV is reached with an Output Level setting of 20 dB. The Output Level options include attenuation and deactivation of the modulator. The filling level depends on the activated programs in the program table of the menu entry in phase 2. The fill level should not exceed 95%. If the fill level exceeds this value, image interference in the TV device may occur. The error LEDs on the front panel will light up red in this case. If the CROSS MULTIPLEX MODE is active, it must be ensured that the maximum number of activated programs in one modulator is not exceeded.
The program table Selected Programs shows the programs that were activated in phase 2 and that have been selected in the Cross Multiplex.
